BAUGH,
Sally Katherine Brumett, 83 of Melbourne, FL., formerly of Crab Orchard, died
Monday, March 6, 1995 at the Beverly Oaks Nursing Home in Melbourne.
A
native of Maywood, she was born July 17, 1911 to the late Henry and Mary Pollard
Brumett. She was a member of the Baptist Church, a devoted homemaker, and the
widow of Charlie Baugh.
Survivors
include five sons: William Henry Baugh of Louisville, Edward Earl Baugh of
Cleveland, OH., Allen Craig Baugh
of Frankfort, KY., Charles Wesley Baugh of Loraine, OH., and Raymond Pat Baugh
of Crab Orchard; two daughters, Alice Lee Klara of Palm Bay, FL., and Laura
Pearl Brown of Foley, AL.,; two sisters, Anna Peavler of Stanford and Florence
Dye of Marion OH., and 16 grandchildren.
Funeral
services will be held Thursday, March 9 at 11 a.m. at the McKnight-Martin
Funeral Home with Bro. Cecil Roundtree officiating. Burial will be in the Crab
Orchard Cemetery.

BRANHAM,
Gracie Dean Singleton, 82, died in Indianapolis, IN. She was born in Bell County
to the late John and Mamie Brummitt Singleton, but came to near Ottenheim as a
small child, where she lived and went to school. She was married to the late
Benny Petrey and the late Mr. Branham. A son survives Lonnie Petrey of
Indianapolis. Burial was in an Indianapolis cemetery.

DAVIS,
Eva Blankenship, 86 of Stanford, died Friday, May 30 at the Fort Logan
Hospital in Stanford.
A
native of Preachersville in Lincoln County, she was born March 7, 1911 to the
late Fount Blankenship and Minnie Wore Blankenship. She was a homemaker and a
charter member of the Stanford Nazarene Church.
Survivors
include one son, Robert E. Davis of Stanford; one daughter, Sherrel Davis Pyle
of Stanford; one brother, George Blankenship of Lancaster; 10 grandchildren and
several great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 2 at the Fox Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Blankenship officiating. Burial was in the Preachersville Cemetery. (1997)

DISHON, Alonzo, Word was
received of the death of Alonzo Dishon who died on Nov. 17, 1994 at his
home in Okeechobee, FL., after a long illness. A native of Lincoln
County, he was the son of the late Chris and Nettie Padgett Dishon. His
wife, Mable Wilder Dishon; a son Wendell Dishon of Michigan; three
grandchildren; step grandchildren; and four brothers, James, Melvin,
Clarence and Bill Dishon survive him. Funeral services were held at Buck
Head Ridge Christian Church Okeechobee, where he was a member.
A
native of Lincoln County, she was born Dec 15, 1911 to the late E. B. Campbell
and Ellen Ball Campbell. She was a homemaker, a member of the Stanford
Presbyterian Church, and the widow of Orderly S. Doan.
Survivors
include on sister, Mrs. James (Eleanor Campbell) Harris of Stanford; three
nieces, Jane Saufley of Danville, Linda Best of Lexington and Martha Bastin of
Florida; and one nephew, James R. Harris, Stanford.
Private
services were held Friday, May 27 at the Fox Funeral Home with Rev. Lee Jennings
officiating. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery, Stanford.

Leslie, J., husband of Lucy Constant French, devoted father of Joanne,
devoted brother of Elda M. Wade, Zelma Lee Richardson, Wm. Estel French and
Leonard French, died Wednesday, January 30, 1985. Friends may call at the
Strawser Funeral Home, 9503 Kenwood Road, Blue Ash, OH. on Saturday from 9:45
a.m. until time of funeral services at 10:45 a.m. Contributions may be made to

GAINES,
Benjamin J. Sr. died on April 17, 1997. He was a member of the committee that
formulated the Lincoln County Educational Fund’s financial assistance program,
which first met July 20, 1992. He was an active participant in several meetings
of the committee. His sage advice was of much benefit in the development of the
program.
The
ensuing corporation, Lincoln County Education Fund, Inc., was formed July 26,
1993 and Ben was one of its first directors. He served in that capacity until
his death.
Ben was
a faithful supporter of the youth of Lincoln County, and was dedicated
to the work and success of the Fund. His presence, advice, and work on
behalf of the Fund’s program will be sorely missed.
HERRINGTON,
Elizabeth Westerfield, 75 of Stanford, died Wednesday, August 21 at the home of
her daughter, Brenda Caudill, in Stanford.
A
native of Lincoln County, she was born Sept. 29, 1920 to the late John David
Westerfield and Mary Alice McCowan Westerfield. She was a homemaker, a former
employee of Palm Beach Co. in Danville, and a member of the New Bethel Church of
Christ.
Survivors
include her husband, Victor Curtis Herrington of Stanford; one son, Curtis Allen
Herrington of Stanford; five daughters, Brenda Caudill, Connie Taylor and Judy
Henderson, all of Stanford, Beverly Gail Peterman of Mt. Joy, Pa and Debbie
Popplewell of Georgetown; one brother, J. D. Westerfield of Danville; four
sisters, Edith Henson of Stanford, Mattie Bell Hasty, Mary Katherine Banker and
Martha Ann Cox, all of Cincinnati, OH.; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great
grandchildren.
Funeral
services were held Saturday, Aug. 24 at the Fox Funeral Home with Harold Carter
and Wayne Galloway officiating. Burial was in Danville Memorial Garden.

JAMES, Barbara was hit and killed
by a car in Dayton, OH. She was the widow of Ira James born and raised
in Lincoln County, son of the late Jessie and Loudema James. She was 60
years old and is survived by a daughter, Debbie James and son, Mark
James. She was a sister-in-law of the late Clark James of Stanford.

years ago. Garland
James died at his home of pneumonia at age 77. For 16 days he hovered between
life and death. On last Thursday morning the spirit took its flight to the God
who gave it. He was a devout member of the church and had professed religion
early in life. No man ever walked the path of life any more circumspectly than
he and was loved and admired by all and had a host of friends both rich and
poor. He was known all over this section as “ Uncle Garl”.
He
left an aged wife and four children. Elder J.G. Livingston, he being the
deceased’s favorite preacher, conducted the funeral service. At the close of
the service there was scarcely a dry eye in the room. The remains were laid to
rest in the Abraham (Abrahms) burial ground.

Known
both affectionately and respectfully as “Miss Jewell,” she spent 34 years
working in and around the courthouse both in public office and as secretary to
the late Kelly Francis, an attorney.
Miss
McWilliams served 12 years as circuit court clerk, retiring at the end of 1969.
She also was a long time deputy to Count Clerk Vic Gilliland.
Although appointed to both offices initially to fill unexpired terms,
Miss McWilliams was so popular and respected that she ran for election on her
own as a Democrat. She never faced opposition.
“She
was a fine lady,” said William E. Folger, who succeeded Miss McWilliams in the
county clerk’s office. “Miss Jewell was just like her name, she was a jewell.
She
was born Nov. 29, 1904 in Pulaski County to the late Dr. Wiley E. and Lola Brown
McWilliams.
Miss
McWilliams is survived by two brothers, Charles MeWilliams of Lexington and John
McWilliams of Somerset; two sisters, Lola Fingerle of New Albany, IN., and
Peryda Pike of Lexington; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday by the Rev. Stan
Stevenson at Fox Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
Pallbearers
will be Cabell D.Francis, Harris Rhodes, Louis Stotz, Jack Pike, Lowell
Atwood and Marvin Cornett. Honorary pallbearers will be all the
attorneys in Lincoln County and Ed Southard.
MYERS,
Katherine, 84 of Stanford, died Thursday, May 29 at the Fort Logan Extended Care
in Stanford.
A native of Garrard County, she was born Sept. 5, 1912 to the late John
Jacob Myers and Rebecca Meshan Myers. She was a housewife, a farmer, and a
member of Harris Memorial United Methodist Church. She attended Murray State
College on a basketball scholarship in 1931.
Survivors
include a sister, Mrs. Robert (Beatrice) Matheny in Stanford; one niece, Judy
Herrick of Alexandria, VA.; one nephew, John Matheny of Georgetown; and two
great nephews, Greg Matheny of Mayslick.

were Tom Herrick, Gary Jenkins, Tommy Gooch, Denny Lair, Shea Lair and Cabell
Francis II.

and Ada Adams Siler. She was a retired Cheney Paper Miller worker in Franklin,

include a daughter, Betty Frazier of Stanford; a stepdaughter, Shelia Armstrong
of Bloomfield Hills, MI.; one brother, Willie Lee Siler of Marion, OH.; two
sisters, Jennie Johnson of Germantown, OH., and Cristine Broaddus of West
Carrolton, OH.; and 3 step grandchildren.
Funeral
services were held Saturday, Aug. 31 at the Easton-Anderson Funeral Home in
Franklin, OH., with Rev. James Stern officiating. Burial was in Springboro
Cemetery in Franklin, OH.

POLLARD,
Ruben, 94 of Waynesburg, died Tuesday, Sept 22, 1992 at Ephriam McDowell
Regional Medical Center in Danville.
The
Lincoln County native was a retired farmer. Mr. Pollard was born June 26. 1889
to the late Jackson (Jack) Pollard and Sallie Adams Pollard. He was a member of
the Ephesus Baptist Church.
He
is survived by his wife, Susie E. Siler Pollard of Waynesburg; a son, Hubert
Pollard of Waynesburg; a daughter, Florence Pollard of Waynesburg; a sister,
Irene Brown of Waynesburg; a half-brother, Ernest “Pete” Blanton of Crab
Orchard; and three grandchildren.
Funeral
services were held Friday at Martin Funeral Home in Crab Orchard, led by Bro.
Charles Woodcock and Bro. Cecil Roundtree. Burial was in Ephesus Cemetery.
Active
pallbearers were Delmas Petrey, Albert Petrey, William Davis, Jack
Brown, Joe Brown and Larry Brown. Honorary pallbearers were Elvie Dowell

Ada Florence, age 81, of Stanford, died Sunday Nov. 19 at the Fort Logan
Hospital after a long illness.

native of Lincoln County, Mrs. Siler was a member of the Pine Hall Church of
Christ. She was the widow of Ledford C. Siler, who died in 1956.

West Carrolton, Ohio; Mrs. Lawrence Holtzclaw of Carlisle, Ohio; Mrs. Raymond

seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Nov., 22 at 10 a.m. Burial was in the Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Andrew Preston “Pet”, 95 of Stanford, died Monday March 13, 1995 at the
Sowders Nursing Home, Brodhead.
A
native of Lincoln County, he was born Sept. 2, 1899 to the late John C. Tucker
and Fannie Cash Tucker. He was a retired farmer and the widower of Lula Myrtle
James Tucker.
Survivors
include two sons, Evan Ray (Buddy) Tucker of Crab Orchard and Edwin Tucker of
Richmond, IN.; two daughters, Louise Gover of Stanford and Lucille Kurtz of
