Adams, 69 of Kings Mountain, passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at the
University of Kentucky Medical Center. She was born on Saturday, September 6th,
1941 to the late Champ O. & Roxie May Rowland Milner. Imogene was a
homemaker and member of Kings Mountain Christian Church. She loved being a
mother, gardening, and flowers.
Imogene was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Kenneth Adams.
Imogene leaves behind her children, Tammy I. Cornett and her husband Robert of
Junction City, Timothy Adams and his wife Alisa of Casey County, Pamela G. Ryan
and her husband Harold of Stanford, Sandra M. Combs and her husband Timothy of
Eubank; six grandchildren Miranda Sims Perkins, Vanessa Cornett, Ashley Sims,
Kristin Adams Krystofiak, Brooke Combs, and Jake Combs and one
great-granddaughter Chole Perkins.
Funeral Services for Imogene will be held 1pm, Saturday, November 27th, 2010 at
Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home with Bro. David Gambrel officiating. Burial
will be in Gooch Cemetery in Kings Mountain. Visitation will be from 6
until 9 pm, Friday, November 26th, 2010 at Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home,
Waynesburg, Kentucky.

Windle
Asberry, 68, passed away Friday, October 2, 2009 at the University of Kentucky
Medical Center in Lexington. Windle was born on February 25, 1941, in Casey
County, Ky., and was the son of James and Bertha Lane Asberry, both of whom
preceded him in death. He was a truck driver and was a member of the Pentecostal
Holiness Faith.
Survivors
include: his wife, Geneva Carol Warmouth Asberry; one son, Windle Asberry Jr.,
of Garrard County; seven brothers, Roy, Stanley, Don, Rick, James, Danny and
Charles Asberry; six sisters, Carrie Floyd, Roberta Long, Barbara Long, Peggy
Hale, Sheila Cox and Kathy Long; and two granddaughters, Kia and Tianna
Asberry.In addition to his parents, Windle was preceded in death by one brother,
Bobby Asberry, and one sister, Myrtle Delaney
.Funeral
services for Windle Asberry will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2009, at the
Oldham, Roberts and Powell Funeral Home with Bro. David Marsee officiating.
Burial
will follow at Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford. Pallbearers will be

CRAB ORCHARD - Roger Keith Baker Sr., 78, of Hustonville, formerly of Crab
Orchard, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2009, at the Rockcastle Hospital in Mount
Vernon.
Born Feb. 13, 1931, in Crab Orchard, he was a son of the late Earl Cecil
Baker Sr. and Jennie Rogers Baker.
Roger was a retired employee of the United States Postal Service, having
worked for 27 years at the Crab Orchard and Brodhead offices.
He was an Air Force veteran and a member of Crab Orchard Masonic Lodge 636
and Crab Orchard Baptist Church. Roger was also a former member of the Kentucky
Walking Horse Association.
Survivors Include three daughters, Vicki Baker Folger of Lancaster, Nina
Jo Ryles of Lexington and Stacy Jan Keeling of Hustonville; a son, Roger Keith
(Regina) Baker Jr. of Huntsville, Ala.; eight grandchildren, Elizabeth Ashley
Gray, Weston Keith Folger, Jason Tanner Ryles, Lindsay Bo Ryles, Jennie Michelle
Baker, Jessica Lynn Baker, Sarah Kayleen Rogers and Britney Nicole Keeling; and
three great-grandchildren, Leah Hailey Grace, Marley Jo and Max Tanner Ryles.
In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his first wife,
Bonnie Jean Baker; a brother, Earl "E.C." Baker; sisters, Elizabeth
Baker, Bake Young, Martha Dyehouse, Jamie Newland, Ann Mullins and Sue Hale.
The service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at McKnight Funeral Home Chapel by
Bro. David Fralix. Burial will be in Crab Orchard Cemetery with military
rites by the Caswell Saufley American Legion Post 18 of Stanford.
Pallbearers will be Tanner Ryles, Weston Folger, Martin Sherrow, Lonnie
Pruitt, Rodney Elam, Jimmy Gover and Kyle McKnight.

— Addie Shelton Bandy, 100, of Stanford, formerly of Hustonville, went to be
with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Nov. 20, 2010. Born Dec. 7, 1909 in
Boyle County, Ky. to parents Martha and Price Shelton, she had two brothers and
two sisters who preceded her in death.
Addie Bandy was a loving mother and grandmother to five generations of surviving
children: Dolly Mae (Tom) Brandon of Sherman, Tex., Edwin Geraldine Rousey
(deceased and wife of deceased Phillip Rousey), Marjorie Eleanor (Curtis) Litton
of Mt. Dora, Fla., Gale Holtzclaw Bandy (wife of her deceased child, Ben H.
Bandy) of Lexington, Ky., Charles Reid (Margaret) Bandy of Denver, Col. and Tena
Suzette (Gene) Litton of Columbus, Ohio. She is also survived by grandchildren,
great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She married Una Samuel Bandy on Dec. 14, 1923. He preceded her in death in 1976.
She was a homemaker who faithfully volunteered her services for many years at
First Baptist Church, Danville, Ky. The Bandy family wishes to thank the staff
at Golden Living Center in Stanford, Ky. for their care of Addie Bandy during
her six-year stay there. Memorial contributions are suggested to Heritage
Hospice. Friends are invited to join the family in a celebration of Addie
Bandy’s life on Saturday, Dec. 4 at 2 p.m. at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home with
burial in Hustonville Cemetery.

ORCHARD — Frank Bennett, 87, of Crab Orchard, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 21,
2010, at his home. He was the husband of Bessie L. Wilburn Bennett, whom he
married on Dec. 23, 1948.
Born Dec. 20, 1923, in London, Ky., he was the son of the late George and
Margaret Philpot Bennett. He was a member of Watts Chapel Baptist Church. Frank
was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Bessie L. Bennett of Crab Orchard, Ky.; four sons,
Ernest D. (Sue) Bennett of Dayton, Ohio, Wayne (Wendy) Bennett of Orlando, Fla.,
Joel (Arlene) Bennett of McKinney, Ky., and Tim (Tammy) Bennett of
Orlando, Fla.; six grandchildren, Tammy Martin, Stacy Wood, Heather Douglas,
Brooke, Candace and Jonathan Bennett; and four great-grandchildren, Nick,
Lindsey, Joey and D.J.
In
addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by six brothers, Leve,
Taylor, Claude, Jim, Ed and John Bennett; three sisters, Rachel, Gracie and
Alpha; and a granddaughter, Kahlie Martin.

"Cindy" Benson, age 56 of West Chester passed away Monday August 9,
2010 at Hospice of Blue Ash. She was born May 21, 1954 in Stanford, KY to Bobby
and Marilyn (nee Frith) Hale.
On April 23,
1976 she married Bill Benson. She is survived by her husband Bill, three
children, Eric, Marc, and Emily, her parents, Bobby and Marilyn Hale. Cindy is
also survived by her brother Kelly and by her best friend and adopted daughter
Velda Cuningham. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces and
nephews and many friends. Visitation will be Thursday August 12, 2010 from 6-9PM
at the Webster Funeral Home, 3080 Homeward Way at Rt. 4 Fairfield.
The funeral
service will be conducted at 10AM Friday August 13, 2010 at the funeral home.
Burial to follow in West Chester Township Brookside Cemetery.

Edwin Braley, 86, of the Laurels Nursing Home in Hillsboro, died Saturday, April
17, 2010
after a four-year battle with heart disease.
Tom was born May 27, 1923 in Crab Orchard, Ky., son of the late Ralph E. Nora
Lee (Denny) Braley.
Tom worked in Cincinnati most of his life, spending 17 years at the Stearns and
Foster Company in Lockland, where he was the maintenance supervisor before
retiring from Steelcraft Manufacturing in Blue Ash in 1988. Tom was also a
Baptist preacher, having pastored at several churches including the Highpoint
Baptist Church from about 1957 to 1967. He had a great passion for God's word
and for gospel music, which he loved to sing.
Surviving are his son, Wendell (Debbie) Braley of Cincinnati; two daughters,
Rosemary (Dean) Kimberly of Hillsboro and Charlene (Raymond) Benedict of West
Chester; two granddaughters, Jennifer Braley of Cincinnati and Shana (Kevin)
Campbell of Hillsboro; great-granddaughter, Emily Faith Campbell; brother,
Foster (Sylvia) Braley of Milford; sister, Alberta Rogers of Pleasant Plain;
four step grandchildren; and 12 step great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years,
Molly Angela (Pittman) Braley; two brothers, Bradford Braley and John Braley and
a sister, Josephine Gooch.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until noon Tuesday, April 20 at the
Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home, 138 East Main Street, Hillsboro. His beloved
nephew, Rev. Dean Gooch, will officiate the funeral service with his son-in-law,
Rev. Dean Kimberly, officiating the graveside service at Union Cemetery near
Hillsboro. The graveside funeral service will immediately follow the funeral
home service.

Kitty Bruce Baughman Brower, 70, of Lancaster died Wednesday at Ephraim McDowell Reg. Med. Ctr. in Danville. She was born August 14, 1940 in Stanford, Kentucky. Kitty was the daughter of the late John S. Baughman, Jr. and Dorothy Hill Baughman, sister of the late Dr. John S. Baughman III and Lt. Col. Harry Hill Baughman. She was a member of Stanford Christian Church.
Kitty is survived by her son Courtney Brower, daughter in law Sara Brower and her "little Angel on Earth" Madelyn Brower, granddaughter. A special friend, confidant and the love of her life, Everette Eugene Cowan, who provided love, support and companionship the past seven years through good times and her prevailing sickness. Everette never left her side and was a rock to lean on in difficult times throughout her illness; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010, from 4:30 to 8 p.m., Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, at Spurlin Funeral Home. Reverend Richard Reed will be officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Doyce "Dale" Burton was born October 13, 1945 in Stanford, Kentucky and passed away on May 1, 2010. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn, having been married 40 years. He is also survived by his two daughters, Suzette and Nicole along with three grandchildren.
He had made trips back to Kentucky in 2009 and was able to see his mother who is still living, Goldene Burton, along with his two brothers and two sisters and old classmates. He loved his family and friends dearly and always thought of others before himself.
He was in the United States Air force for over 21 years and was very proud of his service to his country. He also retired from the Department of Defense after being employed for over 20 years. In later years, he really enjoyed swimming, snorkeling and boating. He made a trip to the Virgin Islands with his wife in 2009 and loved it. It was a trip of a lifetime, and he spoke often of how much he enjoyed it. He was a very gentle soul.
Visitation will be held at Castle Ridge Mortuary on Thursday May 6, 2010 at 5:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Visitation Friday May 7, 2010 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Castle Ridge Mortuary followed by a Procession to Graveside Service and Burial at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

SALEM; Ronald L. "Jack" Carrier, 66, went to join his Heavenly Father on Sunday April 4, 2009. Mr. Carrier was born on August 18, 1942 to Smith and Rosa Benedict Carrier and was raised in the Cardwell area of Washington County, KY.
Mr. Carrier was preceded in death by his parents; son, Terry Carrier; brother, Walter; and sister, Helen Hall. Mr. Carrier was a Marine veteran and a retired truck driver. Mr. Carrier leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Patricia DeRocker (John); grandsons, Joey, Brandon, Cody and Devin; sisters, Elizabeth Curtsinger, Mary Allen (Ben), Delia Welch (Ted), Opal Burgstiner (Bruce) and Jean McCoy (Sam); brothers, Bob Carrier; best friend and brother, Donald Carrier ; nephew, Smitty Hensley; and 31 nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his companion of 18 years, Ellie Carrier and her children and grandchildren, whom loved him dearly; and a host of other family and friends.
Raised on a farm, he bought his little piece of heaven outside Salem and wintered in Okeechobee, FL, where he spent his time fishing, telling jokes, swapping tall tales, cook outs and enjoying life. She was a 1963 graduate of Franklin Central High School and was a member of
Emerson Avenue Baptist Church.
Thelma was an auxiliary volunteer at Community Hospital East for several years.
She loved to crochet and made many afghans for her family.

D. Cornett, 71, of Waynesburg, passed away Monday, November 15, 2010 at his home
in Kings Mountain. He was born Tuesday, October 3, 1939 in the Rocky Hollow
community of Lincoln County to the late Chester Arthur and Maggie McKnight
Cornett. Earnest was a retired general manager for Square D, a member of
McKinney Masonic Lodge #631 F&AM and a Baptist. He will be remembered for
his love of hunting, fishing and playing corn hole.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Mona Cornett; his brother,
Wendell Cornett and an infant brother; and his sisters, Charity and Ann Cornett.
He is survived by his son, Dwayne Cornett and his wife, Donna of Waynesburg; his
brothers, Herman Cornett of Waynesburg and Chester Cornett and his wife, Barbara
of Stanford; his sisters, Frances Godbey, Lenora Bowman and Betty Foister and
her husband, David, all of Waynesburg; his granddaughter, Danielle Mona Cornett
and a step-granddaughter, Emily Peavyhouse.
An Appreciation of Life service will be 2 p.m. Friday, November 19th at Barnett
& Demrow Funeral Home by his brother Chester Cornett with burial to follow

She was born February 11, 1919 in Lockland, Ohio to the late Arnold F. and Nancy McKinney Sims. She was the widow of John Elliott. Mrs. Elliott was a past assistant Vice President and retired from 1st Southern National Bank and she was a member of Freedom Baptist Church.

Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, at Fort Logan Hospital after a long battle with cancer.
Born Dec. 11, 1942, in Ekatowa, Ky., he was a son of Dorothy Robbins Gilpin of
McKinney and the late William Shelby Gilpin. He was a

driver for Super Service and a member of New Life Church of God of Prophecy.

died Friday, Nov. 26, 2010, at his home after a brief illness.
Born Feb. 3, 1928, in Highland, Lincoln Co. Ky., he was the son of John and Lily
Smith Green. Ray was the former owner of Green’s Ashland Service Station,
Yellow Cab Co., the Danville Coffee Cup Restaurant and Danville Tire Co. He
served in the U.S. Army as a Sgt. 1st Class and loved to farm and spend time
with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Hospital, Indianapolis.
Mr.
Griffin was the Bartholomew County Veterans Service Officer and owned Jim
Griffin Inc.as an exclusive agent for Allstate. He was a member of 40 et 8

He was involved with the Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard, volunteer for
the Celebration 95 weekend in 1995, a major fund raiser for the Bartholomew
County Memorial for
Veterans,
a key volunteer for the Welcome Home parade, co-chairman for the annual Honoring
Veterans Banquet where he had won the Patriot award. He was involved with the
annual
Veterans
Day ceremony, served on the planning committee for the annual Veterans Day
parade this year and the annual Salute Concert where he donated flags to the
attendees with funds from his own pocket, was the spearhead for the
establishment of the Dennis Chomel headstoneplacement on the POW-MIA plaza and
assisted with the installation and as a speaker for the Dignity Memorial
Vietnam Wall Experience in 2002. He graduated from Freetown High School in 1962.
He
served in the U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. Born
April 8, 1944 in Lincoln County, Ky., he was a son of Lawrence & Christine
McKain
Griffin,
both of whom preceded him in death. On May 15, 1987, he married Kathy Ira
Griffin, who survives.
Other

Joshua Edward Langerman was born November 14, 1983 in Monroe, Michigan. Joshua was the oldest of three boys born from the union of John E. Langerman and Deborah Ann (Estes) Langerman. He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church with god parents Margie and Chris Langerman. He attended Jefferson Schools and graduated from Jefferson High School with the class of 2002.
Joshua had a passion for life, and a special love for his family and friends. He enjoyed being outside and riding his ten speed bike any and every place he could. Distance was never an obstacle for him. Joshua felt it was his contribution to saving the environment by riding instead of driving; “going green”. He also enjoyed playing video games, and his favorite was “Guitar Hero”, in fact his family says he had become pretty good at it. He had a passion for vehicles and especially for wrenching on them. His head could often be found under the hood. Fishing was a favorite pastime, and allowed him the opportunity to spend time with his father. He also loved animals, and walking his dog “Buddy”, a black lab.
Joshua passed away at 11:04pm, Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at Mercy Memorial Hospital, after being involved in a traffic accident. His passing was preceded by a maternal great grandfather: Henry Estes; paternal great grandparents: J.D. and Mae Coolman; and maternal grandmother: Hollie Estes.
He leaves to cherish his memory his parents: John and Debbie Langerman of Monroe; his two brothers: Christopher Lee Langerman and Michael John Langerman both of Monroe; paternal grandparents: Jan and Roger Langerman of Roscommon, Michigan; maternal grandparents: Shelby and Patty Estes of Newport, Michigan; paternal great grandparents: Jack and Harriett Jennette of Roscommon, Michigan; a maternal great grandmother: Addie Estes of Stanford, Kentucky; and numerous aunts and uncles.

An
immense crowd attended the funeral of Mr. James E. Lynn at this late home on the
Somerset Pike Friday afternoon and followed the remains to their last resting
place in Buffalo cemetery.
Dr.
W. F. Vaughan, now of Somerset, preached a most appropriate funeral sermon and
th occasion was a most solemn one. Mr. Lynn was an exceedingly popular man and
much sorrow is expressed at his taking away.
As
Stated last issue he and his twin brother, Mr. John G. Lynn, died within a few
days of one another. They greatly resembled each other and many were unable to
tell them apart.
Truly
Lincoln County has lost two excellent citizens by their deaths.

John G. and James E. Lynn, of Lincoln County. They were twins, so much alike
that close friends sometimes mistook one for the other.
They
were also alike in good citizenship. They both suffered from the same disease
and died of it, the one on Monday the other on Wednesday, and they would have
been 59 years of age on Friday.

Arthur
"Art" McGuffey, age 85 of Fairborn, OH passed away July 17, 2010. He
was born April 15, 1925 in Lincoln County, KY, the son of the late Walter
Franklin and Laura (Privett) McGuffey. Art served his country in the U.S. Navy
during World War II. He followed as a school teacher for a few years and then
was the co-founder of Roush's Restaurant in Fairborn, retiring in 1988.
Following retirement he enjoyed traveling to many destinations. He was a
lifetime member of American Legion Dignam-Whitmore Post 526 and Am vets Post
444. He was also a member of the Fairborn Area Chamber of Commerce, a Kentucky
Colonel and the Wilmington College Sigma Zeta fraternity.
In
addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Beatrice,
Buelah, and Eva and five brothers, Albert, Claude, Robert, Manford, and Roy. He
is survived by his lifetime friend, Walt Roush; a brother, Joe McGuffey and wife
Melva of Panama City, FL; two sisters-in-law, Linda and Helen McGuffey as well
as numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends. A gathering of family and friends
will be held on July 21, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. in the Belton-Stroup
Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, where a funeral
service will be held on July 22, 2010 at 10:00 A.M., Rev. Earl McGuffey

Joseph T. and Lorene Foley Martin. Becky was a retired food service manager with
McKinney Elementary School, a former EMT and board member with McKinney and West
End Rescue for more than 15 years, and a member of Hustonville Christian Church.

T. and Lorene Martin.

William Ray "Bo" Middleton of Danville died Jan. 29, 2009, at
Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born Oct. 4, 1949, in Crab Orchard, he was the son of Irene Fields
Middleton of Danville and the late Bill Middleton.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Joyce Russell Middleton; a
daughter, Monica (Greg) Ballard; and two grandchildren, Taylor Ballard and
Carter Ballard, all of Danville. He also is survived by two sisters, Barbara
Carmickle and Brenda (Billy) Chester, both of Hustonville.
Bo served in the U.S. Marine Corps and retired from Bellsouth Telephone
Co. after 30 years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a volunteer
with Big Brothers and Big Sisters.
Bo was a dedicated, loving husband, father and grandfather, and a friend
to everyone.
He never met a stranger and his favorite accomplishment was being
grandfather "Baboo" to his grandchildren.

with the Rev. Doug Wesley and Rev. Harold Best. Burial will be in Bellevue

Charity H. Naylor, 70, of Stanford died Thursday at Golden Living Center in Stanford. She was born June 5, 1940 in Whitley City, KY to the late Joel Henry Strunck and Martha Marrie Marlor Strunck. She was the widow of Toney McCowan Naylor. Charity was a nurses aid and a member of Danville Church of God.
Survivors include four sons, Toney Naylor, Jr. (Diane), Richard Naylor (Flo), , James Naylor all of Stanford and Scotty Naylor (Marla) of Parksville; a daughter Beverly Castle of Junction City.; a sister Alma Sexton of Cincinnati, Ohio; 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; she was preceded in death by two sons, Bruce and Timmy Naylor, and two grandsons, Mason Castle and Adian McCowan.
Visitation will be Sunday 4-8 at
Spurlin Funeral Home, Funeral Service 2 P.M. Monday at the funeral home with
Reverend Montgomery officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Born March 13, 1957, he was the son of Merle Newlon Jr. and the late Marjorie
Statom Newlon. He worked as a flight attendant for American Airlines
and was also a union official.
Other survivors include two brothers, Merle Newlon III and Joseph Shepherd.

- William Gather Oakes, 94, of Hustonville died Sunday.
Born Aug. 15, 1916, in Greensburg, he was a son of the late James A. and Cora
Judd Oakes. He was a logger and retired from Sparta Casket Factory in Lynn, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Mae Oakes, and daughter, Shirley
Hilderbrand.
Survivors
include his sons, James Oakes of Richmond, Ind., and Hershel Oakes of
Hustonville; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and nine
great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at McKinney Cemetery.

Lt. Col. Robert H. Perlman (Ret), a long time resident of Northwest Florida, passed away on December 25, 2010, in Boulder City, Nevada. Born in Stockholm, Sweden in June 1917, Col. Perlman was a 32-year veteran of the
Army-Air Corp and the US Air Force,
having served during three wars. He moved to Niceville in 1960 and over the
years lived in Navarre, Gulf Breeze and Pensacola. In 2003 he moved to Nevada to
live with his son. He survived his wife, Linda, who passed away in 2009. He is
survived by his daughter Judith Edwards of Lancaster, KY., his son David Perlman
of Henderson, NV, and his sister Betty of Uppsala, Sweden. Col Perlman will be
interred with his mother, Maud and his wife, Linda, at the Parlor Grove
cemetery in Waynesburg, Kentucky.

ORCHARD — Ruby Elizabeth Peace Poynter, 88, of Lexington, Ky., formerly of
Crab Orchard, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
She was the widow of Raymond Poynter.
Born Feb. 19, 1922, in Garrard County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late
Oakley and Rhoda Mae Poynter Peace. She was a former bookkeeper for the Lincoln
County Jail in Stanford
and a member of Watts Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Rose Marie Tankersley of Cincinnati, Ohio; a son,
Wesley Ray Poynter of Bedford, Ky.; a brother, Russell Peace of Indiana; and
several grandchildren.

"Speed" Proffitt, 78, of Dublin, Ind., passed away on Feb. 1, 2009, at
Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind.
The son of W.H. and
Martha E. (Hardigree) Proffitt, he was born Dec. 28, 1930, in Crab Orchard in
Lincoln County, Ky. On Dec. 30, 1949, in Liberty, Ind., he married Ruth Anna
Bunger who precedes him in death.
Speed moved to Dublin
in 1949 and lived and served his community for over 60 years. He owned and
operated Speed's Plumbing, Heating and Air and was a licensed electrician. He
retired from NATCO in Richmond.
Speed was an honorary
member of the Lawrence H. Bertsch American Legion Post 169, where he called
bingo for the past 35 years. He was a member of the Faith United Baptist Church
in Hagerstown.
Survivors include four
daughters, Vicki A. Sperber of Dublin, Brenda D. Carroll of Holly Springs,
Miss., Rhonda L. Proffitt of Dublin and Rischa L. Pruiett of Marshall, Ill.;
nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and several step grandchildren
and step great grandchildren; two brothers, Coleman Proffitt of Dublin and Ray
Proffitt of Louisville, two sisters, Frances Francis of Phoenix, Ariz., and
Miranda Oaks of Apex, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in
death by both parents; wife, Ruth Anna Bunger on March 28, 1992; a
great-granddaughter, Kam Sullivan; five brothers, Allen, Thomas, George, Abijah
and Edward Proffitt.
Services will be
Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home,
Dublin. Rev. Eldon Denney will officiate the service. Burial will follow at the
South Lawn Cemetery in Dublin.

Gertrude Doyle H. Rumore, 85, of La Place, Louisiana, formerly of Stanford, died Monday, Dec. 13, 2010 at River Parrish Hospital in La Place, LA. She was born March 8, 1925 in Parksville, KY to the late Roscoe and Gertrude Miller Henry. She was the widow of Frank Rumore. She was a retired bookkeeper and a member of Fairview Baptist Church. She was a past member of Riverside Baptist Church in New Orleans. Mrs. Rumore was a devoted grandmother.
Survivors include two daughters, Pearl Rumore of Covington, Louisiana and Connie Garcia (Jose) of Lancaster, KY; a sister, Jeanette Bailey (James) of Stanford; a granddaughter, Crystal Rumore and a great-grandson, Caden Pretlove.
Visitation and funeral service will be all in Thursday, December 16, 2010, from 10-2 pm with the service beginning at 2. Reverend Gary King will be officiating the service. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

He was born in Waynesburg, Kentucky on August 27, 1925, son of the late James Hatcher and Mae Crone Sanders. He was a logger for Monroe Pallet Mill and of the Baptist faith. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
He is survived by one son, Jerry Sanders of Eubank and one brother, Robert Sanders of Burnside.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Nevada May Sanders, whom passed away on June 4, 2010, his parents, two brothers, Phillip Sanders and Scott Sanders and one sister, Norma Sanders.
