Wednesday, March 17 at his home in McKinney.
Born Jan. 8,
1936, he was a son of the late George and Mollie Absher.
Survivors
include his wife, Betty Cox Absher of McKinney; two children, William (Melissa)
Reed and Cheryl (Raymond) Holton; four step children, "Billy," Linda
and Ruth Ann Reed all of Nicholasville and Brenda Reed of Eubank; five step
grandchildren; four sisters, Odel Brim of Greensburg, Marie Holloway and Jean
Perry of McKinney and Essie Lianeheart of Claysville; and four brothers, Joe (Jennett)
Absher of Claysville, Kenneth and J.D. (Shirley) Absher of Hustonville and
Marion (Katherine) Absher of Nicholasville; 18 nieces; and eight step nieces and
nephews.
Funeral
services were March 20 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home in Liberty with Bros.
Darrell Estes and Jerrett Brooks officiating. Burial was in Salem Cemetery.

— William Brockman, 61, of old Lexington Road, died Thursday at the Ephriam
McDowell Medical Center.
He
was the son of the late Alvin and Reta Glaser Brockman. William was an engineer
for Kentucky Utilities for 36 years and he attended Forks of Dix River Baptist
Church.
Surviving
is his wife, Elaine Brockman; three sons, David (Sharon) Brockman of Virginia,
Justin (Shae) Brockman of Nancy and Seth Elam of Crab Orchard; four daughters,
Dawn (Steve) Petrill of Ohio, Dionne (Steve) Nichols of Virginia, Toyna (Darren)
Pike of Stanford and Stacy (Bill) Eckley of Japan; a brother, James (Vicki)
Brockman of Lancaster; two sisters, Bonnie (Tim) Donihi of Florida and Mary Beth
(Michael) Flanagan of Texas.
He
was preceded in death by a brother, Allen Joseph Brockman.
Services
will be 2 p.m. Monday at Forks of Dix River Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry
Browning and Father Ralph Bieting officiating. Visitation is 4-9 p.m. today at
Spurlin Funeral Home.
Burial
will be in the Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford. Pallbearers are Tom

homemaker.

2010, at Charleston Health Care in Danville.

Tuesday, Oct. 30, 1917, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late John
Henry and Mattie Privett Stull. She was the widow of Arnold H. Gooch. Dorothy
was former owner and operator of Stull & Gooch Grocery and worked at
Patterson’s Store. She was a member of Kings Mountain United Methodist Church.
Dorothy
leaves behind a daughter, Imogene Correll of Stanford; two brothers, Carlton and
Raymond Stull, both of Kings Mountain; a sister, Lois Raby of Washington State;
two grandchildren, Christy McGee and Stephen Correll; and three
great-grandchildren, Matthew, Logan and Lance Correll; and two great-grand
children, Elijah Martin and Tristan Correll.
Dorothy
was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers, Jasper and Elmer
Stull.

Nov. 22, 1930, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late William Estel
and Eva James French. She was a homemaker, an avid genealogy researcher, a
University of Kentucky basketball fan and the widow of Joe Good.
She
was also preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Survivors
include her daughter, Beverly Embry; grandson, Jason (Jennifer) Embry; one great
grandchild; brothers, Donald (Jane) French of Indiana and Gerald and Tom (Diane)
French of Michigan; sisters, Juanita Bennett of Ohio, Janice Walker and Carole

residence. Born on Wednesday, February 22nd, 1922 in Casey County. She is the
daughter of Willie & Martha Sims Wall and the widow of William Terrell
Hatter to whom she wed on July 25th, 1941 and shared 56 years of marriage
together. She was a homemaker and member of Grove Ridge Baptist Church.
Pauline leaves behind her sons Lyndale “Dale” (Betty) Hatter of Cincinnati,
Ohio, Raymond Hatter of Liberty, James (Stella) Hatter of Walltown; daughters
Diane (Steve) Sims of Walltown, Joan (Don) Spears, Kay (Ron) Spears both of

of Hurricane Ridge; a daughter-in-law Oca Hatter of Walltown; a sister Ella B.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers Jack, Edd,

was the widow of John Walter Helton, who preceded her in death on Dec. 7, 2002.

June 11, 1918, in Rockcastle County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late
Nathan and Sally Ann Bishop Brummett.
She
was a member of West Brodhead Church of God, a commissioned Kentucky Colonel and
an avid UK and Cincinnati Reds fan.
Survivors
Include three daughters, Elizabeth Allen of Crab Orchard, Evelyn (Dave) Cooper
of Springdale, Ohio, and Grace (Larry) Cooper of Cincinnati, Ohio; two sons,

Ralph E. Hines, 47, Crawfordsville, died 9:52 p.m. Monday in St. Clare Medical Center. Mr. Hines had been a carpenter for Jim Bittle Construction and had previously worked for Jeff Rutan Plumbing. He was a member of the American Legion and served in the U.S. Army National Guard.
He was born Aug. 19, 1954 at Stanford, Ky. to George and Lucille Rector Hines. He married Carol Montgomery on Aug. 19, 2000 in Waynetown. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Tausha and Stephanie Hines, both of Crawfordsville; two stepdaughters, Shlena Harwood and Stacy Harwood, both of Crawfordsville; two stepsons, Kevin Harwood and Derk Harwood, both of Crawfordsville; a brother, John, Crab Orchard, Ky.; and seven step-grandchildren. Nancy
M. Hunn was called from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Sunday, March
28, 2010, at the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati.
Nancy
was born Sept. 16, 1939, to the late Charles “Todd” Hunn and Mary Ann Givens
Hunn of Stanford.
She
was a 1958 graduate of the former Lincoln High School and later in life she
moved to Cincinnati where was employed at the Princeton City School District for
many years.
Nancy
confessed a hope in Christ and became a devoted member of the Bethel A.M.E.
Church in Cincinnati. She loved God, her church, family and friends. She was
also a former member of the 50th Club and the Lincoln Heights Senior Citizens.
She loved to travel, crochet and have fun. She had such a “giving” spirit.
Nancy
was preceded in death by her loving daughter, June Warford; and two brothers,
Charles Hunn Jr. and Donald Hunn.
She
leaves to cherish her memories, three sisters, Dorothy Napier of Danville, Carol
(Ernest) Smith and Emma Jarman of Cincinnati; a brother, James (Ethel) Hunn of
Danville; a sister-in-law, Pauline Hunn of Stanford; and a host of nieces,
nephews, cousins and friends.
Nancy’s
chapter is completed, a page turned, a life well lived, a rest well earned.
Funeral
services will be at noon Tuesday at Bethel A.M.E. Church in Lockland, Ohio.

She enjoyed fishing, horseback riding, walking on the beach, riding her scooter and spending time with great friends. She was a beautiful person and will be missed by many.

CRAB
ORCHARD — Doug Smith, 75, of Stanford passed away Thursday, April 29, 2010, at
University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington. He was the husband
of Sandra Dyehouse Smith.
Born
Aug. 23, 1934, in Garrard County, Ky., he was the son of the late James William
and Lillian M. Campbell Smith. He worked as a farmer and was a former member of
Crab Orchard Masonic Lodge No. 636. He was a member of Tennessee Walking Horse
Breeders and Exhibitors Association and a member of Drakes Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors
Include his wife, Sandra Jean Dyehouse Smith of Stanford; three sons, Douglas
(Dixie) Smith of Stanford, Eddie (Ruth) Smith of Stanford and Mike (Vickie)
Smith of Lancaster; two daughters, Karen Smith Cain and Donna Jean (David)
Schmidt, both of Louisville; a sister, Roberta (Paul) Belcher of Cincinnati; a
host of nieces, nephews and cousins; seven grandchildren, Jared, Misty, Cristen,
Seth, Tessa, John David and Megan; and 11 great-grandchildren, Aiden, Taylor,
Jacob, Levi, Sierra, Ethan, Alden, Brecken, Tamson, Noah and Londyn.
In
addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Norman
Smith.
Funeral
serices will be 1 p.m. Saturday at McKnight Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Kaywood
Morris and Bro. Billy Estes. Burial will be in Crab Orchard Cemetery.
Pallbearers
will be Dougie, Eddie, Tommy, Jared, John David and Seth Smith.
Honorary
pallbearers will be David Oaks, Jack Haggard, John Sparks and Billy Hawley.
Visitation
is after 5 p.m. today at McKnight Funeral Home.

HUSTONVILLE
— Max Combest Stephenson, 89, a lifetime resident of Hustonville, passed away
on April 17, 2010.
Born
Feb. 20, 1921, he was the son of the late Stanley Pruitt and Pauline Combest
Stephenson.
Max
grew up in Lincoln County and upon graduating from Hustonville High School,
enrolled at Centre College and completed a degree there in 1942. He enlisted in
the United States Army and served his country during World War II in Europe and
N. Africa with an honorable discharge in 1945.
Upon
returning to the United States, Max married Elzie Jenkins, a WW II veteran, of
Louisiana. They returned to reside in Hustonville where Max was a mail carrier
for about 34 years until retirement. He and Elzie were very active in their
community, as well as longtime faithful members of Hustonville Christian Church.
Along
with his wife, Elzie, Max is survived by a brother, Stanley; and his daughter,
Susan Fitzgerald and her husband.
Services
will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hustonville Christian Church with visitation after
11:30 a.m. Burial
will be in Hustonville Cemetery.

Robert Paul Walrod, 77, of Stanford died Thursday, April 15, 2010 in Cincinatti, Ohio. He was born December 14, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Robert Walrod and Lillian Gosparlin Ickes. He was a machinist for 40 years at AB Dick Incorporated in Chicago, IL. He was an Army Veteran.
Survivors include his children, Cordula Walrod of Germany, Tony Walrod of Georgia, Robert Walrod of Chicago, Teri Beier (Mike) of Schaumburg, IL and Tommy Walrod of Chicago, IL; three grandchildren, Amanda Walrod, Jessica and Kitt Beier; an uncle Daniel Gosparlin (Gwen) and special cousins, Pati Bucwald and Mark Hipps.
Visitation will be Sunday from 5-8, service will be 1 P.M. Monday at Spurlin Funeral HOme with Father Tobias officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford. Caswell Saufley Post# 18 American legion will be presenting Military Honors.

April 14, 1909-June 14, 2002 Leona Wilson, 93, Crawfordsville, died 4:30 a.m. Friday in her home. Mrs. Wilson was a member of One Way Pentecostal Church.
She was born April 14, 1909, at Crab Orchard, Ky., to Mr. and Mrs. James Turner. She married Homer Wilson. He died Oct. 12, 2002. Survivors include a daughter, Christine Cox, Crawfordsville; a son, Cecil, Long Beach, Miss.; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grand children. A daughter, Doris Davis; a son, Bobby Joe; a brother, Charles Turner; and two sisters, Haley Deck and Rissie Keller are deceased.
Funeral services are scheduled 10 a.m. Monday in Hunt and Sons Funeral Home, 107 N. Grant Ave., with the Rev. Dan Aldrich officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill North Cemetery. Friends may 2-6 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
