BASTIN, Leroy, age 59, of Louisville died Wednesday, May 31 at 3 a.m. at the Louisville General Hospital after an illness of two weeks.
Mr. Bastin, a carpenter, was a veteran of World War II.
He is survived by two brothers, Chester Bastin of Waynesburg and Glen Bastin of Blue Ash, OH.
The Rev Vernon Clark conducted services at the Morgan and Fox Funeral Home Saturday, June 3 at 2 p.m. Burial was in Pleasant Point Cemetery. (1972) This was attached to the Boone obituary.

BAUGHMAN, John Henry, 92 of Hustonville, died unexpectedly at Ephraim McDowell Memorial Hospital, Danville, Saturday Mar 8.
A farmer, Mr. Baughman was born in Lincoln County, Nov. 5, 1883 and had spent his entire life in the Hustonville community, where he was a member of the Hustonville Christian Church.
He was the son of the late John K. and Peachie Adams Baughman and the widower of Hettie Floyd Baughman.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Sommer of Fairbault, MN, and Miss Margaret Baughman of Hustonville; two sons John H. of Athens, AL and Sam H. Baughman of Hustonville; a sister, Miss Bessie Baughman, Moreland and two grandchildren, James and Ann Baughman, Athens, AL.
Services were held at 3 p.m. Monday at the Preston- Pruitt Funeral Home with burial in Hustonville Cemetery.

BOONE, Miss Lottie S, 74 of Stanford, Funeral services for Miss Lottie Boone, who died Saturday at her residence, were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Morgan and Fox Funeral Home by the Rev. Arvil Ward.
Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery
She was a native of Lincoln County and a member of Union Church of Berea.
Survivors are two brothers, Charlie of Stanford and Marshall T. of Harper Ferry, VA.

BOWEN, Homer, 78 of Stanford, died Wednesday, Aug 20 at his home after an apparent heart attack.
A native of Lincoln County, he was born April 11, 1919 to the late Robert and Grace Ballard Bowen. He was a member of the Church of Christ, worked for the L & N Railroad and Southern Railroad as a rail inspector and as a dynamite blaster for the Kentucky Department of mines and minerals. Retired from National Stewarts Construction Company and was the widower of Mary Mattie Johnson Bowen.
Survivors include one daughter, Alice Faye Bowen of Danville; two sons, Jack Bowen of Stanford and Marion Bowen of Danville; seven brothers, Claude, Dennis, Curtis and Ricky Bowen all of Stanford, Robert Lewis Bowen of Versailles, and Fred Wayne Bowen and Elmer Lee Bowen, both of Crab Orchard; nine sisters, Lula Mae Brown of Broughtontown, Luedema Butler of Texas, Shirley Johnson of Lancaster, Gertrude Dwayne and Nancy Dye both of Lawrenceburg, Judy Caudill of Florida, Alma Akers of Crab Orchard , Linda Ballard and Theresa Gamble of Stanford; 6 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, Aug 22 at the
McKnight-Martin Funeral Home in Crab Orchard with Bro.

DAVIS, Mrs. Mary Ellin ”Sis”, 77 of Stanford, died Saturday, Oct. 11, 1975 at Ft.
Logan Hospital after a short illness. She was the daughter of the late William Dudley and Mary Ellen Harwood Wallin.
A native of Lincoln County, Mrs. Davis was a member of the Stanford Christian Church and a member and past Worthy Matron of Lincoln Chapter # 486 Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband, Henry C. Davis; a brother, Ernest Wallin of Brodhead; three sisters, Miss Thelma Wallin and Mrs. J. A. Purefoy, both of Crab Orchard; Mrs. Christine Frith of Louisville.
Services were held Monday, October 13, at 2 p.m. at the Beazley-Raney-Speaks Funeral Home with Rev. Lee Davis Fisher and Rev. Ron Ansted officiating. Eastern Star services were held Sunday evening at the Funeral Home. Burial was at Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

ESTRIDGE, Arnold, age 60, of Crab Orchard died June 6 at his residence after an illness of nine months.
Mr. Estridge, a native of Lincoln County was a farmer and served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of the Crab Orchard Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Willie Mae Estridge of Crab Orchard; his mother, Mrs. Laura Estridge of Stanford; two sisters, Mrs. John White of Stanford and Mrs. Lloyd Fowler of West Lafayette, OH; two brothers, Dr. Ernest Estridge of Harrodsburg and James M Estridge of Stanford.
Rev James K. Adams will conduct services at the Beazley, Raney and Speaks Funeral Home Thursday, June 8 at 2 p.m.
Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

FRANKLIN, Alene Thompson. Friends and relatives here were saddened by the news of the passing of Mrs. Alene (Thompson) Franklin in a Louisville Hospital on Thursday. Sympathy is extended to her loved ones. Her mother, Mrs. Bradley Thompson and brother, Mr. Carl Thompson live here in Preachersville. GABRIEL, Philip, aged 77, of Stanford, died suddenly, September 1, 1976 at the Fort Logan Hospital.
Mr. Gabriel was a native of Offida, Italy. He came to Stanford in 1929. He was a retired restaurant operator and had been in the business 36 years. He was a member of the Stanford Catholic Chapel.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Gabriel, one son, Gabriel U. Gabriel, Lancaster and 3 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Morgan & Fox Funeral Home, with Father Robert C. Volpert officiating. Burial will be in the Buffalo Spring Cemetery.
Vigil services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Morgan & Fox Funeral Home.

GORDON, Rachel Holmes Tucker, 70 died Monday, June 14, 1976 at her home after a short illness. She was a native of Lincoln County and resided in Stanford, Kentucky.
She was a daughter of the late John Andrew and Addie Holmes Tucker and a member of the Hebron Methodist Church. She was the widow of the late Lucian Gordon.
Other survivors include two brothers, Mack Tucker, Stanford, J.A. Tucker, Shelby, OH, and two sisters, Elizabeth Arnette, Columbus, OH and Eleanora Simpson, Lexington, KY.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Gover, Bill Folger, Newland Scott, Henry Blankenship, Clarence Simpson, and Lawrence VanWinkle.
Funeral services were 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 17, at Beazley-Raney-Speaks & Martin Funeral Home, Crab Orchard, Kentucky. Bor. Joe Messer was the minister, and burial was at Buffalo Springs Cemetery, Stanford, Kentucky.

GRIMES, Katheryn Vaughn Matheny, 90, of Millersburg, died Tuesday, May 4 , 1999 at the Paris Community Hospital.
A native of Stanford, she was born Feb. 24, 1909 to the late Adam Richard Matheny and Fannie Hornath Matheny of Stanford. She was a graduate of Stanford High School, a strong supporter of many civic causes in Bourbon County. A member of the Millersburg Garden Club and the Millersburg Presbyterian Church. She is the widow of Oscar Rankin Grimes.
One son also preceded her in death, Richard Rodney Grimes.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews and great and great-great nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Thursday, May 6 at the Pruitt Funeral Home in Millersburg with Rev. Harry Spickler officiating. Burial was in the Millersburg Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Edgar Hurst, Greg Matheny, Dr. Joe Fine, James McCarty, Roy Sapp, and Dr. Robert Matheny, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were the Elders of the Millersburg Presbyterian Church.
HARRIS, Mrs. Katie, age of 72, of Waynesburg died Oct 16 at the Fort Logan Hospital following an illness of eight months.
She was a member of the Mt. Hebron Baptist Church, a housewife and a native of Lincoln County.
She is survived by her husband, Melvin C. Harris, of Waynesburg; four daughters, Mrs. Charles Bonta, Danville; Mrs. Charles Rayburn, Crittenden; Mrs. Kenneth Cooper, Crescent Springs; Mrs. Bobby Fossit, Covington; four sons, Wallace Harris, Allerton, Ill, Richard Saley and Hershel Harris, all of Waynesburg; a sister, Mrs. Ollie Kid, Stanford; 28 grandchildren and a great grandchild.
Services were conducted Tuesday afternoon by Bro. M. C. Hash and Bro. Lonzo Reed, at the Mt. Hebron Baptist Church. Burial was in the Mt. Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery.
Her grandsons served as pallbearers. (1971)
Funeral services for Roy Charles Hastie, 72 of Sun City, AZ. A former Stanford wholesale businessman, who died Tuesday in Sun City, were held on Friday at 2 p.m. at the Beazley- Raney -Speaks Funeral Home. The Rev. Dr. Robert Giezentanner officiated. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery, Stanford.
While in Stanford, he was the owner and operator of Hastie Wholesale Grocery Company, Hastie Supply Company and Capco Automotive Supply Company.
He was active in Stanford civic organizations and projects and was a member of the Rotary Club, Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce and Jaycees. Mr. Hastie was an active member of the Presbyterian Church here before moving to Arizona.
Survivors include his wife, Sadie Hastie of Arizona; a son William R. Hastie of Stanford;

HOLTZCLAW, Mrs. Emma Newkirk, 79, widow of John B. Holtzclaw, died at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7 at the Garrard County Hospital.
She was a member of the Lancaster Christian Church where she was a Sunday school teacher for several years.
She is survived by one son, John Victor Holtzclaw, Fairport NY; one daughter, Mrs. Julia Leslie, Mt Sterling; two grandchildren, John Bryan and Katheryn Diane Holtzclaw; two brothers, Beckham Newkirk, Garrard County, and Clay Newkirk, Nashville, TN.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Ramey Funeral Home, Lancaster by Rev. Henry Campbell. Burial in Lancaster Cemetery.

MATHENY, Earl Harris, 51 of Stanford, died Thursday, Oct 23, 1997 at his residence.
A native of Fayette Co., he was born July 5, 1946 to Samuel Ferdinand Matheny and Elsie Coleman Matheny. He was a graduate of Stanford High School and Campbellsville College, a member of Harris Memorial United Methodist Church, a farmer and a personal investor.
Survivors include one brother, Dr. Samuel Coleman Matheny of Lexington; two sisters, Rebecca Riley of Lexington and Mary Frances Gray of Hendersonville, TN, 3 nephews; two nieces; and 7 great nephews and nieces.
Graveside services were held Sunday, Oct. 26 at Buffalo Springs Cemetery with Rev. Jo M. Riley officiating.

MESSENGER, Ethel, 87 of Stanford, died Tuesday, March 30 at the Stanford House Nursing Home in Stanford.
A native of Nelson County, she was born May 28, 1911 to the late William Harris and Lizzie Adams Harris. She was a retired employee of the Palm Beach Co., in Danville and a member of the Stanford Baptist Church.
One son also preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Willow Dean Peck of Stanford and Vivian LaVerne Wade of Danville; seven grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and four great- great grandchildren.
Funeral Services were held Thursday, April 1 at the W.L.Pruitt Funeral Home in Moreland with Rev. Dale Denton officiating. Burial was in the Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mike Bastin, Fred Day, Bob Jeffries, Fred Reichenbach, Durward Jeffries and Tim Lawson.
MITCHELL, Lealon, 62, better known as Cracker Jack, died at his home near Waynesburg. He was a son of the late Emerson and Elva Britton Mitchell.
Survived by two sisters and one brother, wife and several children. Burial was in Chestnut Ridge Cemetery, Friday, April 26, 1996.

NOLAND, Fanny Faye, 55 of Stanford died Tuesday at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington following an illness of six months.
She was a native of Lincoln County and had worked at as a clerk in the K&K Grocery and also worked for Dimeco, Stanford. She was a member of the Hebron United Methodist Church.
She is survived by four sisers, Mrs. Madge Noland, Miss Emma Bell Holand ?, Miss Jean Noland of Stanford and Mrs Alfred Leece of Piqua, OH.; three brothers, Douglas Noland, Per ? (Torn paper) Noland and Phillip Noland, of Stanford.
Services will be today at 2 p.m. at the Beazley-Raney-Speaks Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Dan Miller.
Pallbearers will be Randall Floyd, Ronald Floyd, George Reynolds, Ray Reynolds, Ernest Gilbert and Carl Keltner.
Burial will be in the Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

PERKINS, Mary Shepard Cook, 77, of Stanford, a bookkeeper of Murphy Ford Motor Co. for many years, died at 9 a.m. June 27 at Fort Logan Hospital after an extended illness.
A native of Lincoln County, she was the widow of Dr. J. B. Perkins and a member of Stanford Christian Church. She was a volunteer worker for the Red Cross during World War II and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Jane Ann Schondorf of Long Island, N.Y and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. June 30 at Beazley, Raney, Speaks Funeral Home by the Rev. Frank Pender.
Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

PLEASANTS, Carlyle, 87, of Stanford, died Friday, April 2, 1976 in Ft. Logan Hospital Extended Care after a long illness.
A native of Lincoln County he was a retired farmer and a member of the Ephesus Baptist Church.
Mr. Pleasants was the son of the late William R. and Sarah Pleasants. Surviving him are 3 nieces and one nephew, 5 great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Morgan & Fox Funeral Home, with Rev. Steve Casey officiating. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
PLEASANTS, George W., 55, of Stanford, Kentucky died Wednesday, June 16, 1976 at General Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts, after 10 days of illness.
He was a native of Lincoln County, a farmer, a member and trustee of the Hebron Methodist Church. A World War II Veteran, member of American Legion Post 18 and a member of E.M. Boardman Chapter D.A.V. 129. He was the son of the late Verner E. and Julia Smith Pleasants and the husband of Mrs. Helen McMullin Pleasants, Stanford.
Other survivors include two daughters, Peggy and Cathy, both at home; two sons, George Jr. and Jeff both at home; and three sisters, Miss Martha Pleasants and Mrs. David Cowan, both of Stanford, and Miss Nancy Pleasants, Memphis, Tennessee.
Pallbearers were Ralph Stephenson, Alton Fulcher, Woodrow Manuel, Denny lair, M. B. Scott, and Eddie Finns.
Funeral services were 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Morgan & Fox Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Casey and Rev. Leroy Davis were the ministers, and burial was at Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

PUREFOY, Beulah Wallin Purefor, of Crab Orchard died September 7, Tuesday, at 10:40 p.m. at the UK medical Center in Lexington after a long illness.
Mrs. Purefoy was a native of Lincoln County and had lived here for 38 years. She was the daughter of the late W.D. Wallin and Ellen Harwood. She was a retired operator of the 5 & 10 Variety Store in Crab Orchard where she worked for 32 years. She was also a member of the Hebron United Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held on Friday at 2 p.m. at the Beazley-Raney-Speaks and Martin Funeral Home in Crab Orchard. The Rev. LeRoy Davis officiated at the services and burial was in Buffalo Spring Cemetery, Stanford.
Survivors include her husband, J.A. Purefoy of Crab Orchard, one brother Ernest Wallin of Brodhead, one sister, Thelma Wallin of Crab Orchard and a half sister, Mrs. Christine Frith of Louisville.
RANKIN, Mrs Pat (Eliza), 68, died Friday morning at Fort Logan Hospital after a long illness. Mrs Rankin, wife of Attorney Pat Rankin, was born in Lincoln County on Oct. 28, 1907 to the late F. F. and Bessie Anderson Cummins. She was retired after serving as secretary for her husband for a number of years. She was a member of Stanford Christian Church.
Other survivors, besides her husband, include one daughter, Mrs. James Odell, Jr. of Lexington, two granddaughters, Ann Dollin and Davis Odell, both of Lexington, and one sister, Mrs J.G. Harrod of Frankfort.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Morgan and Fox Funeral Home. The Rev. Ron Asted officiated. Burial was at Buffalo Springs Cemetery, Stanford.
Pallbearers were H. R. Saufley, III, George Saufley, Bobby Folger, Harold DeMarcus, Bill Lee Martin and Dickie Cooper.

SMALLWOOD, Danny Keith, 45 of Stanford, died Wednesday, Oct 1 at the Garrard County Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.
A native of Lincoln County, he was born Aug. 8, 1952 to Cecil Smallwood and the late Guineyra Durham Smallwood Brooks. He was disabled and a member of the WorldWide Church of God in Mt. Vernon.
Other survivors include his wife, Rebecca Cornett Smallwood of Stanford; grandfather, Willy Durham of Stanford; brother, James Ronal Smallwood of Lancaster; and a sister Jackie Hardwick of Stanford.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct 4 at the Fox Funeral Home with Bro. George Elkins officiating. Burial was in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Stanford.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Smallwood, Michael Smallwood, Jason Lance Hardwick, Martin Darrel Cornett, Danny Lynn Cornett and Wayne Benge.

SAYLOR, Sam Edward, 89 of Waynesburg, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1993 at his residence.
A native of Harlan Co., he was born Dec 8,, 1904 to the late Ephraim Washington Saylor and Louisa Mae Metcalf Saylor. He was a farmer and a member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Melavee Harris Saylor of Waynesburg; three sons, Lowell Saylor, Morris Saylor and Wayne Saylor, all of Waynesburg; 7 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, Dec 31 at the Mt. Hebron Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Gutenson and Rev. John Atkins officiating. Burial was in Mt. Hebron Cemetery in Lincoln County.
Pallbearers were George Goens, Jr., Herb Goetz, Hal Oaks, Kenneth Oaks, Thimothy Siler and Fremon Dowell.

TAYLOR, J. M. Jr. 68 of Harris Creek Road, Stanford, died Saturday Aug. 23, 1997 at the Ephraim
McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
A native of Lincoln County, he was born July 16, 1929 to the late Jonas Taylor Dr. and Mayme Singleton Taylor. He worked 33 years for a lumber company in Medford, OR. And was a member of the Harris Creek Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge # 135 F&M of Central Point, Or. , Scottish Rite Bodies of Hillah, OR., and the Hillah Shrine Temple in Hillah, OR. Three sisters, Lois Miracle, Wilma Tipeau and Vivan Ray also preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah Riggs Taylor of Moreland; one brother, Coy E. Taylor of Eagle Point, OR; and two sisters, Marjorie M. Lambert and Mary Lou Duff, both of Stanford.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 27 at the Fox Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Perry officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Point Cemetery in Kings Mountain.
Pallbearers were Robby Duff, Paul Duff, Eugene Hardin, Alan Maddox, Chester Singleton, Brian Adams and Darrell Lambert.
VANWINKLE, Tony, 81 of Crab Orchard, died Monday, Aug 25 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Lexington.
A native of Madison County, he was born March 5, 1916 to the late Frank and Viney Wilson VanWinkle, He was a WWII veteran having served in the United States Army and a retired correctional officer at the Kentucky State Penitentiary in LaGrange, KY.
Survivors include his wife, Georgetta Pettit VanWinkle of Crab Orchard; one daughter, Bernadine Altemeyer of Stanford; four sisters, Tressie Proffit and Mary Gordon of Salem, IN., Ruth Robinson of Richmond, IN., and Marcella VanWinlke of Stanford; two stepsons, Larry and wife Juanita Pettit of Crab Orchard and Terry (Wanda) Pettit of Crab Orchard; one stepdaughter, Judy Mobley of Crab Orchard; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 28 at 2 p.m. at the McKnight-Martin Funeral Home in Crab Orchard with Bro. Tom Crawford officiating. Burial with military rites served by the Caswell Saufley American Legion Post # 18 of Stanford will be held at the Crab Orchard Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Mark and Mike Altemeyer, Wayne VanWinkle, Jerry Shelton, Jerry Manier and Keith Benge.
