Sunday, May 30, 1982, at the Fort Logan Hospital.
He was a retired carpenter, having been employed by Lincoln Lumber Company and Stanford Wood Products. He is survived by his wife, Louis Smith James; a daughter, Mrs. Joyce Cain, Stanford; one son, John James, Jr.,; three brothers,

Funeral services were held 2 p.m., at the Beazley, Raney Funeral Home.
Dr. John Carter and Rev. Henry Flack officiated with burial in the Buffalo
Springs Cemetery.

Carl S. James of Blue Ash, Ohio, passed away February
23, 1984, after an eight-month illness. He was born in Lincoln County, Kentucky,
to the late James.Garland and Frances Oakes James.
He is survived by his wife, Leona Sowder James; one son, Bryan Lee James;
two brothers, Joseph and Clyde James; five sisters, Myrtle Tucker, Ruby O'Dear,
Alice French, Eva French and Irene Owens.
He served four years in the United States Air Force during WW II.
He had been an electrician for General Electric, Evandale, Ohio, for the
past 32 years, retiring in December 1983.
Rev. Sensabaugh, pastor of Lockland Christian Church conducted funeral
services, on Monday, February 27, 1984, at Vorhis Funeral Home, Lockland, Ohio
with burial in rest Haven Cemetery, Blue Ash, Ohio.

Kentucky, Passed away Thursday, October 11, 1984, at the Fort Logan Hospital,
after a short illness.
He was born April 15, 1904, a native of Lincoln County. He was a member
of the Church of Christ and a retired employee of Corning Glass, Danville,
Kentucky.
Mr. James is survived by his wife, Mrs. Rosella Shaw James, Stanford; one
brother, Mr Clyde James, Somerset; five sisters Mrs. Preston (Myrtle) Tucker,
Stanford, Mrs. Ruby O'Dear, Akron Ohio; Mrs. Alice French, Cincinnati, Ohio,
Mrs. Wm. Estel French, Wyandotte, Michigan, and Mrs. Herbert (Irene) Owens,
Daytona Beach, Florida.
Funeral services were held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 13, 1984, at the
Fox Funeral Home, with Mr. Kelly Ellis and Mr. Robert Slover officiating. Burial
was in the Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were Albert Jackson, Arnold Stogsdill, Arthur
Goodwin, Hobart Long, Melvin Conley and Charles Estes.

Irene James Owens passed away at her home in Daytona
Beach, Fla., on July 23, 1986 after a long illness. She was born in Lincoln
County on June 16, 1915. The youngest daughter of James Garland James and
Frances Oakes James.
Survivors are her husband Herbert Owens; one son, Ron Owens; and a
daughter-in-law, Jennie; one grandchild, Rebecca Owens, all of Daytona Beach,
Fla.; four sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Tucker, Stanford, Mrs. Ruby O'Dear, Akron, Ohio,
Mrs. Alice French, Cincinnati, Ohio, Mrs. Eva French, Wyandotte, Mich.: one
brother, Clyde James of Somerset.
Funeral and burial was at Blue Ash, Ohio on Monday, July 28, 1986.

Lula Myrtle (James) Tucker, 94, of Pine Grove
Community in Lincoln County, died Saturday, February 13, 1993 at the Sowders
Nursing Home in Brodhead.
A native of Lincoln County, she was born September 11,1898 to the late
James Garland James and Frances Oaks James.
Survivors include her husband Andrew Preston Tucker of the Pine Grove
community; two sons, Evan Ray
Tucker of Crab Orchard and Edwin Tucker of Richmond, IN.,; two daughters,
Lucille Kurta of Richmond, IN., and Louise Grover of Stanford; one brother,
Clyde James of Somerset; three sisters, Alice French of Cincinnati, Oh.., Ruby
Dishon O'Dear, Akron, Ohio and Eva M. French of Wyandotte, MI., 8 grandchildren,
18 great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, February 15 at the Fox Funeral Home

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Siler, Mr.and Mrs. Timothy Siler, Mrs. Ted Stickler and Mr.
Jamie Stickler attended the funeral of Mrs. Nannie Siler in Winchester,
Kentucky, January 28.
Mrs. Siler, 95, was the daughter of the late Henry and Louvenia Coleman
Woods and was born and raised near Ottenheim.
Her husband, Elmore Siler died in 1969.
A son, Stanford and daughter Bourbon, preceded her in death.
One son, Jim; two daughters, Mrs. Mabel Chase of Bonita Springs, Florida;
and Miss Hazel Siler; five granddaughters and two great-grandchildren survive
her.

Miss Florence K. Denham, 75 of Holmsted Dr.,
Louisville. A native of Lincoln County, she was born Nov. 22, 1909 to the late
Elmer B and Nellie Hiatt Denham.
She was a retired elementary school teacher, 22 years, in Lincoln County
System, and a member of Kenwood Baptist Church in Louisville.
Survivors include 1 sister. Mrs. Lida Bell Davis, Lexington; 3 nieces,
Pattie Lou Davis and Jenny K. Mayberry, both of Lexington and Marjorie Allen of
Paris, Ky., ; and a friend she has lived with the past 6 years, Therese
Kirchdorfer, Louisville.

Maud Davis Morford, 81, of 109 Sutton Place,
Lexington, widow of James Herbert Morford, died Sunday evening, Sept.,21 at
St.Joseph Hospital after a brief illness.
She was a naive of Pulaski Co. and for 40 years a resident of Tunersville
community in Lincoln County and a member of the Tunersville Christian Church.
She was a daughter of the late Sheridan and Martha Davis. She is survived
by three sons, James H. Morford Jr., of Deerfield Beach, Fla., Robert Thomas
Morford of Frankfort and Edwin Fl Morford of Lexington; two daughters, Mrs.
Preston (Mary Alice) Leach of Moreland and Mrs. Robert (Nell) Beck of Lexington;
ten grandsons, James Preston Leach, Michael W. Beck, Gregory S. Beck, Robert
Thomas Morford, Jr., and Steven Keith Morford, all of Lexington, Edwin A. (Tony)
Morford of Nicholasville, Robert P. Beck, II, of Taylors, S.C., Allen Ray Leach

grandchildren.
A daughter, Martha Margaret, preceded Mrs. Morford in death in 1929. She
is also survived by four brothers, Ira Davis of Lexington, Ora Davis of
Lancaster, William Robert Davis of Berea and Ernest P. Davis of Versailles and
two sisters, Minnie Catherine Davis and Mrs. Rebecca Stinnett, both of
Lexington.

services and burial were at Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford with the Rev

James, age 76, of Rt. 1, Stanford died Saturday, July 26 at Harrison Nursing
Home in Lexington of a short illness. He was born May 2, 1910 in ____ Bluff,
Arkansas to the late William Vernon and Emily E Oakes. He worked at the Stanford
__amery and was a farmer. He was a member of the Pine Grove Church of Christ.
His wife preceded him in death.

A native of Lincoln County, she was born November 27, 1926. She was a

Stanford, died Sunday, May 11 at Watertown, New York.
A native of Lincoln County, he was born Oct. 7, 1930. He (a “s” was

Church of Christ.

- Madge Noland, 80, of Rt. 1, Stanford, died Tuesday,
March 26 at the Fort Logan Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Born in Lincoln County on August 27, 1904 she was a daughter of the late
Anna Louise Parks and A.V.Noland. She was a member of Hebron Methodist Church
and was a retired employee of Palm Beach (27) Years.
Survivors
include 2 brothers, Phillip Noland, Crab Orchard and Perry Noland, Stanford; 3
sisters, Jean Noland and Emma Bell Noland, both of Rt. 1, Stanford and Jesse
Leece, Piqua, Ohio.
Funeral services were held Thursday, March 28 at the Beazley-Barnett and
Demrow Funeral Home with the Rev. Steven Seamonds officiating. Burial was in

SILER-
Robert Siler died at a Columbus, Ohio hospital, June
20, following a heart attack. Bobby as he is better known was born March 22,
1925 to the late Ledford and Ada Adams Siler in the Pine Grove community in
Lincoln County.
He married Marie Tincher of Crab Orchard and moved to Marion, Oh, where
he lived at the time of his death. He was a veteran of WW II and a member of a
Methodist church in Marion, Oh.
Other survivors include two daughters, Jennie Lichtenburger and Carol
Bershatz; one brother, Willie Lee Siler; four sisters, Nora Patrick, Jennie Bell
Johnson, Christene Broadus, all of Ohio and Alene Selby of Las Vegas, NV. ; Four
grandsons; several nieces and nephews including Mrs. Betty Jo Frazier of
Stanford. Funeral and burial was in

Philip Gordon Noland, 82 of Stanford St., Crab
Orchard, died Saturday, January 19 at the For Logan Hospital in Stanford of an
extended illness.
He was born Sept. 25, 1908 in Lincoln County to the late Abner V. Noland
and Anna Park Noland. He was a retired employee of the State Highway Dept. and a
member of the Hebron Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Harper Noland, Crab Orchard; two sons,
Wayne Gordon Noland, Hustonville, and Bobby Franklin Noland of Crab Orchard; two
daughters, Sherry Lynn Irvin of Crab Orchard and Robin Louise Harris of

died Thursday, September 19 at the VA Hospital in Lexington on Leetown Road, of
an extended illness.
He was born Oct. 7, 1927 in Lincoln County to the late Frank VanWinkle
and Viney Wilson VanWinkle. He was formerly a cabinetmaker in Richmond, IN. and
was a WW II Army veteran.

Charles E. Brown, 74 of 318 Hendon Ave., Stanford,
died Thursday, Dec. 6 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical in Danville.
A native of Rockcastle County, he was born May 21, 1917 to Charles Brown.
He was a Church of Christ Minister for 50 years, a member of the Church of
Christ, and a retired employee of Fox Funeral Home after 24 years of service. He
held the longest radio program on WRSL Radio Station in Stanford.
Survivors include his wife, Alitha Hamilton Brown, Stanford.

and Lou Tate Smith. she was a retired school teacher after 31 years, a member of
Stanford Presbyterian Church, a life member of Kentucky Congress of Parents and
Teachers, an E.K.U. graduate and the widow of Fred Gander.

was born July 12, 1890. She was a retired employee of Kentucky State Hospital

preceded her in death.

formerly of Crab Orchard and Stanford, died Saturday, Jan.,26 at the Autumn
Field Nursing Home in Danville of an extended illness.

Jan. 9, 1904 in Virginia to the late Colvin Middleton and Nancy Ann Crouse
Middleton. He was a service station operator for 54 years and a member of the
Church of God. He was preceded in death by his first wife Myrtle G. Middleton.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Middleton of Stanford; one son,
William (Billy) Middleton, Junction City; three daughters, Mary Frances Young,

Saturday, October 3 at the Fort Logan Hospital of an extended illness.
She was born in Lincoln County on March 2, 1900 to the late John Harris
and Mamie Davis Harris. She was a housewife and a member of the Pine Grove
Church of Christ.
Nieces and nephews and friends survive her.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5 at the Martin Funeral Home

died Thursday, January 24 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in
Danville.
A native of Wayne County, he was born January 18, 1901 to the late B.M.
Cowan and Charity Hardwick Cowan. He was a retired farmer and a member of Crab
Orchard Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Malinda Cowan, Stanford; three sons, Eugene
Cowan, Nicholasville, David Cowan, Stanford and Billy M. Cowan, Roswell; one
daughter Christine Cowan McKinney, Stanford; 6 grandchildren; 4 great
grandchildren and 3 step grandchildren.

Ella Mae Girdler, 61, of 4021 North Union Road in
Franklin, OH, died Sunday, August 12, 1990 at the University Hospital of
Cincinnati.
A native of Casey County, she was born June 19, 1929, to Jess Sowes and
Lillie Spears Sowers. She was a self-employed seamstress and homemaker and a
member of the Church of God.
Survivors include her husband Earl Jasper Birdler; her mother, Lillie
Spears Sowers, Stanford; a son, Michail Earl Girdler, Middletown, OH.; a
daughter, Ava Lee, Phoenix AZ; three brothers, Freeman and Jimmy Sowers,
Stanford and Bobby Sowers of Palm Bay, FL.; three sisters, Frances Estes,
Stanford, Jaunita Gibson, OH., and Eldean Brent, IN., and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 14, 1990 at Fox Funeral Home
with Rev. Vola Brown officiating. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery in

WRENN-
Graveside services were held Thursday in Buffalo Springs Cemetery for Martha
Wrenn, 91, who provided a telephone answering service for the community for
years as a Bell Telephone operator.
Miss Martha, as she was called along with her sister, Miss Jenny, ran the
switchboard for the Stanford exchange locating people anywhere in town when the
had calls and creating an early version of the conference call for chattering
teenagers.
Miss Jenny, as an operator in Stanford, was credited with starting the
"Number Please?" query familiar to a generation of telephone users
before dials were introduced.
The sisters lived near what is now the Stanford-Lincoln County Industrial
Park and walked to work to the telephone office then above Lincoln County
Federal Savings and Loan Association.
Mrs. Ben Gaines said she could recall as a teenager when Miss Martha
would link her and several of her friends together on one line so they could
talk in four-way conversations without leaving their homes. The Telephone
Company now calls such linkups as conference calls.
Mrs. Gaines also recalled how both Miss Martha and Miss Jenny, who died
some years ago, would go out of their normal line of duties to track down
someone who had a call anywhere around town.
Martha Wrenn, who lived on East Main Street in Stanford, died Saturday at
St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis. A relative, Anna Lee Prince, lives
there.
She
was born May 18, 1895 to John Henry Wrenn. She worked for the Telephone Company
for 42 years before retiring in 1957. She was a long time member of the Harris
Memorial Methodist Church.

was a homemaker, a member of Crab Orchard Church of God and the widow of John
Chappell.

March 29 at the Fort Logan Hospital emergency room. A Native of Lincoln County,
he was born April 24, 1936 to Florence Harney Von Gruenigen and the late Werner
Von Gruenigen. He was an employee of Phillips Lighing in Danville, Ky., 26
years, a U.S. Air Force veteran and a member of Blue Lick Baptist Church.

1986 then she went to Marion, OH., to live with her sister, Martha Rease. She
was a member of Richland Road Church of Christ.

Newland, 81, Broadhead Road, Outside Crab Orchard died Friday the age of 81.
b. August 5, 1908 d. 1989. Businessman and former postmaster.
He was a member of the Crab Orchard Masonic Lodge 636 and the American
Legion. He was an U. S. Army veteran, having served in WWII. A member of the
Crab Orchard Christian Church, Scott was a deacon and former Sunday school
superintendent. Mr.Scott and his
wife were recognized in 1988 as Citizens of the Year in Lincoln County at the
annual banquet of the Stanford-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce. The
recognition came as a result of the many civic and church projects the Scotts
undertook in their lives.
In
addition to his wife, he is survived by two nephews, James Wallace Gover of
Owenton and Marshall Scott of Crab Orchard; two nieces, June King Bastin and Lea
Wooldridge, both of Stanford. Funeral services were held Monday at the Crab
Orchard Christian Church with the
Revs. Derrel Cone and Rex Dunning officiating. Burial was in Crab Orchard
Cemetery, which the Scotts maintained out of their own labor and pockets.
Pallbearers were Henry Blankenship, John Armstrong, Lawrence Goodwin,
James P White, Didley Shelton Jr. and Jesse Shelton. Honorary pallbearers were
Lester Bryant, Jimmy Messer, Theo Nantz, D.A. Robbins, Cabell Francis and Bert
Jacobs.

William Daley, died Saturday May 6, 1989 at the age of 77. The death was
ruled a suicide by Scott Ernst, deputy corner. Born on Nov. 8, 1911 in Lincoln
County, he was the son of the late William Shelby and Cynthia Warfield Reed. He
was retired from the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service after
26 years of service.
He
is survived by his wife, Marie Butt Reed; two sons, Shelby Newland Reed and
William Paul Reed, both of Stanford; one daughter JoAnn Reed Davis of
Waynesburg; four brothers Cecil, Walter and Charles (Sharp), all of Stanford,
and Waldo Reed of Murfreesboro, TN.; two sisters, Christine Reed Cardwell and
Shirley Reed Ward, both of Louisville; five grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Monday at Fox Funeral Home by Rev. Elmore
Ray and Rev. Mark Clifton. Burial was at Highland Methodist Church Cemetery.
Masonic services were observed Sunday evening. Pallbearers were Bill Rousey, Joe
Robbins, Powell Martin, Denver Shoup, David Sims and Bill Folger. Honorary
pallbearers were Jodie McBee, State Rep. Danny Ford, Estell Jenkins, US. Rep Hal

GORDON,
Albert Ray, Sr., 84 of North Main Street, Harrodsburg, died 2:30 a.m.,
Wednesday, June 9 at the St Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
Born October 28, 1908 in Boyle County, he was the son of the late Walter
Lee and Fannie Harmon Gordon of Lincoln county. He was the husband of Lula Belle
Tyler Gordon and a retired self-employed horse trainer and farmer. He was a
member of the First Church of God on Harrodsburg Road in Danville.
One son, Albert Ray Gordon, Jr., and one daughter, Jean Gordon Warren,
precede him in death. Other survivors include two brothers, K.R. Bordon of
Danville and Happy Gordon of Stanfore; three grandchildren, Barbara Bordon
Shewmaker of Harrodsburg, Gary Warren of Danville, and Brenday Warren Fox of
Danville; 4 Great grandchildren and 2 great -great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 11 at the Alexander and Royalty
Funeral Home with Rev. Darryl Allen officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill
Cemetery with Dwight Gordon, Robbie Shewmaker, Clay Warren, Don Warren, Claude
Wise and Eddie Carter serving as pallbearers.

Donald, 73 of Danville Ave., Stanford, died Tuesday, March 7, 1995 at the
Fort Logan Hospital. A native of
Lincoln County, he was born Jan. 19, 1922 to the late Jess Wooldridge and Mattie
Ellis Wooldridge. He was a retired welder for Texas Eastern Gas Company, a U.S.
Army veteran of WWII, and a member of the Calvary Hill Baptist Church and
Lincoln Masonic Lodge # 60 F&AM.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Young Wooldridge of
Stanford; one son, Donald Gary Wooldridge of Stanford; one daughter, Vicky Lee
Freeman of Stanford; three brothers, Ronnie and Bobby Wooldridge of Danville and
Johnny Wooldridge of Alcoa, TN.; two sisters, Betty Jean Hearld of Reynoldsburg,
OH. And Emmilene Merriman of Lexington; and 4 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 10 at the Fox Funeral Home with
Rev. Eddie Miller officiating. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Maude Smith, 86, of Lancaster Street, Crab Orchard, died Tuesday, Han 18, 1993
at her home after a long illness. A native of Lincoln County, she was born Feb
21, 1907 to the late Richard Asberry and Emily Playforth Smigh (Smith?). She was
a housewife, a member of the Mt. Zion church of Christ and the widow of Chad
Middleton.
Survivors include three sons, Chad Middleton, Jr., of Richmond, Harry
Middleton of Nashville, TN., and Gene P Middleton of Harrodsburg; two daughters,
Lucille Hammons of Crab Orchard and Elizabeth Adams of Harrodsburg; a sister,
Mrs. Emmett (Bess) Maggard of Crab Orchard; ll. grandchildren; 13 great
grandchildren; and a great -great grandson.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan 23 at the Martin Funeral Home with
Virgil Horseman and Louie Hammons officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Zion
Cemetery. Grandsons served as pallbearers.

Raymond, 71 of Continental Apts. Lexington died Monday, July 26, 1993 at the
Humana Hospital, Lexington. A native of Lincoln County, he was born June 26,
1922 to the late Jesse Sr., and Ludema Gilliam James. He was a retired merchant,
a member of the Baptist Church and a U.S. Army WWII veteran.
Survivors
include five brothers, Clark James, Stanford, Oscar James of Hopkinsville, David
James of Cincinnati, OH., Jesse James, JR of Wayne, MI., and Howard James of
Tucson, AZ; three sisters, Emma Daugherty of Lexington, Sara Huffaker of Homa,
LA., and Betty Darcy of Pasadena, TX.
Visitation will be Thursday 12 noon until 2 p.m. Funeral services will be
held Thursday, July 29 at 2 p.m., at the Fox Funeral Home, Burial will be in
Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Jesse Marion (Tommy) 53 of Neals Creek road, Stanford, died Monday, Jan. 17,
1993 at the Fort Logan Hospital. A
native of Lincoln County, he was born Dec. 22, 1939 to the late Raymond Griffin
and Reva Griffin. He was disabled.
Survivors include his wife, Caroline Pearson Griffin of Stanford; three

the VA Hospital in Lexington. A
native of Casey County, he was born June 2 1918 to the late Phillip Conatser and
Florence Payton Conatser. He was a farmer, a veteran of WWII and a member of
Stanford Nazarene Church.

Clifford B., 82 year old resident of Pine Grove Road in Crab Orchard, passed
away Thursday, Sept.22, 1994 at his home after an extended illness. He was born
Dec.4, 1911 in Jackson County, to the late Stephen Andrew and Retta Bowling
House. He was a member of the Hebron United Methodist Church, retired from
Rexnord Corporation in Danville, having been a security guard, and a very proud
Kentucky Colonel.
Survivors include his wife, Mertie Jones House of Crab Orchard; a son,
Clifford House, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL.; 3 grandchildren; 3 great
grandchildren; and a host of cousins.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Sept. 25 at the McKnight-Martin
funeral Home in Crab Orchard with Rev. Don Hatton officiating, Burial was in

Bessie Wade, 91 of Somerset St., died Saturday at Ephraim McDowell Regional
Medical Center in Danville. Born
April 24, 1902 to the late Joseph Burnett and Maggie Elmore Wade, she was a
nurse in the operation room at Ephraim McDowell Hospital for many years and was
a member of the First Baptist Church in Danville. She was the widow of Allen C.
Smith and John Selch.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Walter Stone, of Louisville; several
nieces and nephews, including Mrs. William (Margaret) Teater of Stanford, James
E. Wade of Danville and Judy Wade of Richmond. Rev. Jim Linn held funeral
services Wednesday, Feb. 23 at the Stith Funeral Home. Burial was in Bellevue
Cemetery in Danville.

Sheila Mae, 35 of Neals Creek School Road, Stanford, died Sunday, Jan 28,
1996 at the Casey County Hospital. A native of Lincoln County, she was born Feb.
20, 1960 to Robert L. Davidson and Elizabeth Jarvis Davidson, both of Stanford.
She was a self-employed residential house cleaner and attended the Church of God
in Junction City.
Other survivors include a sister, Judy D. Wright of Eubank; paternal
grandmother, Margaret Davidson Middleton of Stanford; and one niece, Carla Kay
Wright of Eubank.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 31 at the Fox Funeral Home
with Bro. Curtis Williams officiating. Burial was in Danville Memorial Gardens.

at her home. A native of Lincoln County, she was born July 21, 1936 to the late
James and Delphia Spears. She was a homemaker and a member of Pine Grove Church
of Christ.
Survivors include a friend, Cecil Smallwood who provided a home for her;
and several nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 4, at the Martin Funeral Home
with Bor. Harold Carter officiating. Burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery.

Amie, 90 of Buxton Ave., Norwood, OH., died Thursday, March 30 in Norwood of
natural causes. A native of Crab
Orchard, he was born Feb. 25, 1905 to Luis and Sophia Goepp Genton. He was a
member of Lockland Church of Christ in Ohio, and retired from General Motors
after working there for 33 years. A daughter, Irene Simpson, preceded him in
death, two sons Oscar and Robin Genton and his first wife, Emma Genton.
Survivors include his wife, Velva B. Simpson Genton; two sons, Rick
Genton of Norwood and Herman Genton of Fairfax, OH; two daughters, Lucille Benge
and Wanda Thompson, both of crab Orchard; two brothers, Ernest Genton of Indiana
and Charlie Genton of Louisville; three sisters, Helen Davis of Indiana, and
Selma French and Ida Genton, both of Cincinnati; 19 grandchildren; 24 great
grandchildren; and 2 great -great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 4 at the McKnight-Martin
Funeral Home. Burial was in Mount Zion Cemetery.

Garland, 88, died in California. He was a son of the late Henry and Sarah
McKenney James born in Lincoln County at Pine Grove. He went to Louisville and
worked for the Courier Journal newspaper for several years. Later he, his wife
Jerry and two sons went to California where he worked for a newspaper until he
retired.
He was from a large family. Only one survives, Elbert James of Florida
and two sons, bobby and Jack and grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and
cousins in Kentucky.

Care Center in Harrison, In., died Friday, April 14 at the Rising Sun Health
Care Center.
A native of Flag Pond, TN., she was born July 9, 1901 to the late Jesse
Rice and Almedia Stockton Rice. She was the widow of Jim VanWinkle.
Survivors include two sisters, Velva Gourley of Western Hills, OH., and
Vesta Hinkle of Briston, TN.

Theodore Blaine Petrey, 85 of Crab Orchard, died Friday, Jan 17, 1997 at the
Rockcastle County Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
A native of Ottenheim, he was born Nov. 3, 1911 to the late James Mack
and Viettle Murphy Petrey. He was retired from Lunkerheimer Valve Co. in
Cincinnati, OH. And member of the Pine Hall Church of Christ, and a WWII Army
veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Schaller Petrey of Crab Orchard; one
daughter, Pamela Lunceford of Brodhead; two sons, Blaine Petrey of Harrisburg,
NC., and Charlie Petrey of Crab Orchard; one sister, Elizabeth McGuire of
Stanford; one brother, James Cooper Petrey of Cincinnati, OH., 8 grandchildren;
and 5 great grandchildren.
