STANFORD - Lucy Adams, daughter of William and Heidi Adams of Stanford, was stillborn Saturday at Fort Logan Hospital.

Other survivors include two sisters, Samantha and Sarah Adams, both at home; maternal grandparents, Garland and Jean Adams of Stanford; and great-grandparents, Rose and Charlie Burton of Stanford.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Hustonville Cemetery, by Dale Denton.

Fox Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Alexa Conover-Baker (nee Barnhisel), died Saturday, Dec. 27.

A native of Lincoln County, she was recently living at Llanfair Retirement Community in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was a retired secretary, a member of Cincinnati Colony Society of Mayflower Descendants – St. Clair Chapter, Daughters of the American Colonists – Cincinnati Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, and First Families of Ohio; and was the widow of Harvey Conover and James W. Baker, Jr.

Survivors include Jay W. (Marchell) Baker and Jack W. (Angelique) Baker; step grandchildren, Corissa Hanson, Chantell, Celeste, Brandon, Matthew and Felicia Baker; step great grandson, Brody Hanson; aunt of Donald (Dorene) Kraft, Thelma Kraft Freeman, Charles (Betty) Foreman, Evelyn Jestice, Gayle Meyer, Gene Conover, Joanne (Jim) Williamson, Linda Conover (Compton Reeves), Leonard (Diane) Conover, Sandy (Dave) Beamer, DeeDee (Joe) Roettgers and Nancy (Tom) Whyte; sister-in-law, Dolores Conover; brother-in-law, Bob (Pat) Baker; and cousins, Virginia Durham Bray and Gary (Sandy) Baugh.

STANFORD - Martha Holman Ballard, 96, wife of Jack Ballard, died Tuesday.

Born Thursday, July 4, 1912, in Spencer County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Louella and "Nish" Heady. She was affiliated with the Charme' Shop of Lexington for many years. She also had a great love of horses and continued to ride as long as she was able.

Along with her husband of 27 years, she also is survived by her son, Daniel L. Holman of Berry, Ky.; and a grandson, Rhett Enerson of San Diego, Calif.

Graveside services are 2:15 p.m. today at Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

STANFORD - Truman E. Bastin, 79, of Stanford died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, at Fort Logan Hospital.

Born Monday, Nov. 11, 1929, in Lincoln County, Ky., he was a son of Ray and Ethyl Robinson Bastin. Truman sacrificed for his country in the  Korean War, receiving a Purple Heart with the Company L, 15th Infantry, Regiment APO 468. Truman retired after 18 years of service at Saufley Implement Co., was a farmer and devoted father. Truman was a former deacon of Calvary Hill Baptist Church and currently a member of Mount Vernon Church of Christ.

Truman leaves behind his second wife, Lois Jane Bastin of Stanford, whom he wed Feb. 3, 1996; a son, Truman D. Bastin and his wife Kelly of Glasgow, Ky.; a daughter, Susan Moore and her husband the Rev. Jason of Ferguson, Ky.; two stepsons, Ricky Cromer and his wife Patty, and Wayne Burton and his wife Jennifer, both of Brodhead; a stepdaughter, Bonnie Elam and her husband Jody of Crab Orchard; five grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Sam Bastin of Stanford; and three sisters, Bessie Allen of Stanford, Dean Enging of Mississippi, and Ann Andress of Oxford, Ohio.

Truman was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Laura Moore Bastin; and eight brothers and sisters.

An Appreciation of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, at Fox Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jason Moore and Bro. Marvin Cromer officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery with military rites by Caswell Saufley Post 18 of the American Legion and the United States Army Honor Guard.

Active pallbearers will be Chase Moore, Jody Elam, Mark Bastin, Ricky Cromer, Travis Bastin and Wayne Burton. Honorary pallbearers are Barbara Smith, his grandson Caleb Moore, Charles Machal and Robert Elkins.

MORELAND - Services for Margaret Ann Baughman, 80, of Hustonville , will be 2 p.m. today at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Revs. Betsy Smith and Don Burton. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery .

She died Thursday at her home.

Born July 17, 1923, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Hettie Floyd Baughman. She was retired from the University of New York at Oneonta where she served as associate dean of students. She was a member of Hustonville  Christian Church and received her undergraduate degree from Brenau College in Gainesville, Ga., and her master's from Indiana University.

Survivors include two brothers, Sam H. Baughman of Hustonville and John H. Baughman of Athens, Ala.

Pallbearers will be Billy Ray Douglas, Josh Douglas, Steve Porter, Glen Shearer, Jimmy Baughman, Fred Reichenbach and Brian Gover.

CRAB ORCHARD - Joe Bell, 75, of Stanford died Friday at his home.

He was the husband of Carol James Bell, whom he married Nov. 24, 1979.

Joe was born in Adair County on March 7, 1933, to the late Hestand Taylor Bell and Edna May Simmons. He was a former employee of ATR in Danville and also formerly operated Bell's Barber Shop in Crab Orchard. Joe was a member of the Blue Lick Baptist Church and a veteran of the  Army.

Other survivors include four daughters, Tracy (David) Mudd of Lebanon, Debbie (Duane) Cox of Stanford, Jana (Jeremy) Maples of Hustonville, and Christy (Joey) Mullins of Waynesburg; a son, Michael (Melinda) Kennedy of Hustonville; a brother, Sam (Sandy) Bell of Munfordville, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Joe was preceded in death by his sister, Louise Woods.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Buffalo Springs Cemetery by Bros. Wayne Stevens and Stewart Dawson with military honors by Caswell Saufley American Legion Post 18.

Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Tuesday at McKnight Funeral Home.

CUMMING, Ga. - Jeanette Scott Boone, 87, of Atlanta, Ga., died Friday at Northside Hospital in Atlanta.

She was a retired bridal consultant and a member of Christian Tabernacle in Dayton, Ohio. She was the widow of Arthur L. Boone.

Survivors include two daughters, Sylvia Hanson of Winter Haven, Fla., and Sandra Burnfield of Cumming; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Buffalo Springs Cemetery, Stanford, by the Rev. Stephen Dunn.

Born Feb. 14, 1932, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Carl and Ola Joyner Cain. He was a farmer and a member of Turnersville Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Joyce Ann James Cain; a son, Lynn Robert Cain (Kimberly) of Stanford; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Maxine Cain Tunnis.

Georgia B. Carey, 84, of Junction City died Monday, March 31, 2008, at her residence.

Born Saturday, Oct. 13, 1923, in Danville, Ky., she was a daughter of the late George and Mattie Minor Bruce Whitehouse. She also was preceded in death by her stepfather, George W. Whitehouse.

Mrs. Carey was a retired cook for Boyle County High School and a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son, Butch (Sandra) Carey of Danville; daughters, Barbara (Mark) Winburn of Junction City and Martha Kay (Larry) McKiddy of Danville; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Carey; a brother; and three sisters.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2008, at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve James officiating. Burial will follow in Buffalo Springs Cemetery, Stanford.

Howard L. Carmickle, 77, of Burgin, formerly of Moreland, died Monday, May 8, 2000 at his residence.

Born April 14, 1923 in Mercer County, he was a son of the late Charlie and Erma Merriman Carmickle. He was the widower of Virginia L. Douglas Carmickle.

He was a veteran of World War II, a farmer and a former employee of Douglas Heating and Plumbing. He was retired from Whirlpool Corp.

He was a member of the Bowen United Methodist Church.

Survivors include: two daughters, Irma Woodrow, Burgin, and Lurenda Melton, Albany, GA; two sons, James L. Carmickle Hustonville, and Jerry S. Carmickle, Moreland; one sister, Lucille Wilder, Anacoco, LA; one brother, Charlie Carmickle, Danville; six grandchildren, two great grandchildren and one step great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 11, at the W. L. Pruitt Funeral Home in Moreland, with Rev. John Sanders and Rev. Doug Lester officiating. Burial will be in the Hustonville Cemetery

SOMERSET — Rita Dianna McGuffey Carrigan, 52, of Eubank died Tuesday at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Born Feb. 24, 1956, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late William and Ruth Gorley McGuffey. She is an active member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Somerset, where she served as the director of the children’s program. Rita was an employee of American Greetings in Danville for 35 years.

Survivors include her husband, David Carrigan, whom she married on April 30, 1983, in Lincoln County; two sons, Brian Carrigan (and fiancιe, Laura McQueary) of Eubank, and Chris (Kelly) Carrigan of Science Hill; and three brothers, Randy (Judy) McGuffey and Terry McGuffey, both of Waynesburg, and Roger (Kelly McGuffey) of North Carolina.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Bro. Marty Shadoan and Bro. Don Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Pulaski Baptist Church Cemetery in Eubank.

Born Jan. 15, 1911, in Letcher County, she was the daughter of the late Dawson and Addie Whitaker Dixon. She was a homemaker and the widow of Castle Caudill.

Survivors include three sons, Ray Neal Caudill (Zella) of Lexington, Ronnie Gene Caudill (Sandy) of Stanford and Robert Darrell Caudill (Karen) of South Pittsburg, Tenn.; a daughter, Harriett Ann Caudill Sizemore of Louisville; a brother, Bill Dean Dixon (Dorothy) of Perrysburg, Ohio; a sister, Katie Hampton of Apison, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Spurlin Funeral Home with Elder Murl Caudill and Haston Whitaker. Burial will be in Double Springs Cemetery in Waynesburg. Casketbearers will be grandsons. Honorary bearers will be grandchildren.

Elizabeth Chambers, 83, of Hughley Lane, died Saturday, January 12, 2002 at Ephraim McDowell Medical Center.

Born March 21, 1918 in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Margaret Burton Bryant. She was the widow of Irvine Chambers.

She was a homemaker and a Baptist. Survivors include: three daughters, Lue Anna McKenney and Mary Frances Gross, both of Harrodsburg, and Thelma Hall of Lexington; two sons, W.C. Chambers of Greenwood, IN, and David Lee Chambers of Parksville; a brother, Marshall Bryant of Danville; four sisters, Roberta Jackson of Danville, Geneva Brickey of Lancaster, Alma Robinson and Josephine Hurt of Junction City; seven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home. The Rev. Byron Jessup and the Rev. Tim McKenzie officiated and burial was in Bellevue Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Teddy McKenney Jr., Tommy Chambers, David Murphy, David Allen Chambers, Jeff King and Rick Reynolds. Honorary pallbearers were Cindy Nevius, Dana Murphy and Janice Dearing.

Born March 29, 1914, he was the son of the late Vernon and Virgie Ellis Crews. He was a retired farmer and carpenter and a member of Westside Community United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Erma Lou Russell Crews.

Survivors include his two daughters, Carolyn Singleton of Moreland and Cherry (Dennis) Sims of Kings Mountain; two sisters, Betty Smith and Beatrice Peyton, both of Indiana; three grandchildren, Jimmy Singleton, Jeff McWhorter and Camille Singleton Towns; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Westside Community United Methodist Church by the Rev. Ken Hughes, with burial in Hustonville Cemetery.

Born July 14, 1965, in Mount Vernon, she was the daughter of Margie Hoskins Baker and the late Arlis Eugene Brown. She was an employee of McLane Cumberland Co. in Nicholasville and a member of Crab Orchard Baptist Church.

Born June 29, 1935, in Ellisburg, she was a daughter of the late Franklin P. and Della Leathers Land. She was a seamstress at Palm Beach Co. for 30 years and a member of Calvary Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Lincoln Davis; four daughters, Susan Davis Teater of Lancaster, Barbara Terry, Connie Davis Hale and Shanna Peck, all of Stanford; and six grandchildren.

MOUNT VERNON - H. Lee Durham, 88, of Mount Vernon, died Saturday at Rockcastle Hospital.

Born June 24, 1915, in McKinney, he was the son of the late Joseph M. and Vida E. Baugh Durham.

He was a retired University of Kentucky agriculture agent and received numerous career awards. He was a graduate of McKinney High School, earned a bachelor of science degree from Berea College and a master's degree in agriculture from UK. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving as part of the Eighth Air Force in the European Theater.

He also was a member of Mount Vernon First Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, choir member, Sunday school teacher and member of several church committees. Survivors include his wife, Laura R. Whitaker Durham; a daughter, Laura Lee Durham Wesley of Lancaster; and a grandson.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church by the Revs. Eddie Nation, Maynard Head and Wendell Romans. Burial will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Buffalo Springs Cemetery,  in Stanford. Dowell & Martin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Carol E. Farmer, 66, of Stanford, died Saturday at University of Kentucky Medical Center. She was retired from Centre College, Danville and a member of Latonia Christian Church.

Survivors include her husband, W.D. Farmer; a son, Bill Farmer of Stanford; a daughter, Melissa Carter of Somerset; sisters, Alma Angel of Taylor Mill, Marsha Crouch of Ryland Heights, and Linda Oldiges of Independence; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Spurlin Funeral Home, Stanford. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery, Stanford.

Rev. Reeda Walker Gillespie, 86, of Harrodsburg, formerly of Danville, died Friday, April 27, 2001 at Harrodsburg Health Care.Born May 5, 1914 in Red Star, AR, she was a daughter of the late Bud Walker and Jane Wages Walker Denney. She was the widow of Harvey A. Gillespie.

She was the co-founder and former pastor of First Pentecostal Church of God (Faith Temple) for 27 years. She and Rev. Leona Huddleston Faulkner built the church and worked for 38 years in the gospel field. She was ordained by the Pentecostal Church of God in Joplin, MO and was presented her 50-year pin in 1990. She ministered to people all over the U. S. and the world. Survivors include a half sister, Opal Lane of Tahlequah, OK.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 30, at the Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home by Rev. Pat Wilson and Rev. Nancy Langdon. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford. Pallbearers were Mark Sanders, Collos Abrams, Paul Faulkner, Reed Arnett and Jim Ely. Honorary bearers were Joyce and Ken House.

CRAB ORCHARD - Mildred Mae Gray, 58, of Brodhead died Monday at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

Born May 30, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Johnny and Mildred Lucille Shaffer Durham.

She was a former employee of Gulf States Paper Co. and BPI in Stanford. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Mount Vernon.

Survivors include a daughter, Christy (Scott) Harper of Brodhead; a son, Charles Wayne Gray of Crab Orchard; a sister, Virginia (David) Roberts of Campbellsville; a brother, Charles Durham of Stanford; and three grandchildren, Bradley, Tyler and Hailey.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Ruth May and Betty Jean Durham, and brothers, Ben, John Emory and Jimmy Durham.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at McKnight Funeral Home by Bro. Chad Burdette and Bro. Junior Fields. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Tressie Denton Griffin, 87, of Harrodsburg, died Tuesday, September 1, 1998 at her residence.

Born December 7, 1910 in Boyle County, she was the daughter of the late John and Fannie Benedict Denton. She was the widow of John Wesley Griffin.

She was retired from the Danville Laundry and a member of the Church of God.

Survivors include: four sons, Curtis Griffin of Hustonville , Clarence Griffin and William A. Griffin, both of Harrodsburg, Cecil H. Griffin of Corbin; two daughters, Carolyn Josephine King of Harrodsburg and Mary Ellen Pemberton of Lancaster; one sister, Dorothy Waldon of Indianapolis; 48 grandchildren, 70 great grandchildren and 32 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four children; Ellie Mullins, Lillie Marie Ellis,, Nellie C. Tate and Essie Mae Brock.

Pallbearers were Harold Mullins, Donald Brock, Roger Pemberton, Ronnie Griffin, David King, Gary W. King, Wm. A. Griffin Jr., and Timmy Griffin. Honorary bearers were John Ryan, Kenny Griffin, Kevin Griffin, Ricky Tate and Mike E. Mullins.

Funeral services were held Friday, September 4, at the W. L. Pruitt Funeral Home in Moreland, with Rev. Larry Moore, and Rev. Gary Story officiating. Burial was in the Hustonville Cemetery.

Elby Hopkins, 77, of Crab Orchard, died Tuesday, Jan. 13 at his home.

A native of Garrard County, he was born July 28, 1931, to the late Ewell and Ellen (Saylor) Hopkins. He was a former employee of Whirlpool and Matsushita in Danville and a member of the Crab Orchard Church of Christ.

He was also preceded in death by two sons, Ricky and Eddy Hopkins.

Survivors include his wife, Loretta Naylor Hopkins of Crab Orchard; two daughters, Sandy (Marshall) Scott and Chelsea Hopkins both of Crab Orchard; a son, Lester (Shelley) Hopkins of Crab Orchard; a brother, Johnny Hopkins of Berea; two sisters, Blanche Saylor of Crab Orchard and Eunice Causey both of Crab Orchard; 10 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Smith Humes; two sons, Michael (Karen) Humes of Moreland and Dean (Margit) Humes of Germany; a brother, Osie Humes of Harrodsburg; three sisters, Bonnie Humes of Danville, Dorothy Robertson of Harrodsburg and Emma (Curtis) Corn of Moreland; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa Bishop; two brothers, Glenn and Howard Humes; and an infant grandson.

He was the son of Ray Frith of Crab Orchard and the late Ethel Ledford Frith. He was a retired Army veteran and a technician for Hornes Pest Control.

Other survivors include his wife, Barbara Blake Ledford; three brothers, Tommie and Timmie Frith, both of Crab Orchard, and Jeffery Frith of Stanford; two sisters, Regina Meece of Stanford and Ramona Snyder of Waynesburg.

Born Feb. 20, 1920, in Crab Orchard, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Ed and Nellie Brown Dyehouse. She was a homemaker and a retired library assistant at Harvey Helm Memorial Library. She was a former pianist at Crab Orchard Baptist Church. Prior to her marriage, she was accepted into the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. She was former hostess at William Whitley House State Park, a longtime member of Crab Orchard PTA and an avid UK fan. She loved golfing and horseback riding.

Survivors Include two sons, Donnie and wife Marza Martin of Lancaster and David Randy and wife Lisa Martin of Berea; a daughter, Pat Martin Godby of Harrodsburg; a sister, Sandra Smith of Stanford; four grandchildren, Vicki (Joe) Naylor, Leigh Anne (Jeff) Hurt, Jenne (Nate) Hunter and Lindsey Martin; five great-grandchildren, Dwayne and Travis May, David and Devin Hurt and Patrick Hunter; and a great-great-grandson, Hunter May. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Libby Gilbert, son-in-law, Jim Gilbert, and grandson, David Martin.

Norma Faye (Arney) Price, age 71, was joyfully welcomed in Heaven on August 27, 2008 by her parents, Eva (Thomas) Arney and Walter Arney, big sister Bonnie Brown, Bonnie’s husband Pretsel Brown and beloved niece and nephew Rhonda Baker and Michael Brown.  Norma came into this world in Crab Orchard, Kentucky and graced Cincinnati, Ohio, Nashville, Tennessee, Cleveland, Ohio, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and Richmond, Virginia with her presence and before she joined her children and grandchildren in Columbus, Ohio. 

Norma’s journey through this life was especially blessed by her loving husband, William Evan Price, who shared with her many joys and then cared for her with unfailing devotion during her final illness and now misses her terribly.  Norma is the beloved Mother of Dr. Rebecca P. Hunton (Richard) and William Evan Price, II, Esq. (Margaret).  Norma was a delightful Mother-in-Law who was dearly loved by Richard, Margaret and their families including Margaret’s sister Natalia who helped nurse Norma through her final illness.  Grandma Norma showered love and affection on her wonderful grandchildren Thomas Price Hunton, James Richard Hunton, Alexandra Catalina Price, William Evan Price, III, and her namesake Jessica Faye Price.  Norma also enjoyed a long and joyous relationship with her siblings as well as their many children and grandchildren including her surviving sisters and their now departed husbands Mae Taylor (Vernon), Wanda Baker (Jay), Rosemary Peters (Jim) and Peggy Stevens (Joe). 

She is also survived by her three brothers and their wives who became like sisters, James and Shirley Arney, William and Cindy Arney and David and Anita Arney.  All of her family and friends will miss her wisdom, grace, quick wit and the joy she brought to everyone around her. Avanell Craig Pyle, 88, of Arnold Towers, Danville, died Wednesday, November 27, 2002, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born December 30, 1913 in Muhlenberg county, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Howard and Agnes Irene Hendricks Craig. She was the widow of James Ivan Pyle.

She was a retired licensed beautician having worked for Embry?s Hair Salon in Lexington and for many years owned Avanells Antiques in Lincoln and Boyle counties.

She was a member of First Christian Church, Eastern Star and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a horsewoman and raised standard bred horses with her husband and continued after his death at Violet Slope Farm, Hustonville.

She was a graduate of Graham High School and attended Western Kentucky  University.

Survivors include: one daughter, Haldis E. Pyle, Ypsilanti, MI; two sons, James Lee Pyle, Harrodsburg, and Charles Howard Pyle, Stanford; two; sisters, Daphne Baker, Dayton, OH, and Imogene Tinkle, Greenville; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Roy Jackson Rice, 90, of 446 West Office Street, died Monday, December 14, 1998 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Born May 28, 1908 in Moreland, he was the son of the late Jackson and Julia Clem Rice. He was a retired store manager for Farmers Supply after 43 years, a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church, a lifetime member of the Knights Pythians Lodge, and was the widower of Louise Slaughter Rice.

Survivors include: his son, William Ronald (Ronnie) Rice, Harrodsburg; one brother, William Samuel Rice, Middletown; nine half brothers, one half sister, and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Donald Rice.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 17, at 2:00 p.m. at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Dr. David Hartman and Rev. Gene Eason officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Eric Rice, Jack Morris, Forrest Bradshaw, Drew Rice, Bobby Sheperson, James Crawford, Jr., Ricky Rice, Tommy Singleton, Zenah Teater and Dan Chilton.

Mollie Richter, 74, of 649 Valley Drive, died Thursday, January 4, 2001 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital Extended Care.

Born January 30, 1926 in Halls Gap, she was the daughter of the late Pless and Florence Adams Holloway. She was the widow of Raymond Richter.

She was the former co-owner of Ray's Greenhouse in Harrodsburg and had worked at the Dollar Store. She was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Pioneer Baptist Church.

Survivors include: her daughter, Shirley Sampson, Harrodsburg; a sister-in-law, Pauline Holloway, South Lebanon, OH; one grandson, Jerry Sampson. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Leslie Holloway and Norman Holloway.

Funeral services were held Sunday, January 7, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Dr. David Hartman officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill

Nora Blankenship Schaeffer of Silverdale was born Nov. 25th, 1928, to Roscoe and Ethel Blankenship in Crab Orchard, Kentucky.

She and Allen Schaeffer were married for 40 years. They raised 5 children in the Port Angeles/Sequim area.

She was very active in her children's schools, serving as P.T.A. President. She worked at Harrington's Restaurant in Port Angeles as a baker and at ModeO'day clothing store. Her hobbies were baking, sewing, arts and crafts and grandchildren.

She is survived by sisters, Margaret Dalton of Ohio and Nellie Hall of Kentucky; brothers, Virgil Blankenship of Tenn. and Charles Blankenship of Ohio; children, Linda (Ron) Pease of Allyn, Jean Pease of Port Hadlock, Nita Waite of Kentucky, Betti Kennedy of Sequim and Allen Schaeffer Jr. of Spokane; grandchildren Ron (Marlene) Pease, Trisha Pease, Carol (Joe]) Shaw, Vicki (Dale) Butts, Matthew (Tracey) Priest, Kristina, Brook Priest, Annie, Jason, Jess Kennedy, Wendy and Terry Schaeffer; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Schaeffer; brother, Tom Blankenship; sisters, Mary Dowell and Sue Todd; and her parents.

There will be a celebration of Nora's life at Golden Tides in Silverdale at 1 p.m. Sept. 8.

Paul R. Shanley, 84, of Lancaster Street in Stanford, died Thursday, June 7, 2001 at his residence.

Born February 5, 1917 in Cincinnati, OH.  He was the son of the late Thomas and Mary Ennis Shanley.

He was a government worker for the Hamilton County courthouse in Cincinnati, OH and a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Danville.

He was a member of the American Legion Post #345 John Logan, a veteran of World War II and a Kentucky Colonel.

Survivors include: his wife, Dorothy Coleman Shanley, Stanford; one daughter, Barbara Gordon Shewmaker, Harrodsburg; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Danville, Monday, June 11, with Rev. Paul Prabell officiating. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Pallbearers were John Hester, Tom Powers, Buck Cooper, Earl Lee Taylor, Alan Burnside and John Smith.

Memorials are suggested to Heritage Hospice or Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Danville.

Born Nov. 30, 1948, in Garrard County to the late Earl Mercus and Dorothy (Gill) Abee, she was a member of Watts Chapel Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Tea Shelton of Crab Orchard; two sons, Ricky (Lisa) Shelton of Broughtontown and Nicky Shelton of Crab Orchard; a granddaughter, Raven Shelton of Crab Orchard; a brother, David Abee of Lancaster; and three sisters, Linda Abee of Broughtontown, Joyce (Brian) Carrier of Lancaster and Juanita (Farley) Talley of Lancaster.

Joetta was preceded in death by two brothers, James Earl and Steven Abee.

CRAB ORCHARD - Harmon Smith, 89, of Lancaster died Friday at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.

Born May 23, 1919, in Preachersville, he was the son of the late George and Fannie Mae Bustle Smith and husband of the late Vedena Mae Aldridge Smith. Harmon was a member of Preachersville United Methodist Church and Garrard County Disabled American Veterans. He was a veteran of the Army.

Survivors Include two daughters, Mildred Dean Harness of Nicholasville and Regina (Roger) Baker of Huntsville, Ala.; a son, Richard H. (Patricia) Smith of Union; a sister, Jewell Anderson of Cincinnati; seven grandchildren, Michael Harness, Kriste Blumetti, Kathy Tussey, Jennifer Shannon Dunn, Kimberly Dawn Johnson, Jennie Michelle Baker and Jessica Lynn Baker; and seven great-grandchildren, Dustin and Amanda Harness, Parker and Pierce Tussey, Canaan Dunn, Madison Johnnson and Sarai Dunn.

AMHERST TOWNSHIP -- David M. Spoonamore, 85, of Amherst Township and formerly of Elyria, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2008, at Lorain County Golden Acres Nursing Home, following an extended illness.

He was born in Crab Orchard, Ky., and resided in Elyria for several years before moving to Golden Acres last year.

Mr. Spoonamore was employed at the Elyria Foundry for more than 30 years as a molder. He was a member of the AFL-CIO union.

He was a caregiver to his wife who died in 1994, and during World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre. For his service, he was awarded a purple heart. Throughout his life he enjoyed fishing and boating.

Surviving is a daughter,Davilyne Wuljahorodsky of Leeds, England; three grandchildren David Wolfe of Norwalk, Aaron Wolfe of Norwalk and Karaline Morrison of New Orleans; three great-grandchildren Derrick and McKenzie Wolfe and Ava Wolfe; a sister, Anna Marie King of Vermilion; and two brothers James C. Spoonamore of Elyria and Will Thomas Spoonamore of Kentucky . He was preceded in death by his wife 47 years, Elizabeth Carleen; his parents, Thomas L. and Eunice D. Adams Spoonamore; and three sisters Myrtle Bowens, Ruth Brown and Elizabeth Spears.

There will be a private family interment in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman.

Deloris Marcelene Stevens, 81, of Eubank, died Thursday, Jan. 1 at University of Kentucky Medical Center.

A native of Lincoln County, she was born Sept. 8, 1927, to the late Lonnie and Gertrude Taylor Adington. She was retired from General Electric and the widow of Lester Stevens.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Darrell Stevens; four brothers, Clinton, Bobby, Leo and Darwin "Doc" Adington; and a sister, Marlene Haggard.

CRAB ORCHARD - Earl D. Wilson Jr., 43, of Stanford passed away Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.

He was the husband of Donna Fields Wilson, whom he married on Feb. 28, 1981.

Born Jan. 11, 1965, in Mount Vernon, Ky., he was the son of Earl Wilson Sr. of Crab Orchard and the late Shirley Gross Wilson. He was an employee of Majors Floor Covering.

Other survivors Include three sons, Jerome Wilson, Matthew Wilson and Dustin Wilson, all of Stanford; three brothers, Bobby (Kasey) Wilson of Danville, Anthony (Alicia) Wilson of Lancaster and John (Barbara) Wilson of Stanford; a sister, Angie (Dale) of Brodhead; and two grandchildren, Devon and Bailey. A host of nieces and nephews also survive.

Services were Monday at McKnight Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Bro. Kaywood Morris, Bro. Dan Gutenson and Bro. John Irwin. Burial was in the Wilson Family Cemetery.
