STANFORD - Irene Anderson Bailey, of Indianapolis, formerly of Preachersville, died Saturday.

She was the daughter of the late Clarence W. and Nannie Mae Gooch Anderson.

Survivors include a sister, Doris A. Spurlin of Preachersville; and a brother, Edward W. Anderson of Harrodsburg.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Forrest Lawn Memorial Chapel in Indianapolis. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday.

WAYNESBURG -- Services for James Matthew Bastin, 76, of Eubank, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home by
Rev. John Silvers. Burial will be in Double Springs Cemetery.

He died Tuesday at University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center, Lexington, following a farm accident at a Lincoln County farm. Bastin
apparently fell off a tractor while changing gears.

Born Nov. 1 1922, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Roy and Farbie R. Bastin. He was a businessman and member of the
Church of God of Prophecy in Waynesburg. He was the member of the Ruritan Club in Eubank and the founder of the Waynesburg Area
Rescue Squad and the Eubank Fire Department. He was an avid hunter.

Survivors include his wife, Violet P. Bastin; three sons, Glen R. Bastin of Louisville, Russell M. Bastin of Somerset, and Mark A. Bastin
of Somerset; three sisters, Dessie Caudill, Deltie Tackett and Mollie Wall-All, all of Eubank; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded
in death by a son, James D. Bastin.

CRAB ORCHARD -- William Henry "Bill" Baugh, 64, of Sassafras Tree Lane, Louisville, formerly of Lincoln County, died Tuesday at Veteran's Hospital, Louisville. Born May 6, 1935, in Danville, he was a son of the late Charles and Sally K. Brummett Baugh. He was a retired construction worker, an Air Force veteran and had attended a Methodist Church.

Survivors include three sons, William "Billy" Baugh Jr. of Cincinnati, Charles Baugh of Spokane, Wash., and Dave Baugh of Henderson, Nev.; a sister, Alice Klara of Melbourne, Fla.; four brothers, Ed Baugh of North Ridgeville, Ohio, Craig Baugh of La Grange, Charles Baugh of Amherst, Ohio, and Ray Baugh of Crab Orchard; and six grandchildren.

 Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Crab Orchard Cemetery. There will be no visitation. McKnight-Martin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

CRAB ORCHARD -- Pamela Lynn Martin Bennett, 50, of Ky. 39 North, died today at her home of complications associated with cancer. Born Dec. 27, 1948, in Dayton, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Leonard and Mary F. Harness Martin.

She was a service manager of Entre Computer Systems of Dayton and a member and pianist of Blue Lick Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Ernest Bennett of Crab Orchard; two daughters, Tammy Martin and Stacy Bennett, both of Crab Orchard; a sister, Gail Sprinkle of West Carrollton, Ohio; a brother, Steve Martin of Ernest Carrollton; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandchild. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at McKnight-Martin Funeral Home by Wayne Stephens and Dan Gutenson. Burial will be in Crab Orchard Cemetery.  Born May 21, 1911, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late James and Mary Wyler Shaw. She was a homemaker and a former employee of Cowden Manufacturing Co. She was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church and the widow of W.T. Blankenship.

 Survivors include two sons, Tom Blankenship and Billy Shaw Blankenship, both of Preachersville; three sisters, Ann Calloway of Crab Orchard, Rose James of Stanford and Emma James of Dayton, Ohio; and two grandsons. Pallbearers will be Rudolph Wyler, Jim Calloway, Charles Brummett, Harry Helton, Orville Whitaker and Theo Nantz. CRAB ORCHARD -- John Daniel Braley, 82, of Ky. 39, died Sunday at his home. Born Feb. 15, 1915, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Ralph E. and Nora Denny Braley. He was a retired farmer and carpenter.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Margaret Brown Braley of Crab Orchard; three sons, Edwin H. Braley, Dwight D. Braley and Daniel H. Braley, all of Crab Orchard; two brothers, Thomas Braley and Foster Braley, both of Cincinnati; two sisters, Josie Gooch of Somerset and Alberta Rogers of Blanchester, Ohio; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Forest W. Braley.

WAYNESBURG - Randal Scott "Scotty" Brown, 26, of Waynesburg died Friday at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset.

Born Feb.18, 1982, in Danville to Randal Eugene and Patsy Lynn Sims Brown, he was a tool and die man for Toyotetsu (TTAI) in Somerset, a 2000 graduate of Lincoln County High School, a 2002 graduate of Somerset Technical College where he received a 4.0 grade point average and National Honor Society recognition, and a member of Pond Baptist Church.

Scotty loved playing Monopoly and Playstation, the outdoors, deer hunting, paintball, his pitbull, Jack Russell and Doberman dogs; and, most of all, riding his Yamaha motorcycle.

Survivors include his loving wife of five years, Alicia Jo Walker Brown of Waynesburg; his daughter, Taylor Brown; his parents, Randy and Patsy Brown of Kings Mountain; a brother, Eric Lynn (Natasha) Brown of Kings Mountain; his maternal grandparents, Wallace and Rose Alma Sims of Kings Mountain; his in-laws, Bobby and Shelly King of Kings Mountain, and Charlie and Barb Walker of Somerset; two brother-in-laws, Dylan King of Kings Mountain and Ethan Walker of Somerset; a sister-in-law, Angela Walker of Waynesburg; a nephew, Brady; a niece, Haylee; and several cousins and special friends.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Charles Leon and Bessie Brown.

An Appreciation of Life service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home by Bros. Eric Douglas and Brad King, with burial to follow in Sims Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may go to Pond Baptist Church.

MORELAND -- Robert Duell Coffman Sr., 76, of Louisville, died Wednesday at Norton Health Care Pavilion in Louisville. Born Aug. 4, 1923, in Casey County, he was the son of the late Robert Leslie and Agnes Coffman. He served in the Navy for 27 years before he worked in 24 years at the Naval Ordinance in Louisville. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife Edith C. Coffman; a son, Robert D. Coffman Jr. of Burke, Va.; two grandchildren; and one sister, Mildred Reed of Hustonville. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at W. L. She was born Dec. 28, 1916, the daughter of the late Campbell and Vickie Mullins Addington. She was a homemaker, a member of Burgin Baptist Church and a member of Waynesburg Order of the Eastern Star No. 501.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas Collins, Boston, Ky., and Steve Collins, Lexington; four daughters, Velma Ware, Sarasota, Fla., Peggy Estes, Lexington, Barbara Goodlett, Venice, Fla., and Linda Vaught, Somerset; a brother, Ernest Addington, Hustonville, Ky.; a sister, Geneva Gooch, South Fork, Ky.; 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.

She was born September 21, 1958, a daughter of Estill Hall and Shirley (Branham) Hall. She was a Patient Care Tech. a Ephraim McDowell Hospital and a member of Pleasant Point Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Earl Cornett, whom she married on March 21, 1976;two sons, Thomas Clay and (Anjanette) Hall, Ft. Eutos, VA. and Timothy Earl and (Stacey) Cornett, Kings Mt, Ky.; one brother Willard Hall, Kings Mt, Ky.; one sister, Bertha Hall, Science Hill, Ky. four grandchildren, Hannah & Tyler Cornett, Dakota and Arianna Hall.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 P.M., Wednesday November 14, 2001 at the Chapel of Morris and Hislope Funeral home with Bro. Bill Rhodus officiating. Burial will be in the Double Springs Cemetery. COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Sylvia (Norris) Costain, 68, formerly of Hustonville, died Wednesday, Feb. 14, in her home.

After coping with a lung disease for years, she finally went to be with her Lord - and with her little daughter, Christy Ann, who passed away at age 5. Sylvia was a home economics major and University of Kentucky graduate, teaching high school students both in the United States and abroad. She visited dozens of foreign countries during her wide travels. Sylvia was a homemaker, loving wife and devoted mother, who reflected biblical values throughout her life. All those she knew agree that she was a model of love and grace.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe and Hilda Sapp Norris, and by her daughter. Surviving immediate family members include her husband R.Y.; their sons, Bill (Sherry) and Brad (Shellie); granddaughters, Ginna, Avery and Sydney; as well as Sylvia's sister, Patricia Warren (Roy), all of Colorado Springs; and an uncle, B.C. Norris of Middleburg.

Interment was at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver. Memorial Service was at Forestgate Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, February 20.

Survivors include four sons, Adolphus Gooch, Clifton Gooch Arnold L. Gooch and James C. Gooch, all of Kings Mountain; three daughters, Edith Luttrell of Kings Mountain, Mary E. Jewell Durham, 82, of the Dabney Community, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004, at her residence.

She was born July 27, 1922, in Casey County, daughter of the late Eddie and Annie Bastin Wheeler.

She was retired from Palm Beach Company, where she worked as a seamstress for 21 years, and was a member of Somerset First Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include her husband, Chester Durham, whom she married Sept. 14, 1940; a daughter, Sylvia Lee, Somerset; eight brothers, Roy (and Carrie) Wheeler, Claude (and Edna) Wheeler and Clyde (and Lorraine) Wheeler, all of Ohio, Reed (and Betty) Wheeler, Florida, Junior Estel (and Evelyn) Wheeler, Liberty, Ky., and Ed Wheeler, Clifford (and Catherine) Wheeler, and Ronald (and Joyce) Wheeler, all of Ohio; eight grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Betty Lou Durham Meece; and three brothers who died in infancy.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today (Tuesday, Sept. 14), at the Chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with the Revs. Steve Wheeler and John Amspaugh officiating.

STANFORD -- Services for Charles William Elliott, 64, of Green River Road, were scheduled for today at Fox Funeral Home by the Rev. Gary King. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery. He died Wednesday at Veterans Administration Hospital, Lexington.

Born March 27, 1935, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Ransom T. and Ruby Garner Elliott. He was a retired farmer and an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He had served as an Air Force mechanic for eight years.

Survivors include his wife, Rachel Miracle Elliott; a son, Charles E. Elliott of Stanford; a daughter, Betty S. Sims of Stanford; three brothers, John G. Allen Ray "Al" Evans, 78, of Terrace Court, died Tuesday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born Dec. 27, 1924, in Chicago, he was the son of the late Allen R. and Gladys B. Jutt Evans. He was a real estate salesman, broker and appraiser, and former co-owner of Montgomery Real Estate with his partner Buddy Edwards. He was a former member and vice president of Danville Board of Realtors.

He had been a salesman for International Shoe Co. in St. Louis and Sein and Glass Shoe Co. in Pennsylvania. He and his wife were owners of Model Laundry and Dry Cleaning in Danville and Harrodsburg.

He was a graduate of Columbia Military Academy in Columbia, Tenn., and attended University of Kentucky where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He was a member of American Legion Post 52 in Harrodsburg, a former member of Harrodsburg and Danville Rotary clubs, and a member of Danville Country Club. After his retirement, Evans served as a Hospice volunteer for 14 years and for American Cancer Society. He was a member and deacon at First Christian Church and volunteered at the church's Christian Life Center.

A Navy veteran of World War II, Evans served in the Pacific Theatre aboard the U.S.S. Fitzgerald.

Survivors include his wife, Allene F. Fleshman Evans; a son, Samuel A. Evans of San Jose, Calif.; and a granddaughter.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday at Stith Funeral Home. Memorials may go to Heritage Hospice.

DANVILLE, Ky.- Allene Elizabeth Fleshman Evans died Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at McDowell Place, Danville.

Born June 10, 1920 in Tazewell County, West Graham, Va. (now Bluefield, Va.), she was the daughter of the late Wade and Amma C. Ruble Fleshman Hampton. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Danville. She was a volunteer for Heritage Hospice Inc., Ephraim McDowell Health Auxiliary, Danville-Boyle County Library, Adult Learning Center, and the Christian Life Center. She retired from Central Kentucky Federal Savings Bank as an assistant cashier and secretary. She was also formerly employed by the Flat Top National Bank of Bluefield in the same capacity.

She was predeceased by her husband, Allen Ray Evans; two brothers, A. Elmo Fleshman and Wade H. Fleshman Jr.; and a sister, Anna Juanita Watson.

Survivors include a son, Samuel Ashworth Evans and daughter in law Karen Doi Evans of Campbell, Calif.; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Doi Evans of Campbell; one sister, Agnes Fleshman Murphey of Melbourne, Fla.; two sisters in law, Ruth Creasy Fleshman and Marguerite Ashworth Smith, both of Bluefield, Va.; two nieces, Patricia Murphy Compton and Karen Smith Evans of Bluefield, Va.; a nephew, Wade Hampton Fleshman.

She married Hanry Clark Lair and he preceded her in death on September 25, 1997.

Born Sept. 4, 1925, in Lincoln County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Virgil M. and Ann Liza Bee Sims Reynolds. She was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church and a retired cook, having worked at Broughtontown School for more than 20 years.

Survivors Include five children, Sheila Kilgore of Nashville, Tenn., and David (Emma) Smith, Marilyn Carmen, Donald Smith and Marlene Brown, all of Crab Orchard; three sisters, Marcia (Harold) Faulkner, Alma Jean (Ralph) Delk and Betty (Nolan) Scott; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Earl Smith; a sister, Janelle Stone; and six brothers, Carl, Leo, Boyce, Glen, Ralph and Virgil Reynolds Jr.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at McKnight Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Vola Brown. Burial will be in Bethel Church of Christ Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Brandon and Bradley Brown, Shane Carmen, Dennie and Joseph Smith and Roy Sharp.

STANFORD -- Services for Mary Elizabeth Sampson Taylor, 58, of Halls Gap Estates, Stanford, will be 1 p.m. Friday at Pentecostal Fellowship Church, Lancaster, by the Revs. Jim Cook and Tommy Wall. Burial will be in Fellowship Cemetery. She died Tuesday at her home.

Born May 16, 1941, in Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Lorenzo and Hazel Billy Ward Sampson. She was a certified nursing assistant at Stanford House Nursing Home for 15 years and a member of Pentecostal Fellowship Church.

 Survivors include two daughters, Polly A. Cochran of Lancaster and Sherri L. Long of Stanford; six brothers, Tex, Earl and Cecil Sampson, all of Dayton, Ohio, Willard Sam-pson of New Lebanon, Ohio, Dow Sampson of Visialla, Calif., and Clarence Sampson of Heritage, Tenn.; five sisters, Virginia Bake and Alice Lambert, both of Lincolnton, Ga., Norma L. CRAB ORCHARD -- Curtis Todd, 59, of 260 Jim Weaver Road died Friday at his home. Born Aug. 30, 1940, in Lincoln County, he was a son of Leonard and Vernie Reynolds Todd of Crab Orchard. He served three years as deputy jailer under former Lincoln County Jailer Bill Snyder. He was a member of the Baptist church. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Ann Phillips.

Mrs. Faye Catlett Wade, 89, of Franklin Avenue, Danville, died Thursday at the Friendship House.

Born November 2, 1906 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late John Leslie and Cordelia Hungate Catlett.

She was a retired employee of Palm Beach Company and a member of Bethel No. 1 Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was the widow of William Wade.

Survivors include one sister, Beatrice Peavler, Harrodsburg; one brother, Woodrow Catlett, Harrodsburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 25, at the Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home with the Rev. James F. Byrd officiating. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery, Stanford.

Pallbearers were Donald, Garnett and Everett Catlett, Alvin Crawley, Jr., Tony and Charles Hudson. Alvin Crawley, Sr. was an honorary bearer.

MORELAND - Services for Jake G. Walters Sr., 84, of Moreland, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at New Hope Baptist Church by David Fralix and Joey Harness.

Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery, with military rites by Boyle Post 46, American Legion.

He died Saturday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born June 10, 1921 in Greenville, Tenn., he was the son of the late Register M. and Roxie Hensley Walters. He retired after 25 years from Ford Motor Co. in Sharonville, Ohio, where he worked as a millwright.

He also was a woodworker, a Mason with Lodge 94 in Montgomery, Ohio, and a member of United Auto Workers and New Hope Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran of the 574th Air Material Squadron and a World War II veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Jenkins Walters; a son, Jake Walters Jr. of Hammersville, Ohio; a stepson, James M. Carrier of Stanford; two daughters, Nancy G. Walters of California, and Jone M. Anderson of Stanford; three grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; a great-grandchild; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Aaron Anderson, Scott Carrier, Jim Jenkins, Glyn Southerland, Paul Rice and Gary Douglas.

She was the wife of former Lincoln County Judge Sam Whitaker. She was a retired teacher, homemaker and a member of Calvary Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include five daughters; Charlene Swope of Stanford, Pauline Wall of Danville, Aline Hail of Gilbertsville, Laura Ruth Durham of Mount Vernon, and Loretta Whitaker of Paducah; a son, Samuel E. Whitaker, Columbus, Ohio; two brothers, Cleston Saylor of Brodhead and Howard Saylor of Richmond; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Born Feb. 22, 1928, in Casey County, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Minnie Luttrell Gastineau. She was a homemaker and a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church. She was the widow of Wonza L. Williams.

Survivors include three brothers, Vertrice and William Gastineau, both of Middleburg, and Junior Gastineau of Kings Mountain. She was preceded in death by a son, Vernon Lee Cornett. Services will be 6 p.m. Friday at Fox Funeral Home by the Rev. John Dean. Burial will be in K.P. Hall Cemetery at Kings Mountain.
