PERRYVILLE - Minnie Frances Martin Aleshire, 74, of Danville died Sunday in Harrodsburg. She was the widow of Ben Aleshire.

Born March 17, 1934, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Thurman and Mattie Browning Martin. She was retired from the restaurant business, having worked for the former Foster's Restaurant in Perryville and Bottom's family restaurant in Danville. She had attended Perryville Church of God and visited Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Frances loved working with crafts, making many of the gifts she shared with her family and friends. Cooking was a major part of Frances's life, she was especially known for her delicious desserts. Her family fondly remembers her big heart.

Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie (Raymond) Lowry of Danville and Sandi Skinger of New York; seven grandchildren, Robbie Lowry, Debbie (Scott) Boyd and Brandi, Amanda, Laura, Samantha and Austin Skinger; three great-grandchildren, Isabelle and Cloe Lowry and Nicole Boyd; and her best friend, Bea Bottoms.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wilder Funeral Home by the Rev. Robert Shokley, with burial in Hustonville Cemetery.

WAYNESBURG - Annette Bell, 42, of Phillippe Road died Saturday.

Born Aug. 28, 1966, in Casey County, she was a daughter of Dallas and Jean Durham Hatter, both of Waynesburg. She was an LPN for 13 years at Fort Logan Hospital and a member of Parlor Grove Baptist Church.

Other survivors include a brother, Danny Hatter, a niece, Kelly Hatter, and a nephew, Clinton Hatter, all of Danville.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home. Burial will be in Dunham Cemetery.

Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

CRAB ORCHARD - Barbara Gene Blanton, 63, of Crab Orchard died Monday, Nov. 10, at her home.

Born March 26, 1945, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Marie Pearl Hacker Hiatt. She was the wife of Russell Neal Blanton, who she married on Dec. 10, 1963. She was a member of Crab Orchard Church of God.

Survivors include her husband, Russell Neal Blanton of Crab Orchard; seven daughters, Paula Sue (Charlie) Chandler, Regina Blanton, Twila Dawn Blanton, Bobbie Lynn Blanton, Lisa Marie (Gary) Noland, Shanda Ann (Michael) Hawkins and Rachel Lynn Blanton; four sons, Jimmy Neal (Linda) Blanton, Gary Blanton, Russell Neal (Amy) Blanton Jr. and Christopher Paul Blanton; three brothers, Bobby Gilbert, George Hiatt and David Hiatt Jr.; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at McKnight Funeral Home by Bro. Donald King and Bro. Lonnie Goodin. Burial will be in Wilmot Cemetery.

MORELAND - Sally Diamond Brammer, 72, of Moreland died Wednesday.

Born Dec. 22, 1936, in Ironton, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Blanche Perdue Diamond. She worked for BellSouth as a telephone operator and was a homemaker. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed reading. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Brammer.

Survivors include a son, Larry Brammer of Danville; a daughter, Venita (Ronnie) Warner of Hustonville; and two grandchildren, Kassi and Wes-Lee Cooper.

Born July 9, 1949, in Lincoln County, Ky., he was the son of the late Ernest E. Sr. and Grecian Saylor Brock. He was the husband of Janie Griffin Brock, whom he married Sept. 24, 1971.

Other survivors include sons, Bill and Anthony Brock; sisters, Geraldine Peele, Phyllis Jean (Dave) Nickell and Sheila (Harry) Helton; aunts, Pearl Crank and Viola Noakes; and uncles, Eli and Bill Saylor and C.W. Brock.

Ramona Gail Pemberton Burdette, 49, of Lancaster, died Sunday, Nov. 30 in Danville.

A native of Danville, she was born Aug. 16, 1959 to Marilyn (Howard) Ballard of Lancaster and Kenneth (Lucy) Pemberton of Junction City. She was a certified nurses aid and a member of the Pentecostal faith.

Survivors include two sons, Jeff Pemberton and Jacob Burchett; three brothers, Randy and Dwight Pemberton and Phillip Myron; three sisters, Teresa Kay Stinnett, Christy Gail Asher, and Renae Pemberton.

MORELAND - Phillip David Coffman, 56, of Moreland died Saturday.

Born March 19, 1952, in Danville, he was the son of the late James and Ruby Crowe Curtis. He worked as a supervisor at K.B. Toys and was a member of Green River Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice Coffman; two sons, Phillip (Lisa) Coffman of Danville and Jody (Nikki) Smithers of Liberty; a daughter, Melissa (Chris) Brown of Liberty; four sisters, Pam (Dennis) Ledford of Danville, Vivan McGirr and Mary Eva Denson, both of Moreland, and Vicky Worthington of Danville; eight grandchildren, Blake, Brooke and Braydon Coffman, Mya Brown, Dakota, McKenzie and Briley Smithers, and an unborn grandchild.

CRAB ORCHARD - Juanita Hendrix Day, 81, of Stanford died Tuesday at University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington.

She was the wife of the late Willie Day, who preceded her in death on Aug. 12, 2006.

Born Sept. 13, 1927, in Leslie County, she was the daughter of the late Dan F. and Joanna Caudill Hendrix. She was a former store clerk for Johns Store and a member of Dix River Church of Christ.

Survivors include sons, Harold (Norma Jean) Gross of Stanford, Michael (Jane) Day of Tazwell, Tenn., Stanley M. (Anna) Day of Stanford and Timothy Allen (Lynne) Day of Lancaster; a daughter, Doris Jean (Russell) Brummett of Stanford; three brothers, George, Bill and Larry Hendrix, all of Harrodsburg; 17 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Dorothy Hendrix; two brothers, Dan Hendrix Jr. and Lawrence Kelly "L.K." Hendrix; and one grandson, Gavin Tinnel; and a great-grandson, Isaac Dennis Penix.

STANFORD - Foster "Doc" Deatherage, 85, died Friday in Lexington.

Born June 12, 1923, in Stanford, he was the son of the late Clarence Milton and Leala Mae Adams Deatherage. Doc was a medic in World War II and a water line manager in Dayton, Ohio.

Survivors include three brothers, James, Clarence and Hayes, all of Stanford; two sisters, Louise Kidd of Stanford and Patty Cromer of Brodhead; and other relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Eugene and Lester, and an infant sister, Elma Mae.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fox Funeral Home with Bro. Harold Harness. Burial will be at Camp Nelson National Cemetery with military honors.

Charles Denney, 70, of Crab Orchard, died Tuesday, December 9, at the Golden Living Center in Stanford.

A native of Stanford, he was born Nov. 29, 1938, to the late Carl and Zola Marie Todd. He worked for Square D and Mid State Steel as a welder and was a member of the New Hope First Church of God.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Carlos Denney; half brother, James Wren; half sister, Mildred Jones; step mother, Lena Denney; and step father, Lovell Wren.

Survivors include a son, Mark (Connie) Denney, Keith (Melanie) Denney and Dawayne (Kelly) Denney, all of Brodhead; daughters, Alma Denney, Mary (Larry) Norton, Sandra (Tim) Tyler and Tammy Martin (companion, Gary Blanton) all of Brodhead, and Roxanna (Billy) DeBorde of Somerset; brothers, Robert Denney of Brodhead, Carl Denney, Jr. of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Danny Denney of Stanford; sisters, Fran Napier of Danville, Pauline Denney and Juanita Harrison, both of Lancaster, and Loretta Gilliam of Tazwell, Tenn.; half brother, Ray Wren of Crab Orchard; 17 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Dec. 12 at McKnight Funeral Home in Crab Orchard with Bros. Randall Adams and Charles Howard officiating. Burial was in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.

DOZIER, Dr. George S., Jr.

April 01, 1920 – December 24, 2008

STANFORD - World War II Naval aviator and medical physician George S. Dozier Jr. died today, Dec. 24, 2008, at Thomson-Hood Veterans Center.

The Stanford native was one of the first physicians to practice on Lexington's southside. He later created the region's first in-house Hospice Care Unit while at the Veteran's Hospital for many years. He was an avid astronomer and traveled the world to experience celestial events.

He was a member of the Civil War Roundtable, Sons of the American Revolution, American College of Physicians, Fayette County Medical Society, Navy Memorial, Aviation Museum of Kentucky, Bluegrass Astronomical Society and other groups.

Survivors include his wife, Suzanne; sons James and Steve; and five granddaughters, Lisa, Jamie, Katie, Michelle and Lee.

Modest graveside services will be held noon Friday, Dec. 26, 2008, at Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford, Ky.

Contributions may be made to the Lincoln County Educational Fund, Hospice of the Bluegrass or the Aviation Museum of Kentucky.

MORELAND - Elizabeth Hall Edrington, 104, a longtime resident of Hustonville, recently residing in Brentwood, Tenn., died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008.

Born April 25, 1904, she was the daughter of the late Nathan and Sarah Ann Childress Hall and loving wife of the late W.A. Edrington.

She taught in a one-room school house in Kentucky, farmed with her late husband in Casey County and was a lifetime member of the Hustonville Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband and 12 brothers and sisters. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home with Bro. Jonathan Grizzell with burial in Hustonville Cemetery.

A native of Richmond, Ind., he was born July 14, 1966 to Bernice Gordon (Willie) Morefield of Waynesburg and the late Charles E. Faddis. He was disabled and a member of First Southern Missionary Baptist Church in Indiana.

STANFORD - Margaret B. Faulkner, 96, of Stanford died Friday at Golden Living Center.

Born Oct. 27, 1912, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Preston and Hattie Fowler Beck. She was a homemaker and a member of New Beginnings United Methodist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Gene (Selena) Faulkner of Atlanta, and David (Rita) Faulkner and Roy (Cathy) Faulkner, both of Stanford; three daughters, Wanda (Jack) Withrow, Becky (Johnny) Cooper and Ruth (Jim) Faulkner, all of Stanford; a special niece, Betty Dudderar Sims; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Margaret was preceded in death by two husbands, Wilson Coyler and Vernon Faulkner.

Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today at New Beginnings Methodist Church. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the church with Rev. Jeremy James. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

James "Jim" Gilbert, a longtime resident of Kearney, Neb., and widower of Elizabeth "Libby" Martin Gilbert, died peacefully at home on Oct. 4, 2008.

Survivors include his mother-in-law, Mae Dyehouse Martin of Crab Orchard; a sister-in-law, Pat Martin Godby of Harrodsburg; and brothers-in-law, Randy Martin of Berea and Don Martin of Lancaster.

A private memorial service was held Sunday at Crab Orchard Cemetery.

James "Jim" N. Gilbert 60, longtime Kearney resident, died peacefully at home on Saturday (10/4/08) after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Jim was born October 8, 1947 in Coatesville, Pa. to Byron and Doris (Cohen) Gilbert. He grew up in Coatesville. On June 26, 1971 he married Elizabeth "Libby" Martin. He was a professor and former Chair of the Department of Criminal Justice at the University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK). He received his B.S. degree in Criminology from California State University at Long Beach, Calif., his M.S. degree in Criminal Justice Education from Eastern Kentucky University and his Ph.D. in Adult Education concentrating in Criminal Justice from the University of Southern Mississippi. Author of the college textbook, Criminal Investigation, Jim was also a 1996 winner of a Pratt-Heins grant awarded by UNK for outstanding scholarship and research. This award is the most prestigious award a faculty member can receive from UNK.

Jim's teaching career spanned 36 years, of which the last 20 years were at UNK. Prior to that, Jim taught Criminal Justice for four years at Radford University, Radford, Va., four years at Chadron State College, Chadron, Neb., and eight years at Parkland College, Champaign, Ill. Before joining the academic world, Jim was in law enforcement, which included positions as a security officer for Wackenhut Security Corporation in Los Angeles, police cadet for the Santa Monica Police Department in Calif., police officer and investigator for the Berkeley Police Department in Calif. and as a Special Agent Investigator for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement in Jacksonville, Fla.

Jim's hobbies and passions included an encyclopedic knowledge of the American Civil War, writing numerous fiction and non-fiction articles and short stories, maintaining his skill as an accomplished artist of sketches and portraits, and continuing to pursue his love for attending and discussing movies and theater.

Jim is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Nathanael Hunter, Kearney; grandson, Patrick Hunter, Kearney; sister, Susan Gilbert, Las Vegas, Nev.; and brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Irene Gilbert, Foster City, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Bennett; and his wife of 32 years, Elizabeth "Libby" in 2003.

A memorial service will be held Saturday (10/11/08) at 11 a.m. at the Kearney First United Methodist Church, followed by a reception at the church. Rev. Rebecca Hjelle will officiate. Private interment in the Kearney Cemetery will be prior to services. There will be no visitation. Jim's wishes were that in lieu of flowers, donation be made to the American Cancer Society. STANFORD - Russell W. Godbey Sr., 85, of Crab Orchard died Monday at his home.

Born Sept. 19, 1923, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Elbert and Dolly Atkins Godbey. He was a carpenter and employed by Lincoln Lumber Co. for 32 years. Russell was a member of Crab Orchard Baptist Church and Dix River Coon Club.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Ledford Godbey; a son, Russell W. Godbey Jr. (Janetta) of Lancaster; three daughters, Pauline Watts (David) and Velma Cordier (Harold), both of Stanford, and Carloyn Reed (Larry) of Crab Orchard; a brother, Hoover Godbey of Stanford; three sisters, Silverene Adams of Crab Orchard, Flonnie Phillips of Lancaster and Marcella Floyd of Ladson, S.C.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Mack Godbey; and two sisters, Alene Hale and Sarah Godbey.

Otis M. Hasty, Jr. 59, of Indianapolis, Ind., died Wednesday, Dec. 17, at his home.

A native of Stanford, he was born Jan. 26, 1949, to the late Otis and Nora Hasty. He was a 1967 graduate of Tech High School, attended Purdue University, was a journeyman for 25 years, employed as a sheet metal worker for Master Air and Apex Industries and was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local #20.

Survivors include his wife, Vickie Hasty; daughters, Heather (Charles) Curts and Regina Smithers; and grandsons, Joshua Phares and Hunter Curts.

Effie Crawford Bailey Hazelbaker, 85, widow of James William Hazelbaker, died Sunday at her home.

Born April 12, 1923, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late George F. and Susie Maupin Crawford. She was a retired nurse from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Hospital and a member of Indian Hills Christian Church, where she was active in the THEOS group and a member of Eastern Star.

STANFORD - Ila Victoria Johnson, 79, of Powell Street died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, at Golden Living Center.

Born Sunday, May 19, 1929, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Victor Andrew and Mary Elizabeth Buchanan Rice. She was a homemaker and loved cooking, crocheting, working with her flowers and dearly loved doing housework. She will always be remembered as being a very intelligent woman and was the Valedictorian of her high school class. Ila was Church of Christ by faith.

Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Coleman (Garland) of Stanford and Brenda Swift (Norman) of Greenwood, Ind.; a son, Stephen Lloyd Johnson (Melissa) of Lincoln County; a brother, Bill Rice of Stanford; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Born May 17, 1943, in Boyle County, she was the daughter of the late William Barkley and Myrtle Smith Leathers. She was a homemaker and a member of Moreland First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years, David Lawson, a son, David (Gwen) Lawson Jr., and a daughter, Gina (Don) Meade, all of Moreland; four grandchildren, David (Rebecca) Meade, Mary (Rob) Sarver, Kassie (Kris) Branham and Chad Lawson; a great-grandson, Caleb Meade; and mother-in-law, Faye Lawson.

Born March 12, 1954, in Douglas, Ariz., she was the daughter of the late Richard E. Folger and Vera Thompson Folger Wakefield.

Vera worked as a nurse at Charleston Health Care Center, where she was passionate about caring for the elderly. She attended SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by a brother, John N. Folger.

Survivors include her husband, Joe Lee of Waynesburg; two daughters, Vanessa Sowders of Stanford and Davonna (J.D.) Bowling of Richmond; a son, Joey Lee of Waynesburg; two sisters, Debbie McLeskey of Owingsville and Dottie Brady of Victoria, B.C., Canada; a brother, Charles K. INDIANAPOLIS - Teddie Douglas Luster, 64, died Wednesday at his Indianapolis residence.

Born June 16, 1944, in Lincoln County, he was the son of Coleman D. and Mary Florin (Smith) Luster.

Survivors include Beth E. Ellinger, whom he married Nov. 16, 1968; two sons, Jeff C. (Kelly) and Kevin D. Luster; a daughter, Michelle L. (Greg) Massengale; a brother, Frank Luster; four sisters, Martha Brown, Juanita I. Marr, Phyllis Frederick and Sharon B. Jones; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, George M. and C.D. Luster; and a sister, Faustine A. Montgomery.

Teddie worked for 32 years at General Motors as a pressman-rack repair before retiring in 2005. He was a member of United Auto Workers Local No. 23.

STANFORD - Curtis Lee Lynn Jr., 68, of Stanford died Thursday at his home.

Born Sept. 12, 1940, in Carroll County to the late Curtis Lee Lynn Sr. and Anna Irene Royston Lynn, he was employed at Corning Glass and Phillips Lighting for 37 years.

Curtis was a member of Grace Fellowship Church and president of Local Union 1009 for 20 years. He established the little league program at the Hustonville school, coached little league baseball and basketball from 1968-1992, and enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Sears Lynn; four sons, Danny (Tammy) Murphy of Stanford, Kevin Lynn of Nashville, Tenn., Jeff (Bobbie) Lynn of Versailles and Curtis (Megan) Lynn III of Stanford; two daughters, Tammie (Becky) Lynn of Nashville and Pam (Barry) Allen of Stanford; 10 grandchildren, Jason Murphy, Kim Lynn, Shelby Lynn, Matt Cooper, Cera Eldridge, Anthony Lynn, Matt Eldridge, Trinity Lynn, Madeline Lynn and Emerson Lynn; and two nieces, Carroll Ann (Billy) Sanders and Brenda Lee (Donnie) Bullington.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Zach Lynn, and a sister, Mary Ann Jones.

WAYNESBURG - Edward Harold McKinney, 81, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, at his residence.

Born Wednesday, Feb., 2, 1927, in Eubank, Ky., Harold was the son of the late Benjamin and Dora Cress McKinney. He was a hard worker, retired from General Motors and as a bus driver for LexTran. He also was a farmer, loving father and devoted husband. He was a trustee, song leader, finance committee member and Sunday School teacher at New Life Church of God in Waynesburg.

Harold wed Pauline Parsons on Sunday, Oct. 9, 1949, and they enjoyed 59 years of marriage together.

Harold leaves behind his wife; two sons, Jim Spears and his wife Peggy of Noblesville, Ind., and John McKinney and his wife Glenda of Owensville, Ind.; two daughters, Marchetta Goff of Somerset and Tonya Murphy and her husband Jeff of Waynesburg; two sisters, Bobbie Jean Combs and Eutheda Dietrick, both of Eubank; seven grandchildren, Amanda Camp, Reyna Schaefer, Benjamin McKinney, Tyler Murphy, Jarrett Murphy, Matthew Goff and Adam Goff; and three great-grandchildren, Jared Camp, Justin Camp and Shelby Schaefer.

Harold was preceded in death by two brothers, Edison and Royal McKinney.

An Appreciation of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, at New Life Church of God in Waynesburg with Bros. Jack Carter and William Pelfrey officiating. Burial will be in Double Springs Cemetery.

STANFORD — Rexie Baugh Milbern, 93, of Lexington died Sunday at her home.

Born Aug. 7, 1915, in Lincoln County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Ransom and Edna Denham Reed Baugh. She was a homemaker and a member of McKinney Christian Church, where she taught Sunday School for more than 50 years and was an active member of the Lida Circle. She was a member of McKinney class of 1934 and a former 4-H instructor. She was a member of McKinney Eastern Star and an honorary board member of McKinney Rescue Squad. She also was a member of McKinney Homemakers Club for more than 50 years.

Survivors included her three children, Doris Tinsley (Denver) of Fairfield, Ohio, Daniel Milbern (Norma) and Dotty Norris (Vernon), both of Lexington; four grandchildren, Jacqueline Browning (David), Joel Milbern (Frazeann), V.T. Norris III (Dee) and Joda Norris (Annhall); and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Joda Milbern; and 11 brothers and sisters.

Julia Ann Peterson, 95, of Kings Mountain, died Wednesday, Oct. 29 at Fort Logan Hospital.

A native of Casey County, she was born Sunday, Feb. 23, 1913 to the late Elmer E. and Emily Wall Peterson. She was a 1932 graduate of Kings Mountain High School, taught at Duncan School and Kings Mountain Memorial for one year each, worked at the library when it was on the top floor of the Lincoln County Courthouse and at the Lincoln ASCS Office for 40 years, was a charter member of Lincoln County Business Professional Women’s Organization, a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and of Kings Mountain Christian Church where she taught Sunday school for over 60 years, and was an active and consulting member of the Lincoln County Library Board. She was best known for over 60 years of weekly articles of the Kings Mountain News in The Interior Journal and to her family and friends for her “Juliaisms” of humor and wit.

Survivors include a sister, Violet Bell of Kings Mountain; a great, great nephew, Jim (Jenny) Long of Columbia, Ohio; and a great, great niece, Patricia Long of Columbia, Ohio.

Funeral services were Nov. 1 at Kings Mountain Christian Church with Rev. David Gambrel and Bro. Billy Gooch officiating. Burial will be in Double Springs Cemetery.

Born June 13, 1932, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Albert and Susie Dye Releford. He was a custodian for the Lincoln County School Board for 28 years, working at Stanford and McKinney elementary schools. He was a farmer and had worked at Jackson Chair Co. Junior was a member of McKinney Baptist Church, an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed listening to Roy Acuff.

Survivors include his wife, Mabel Polston Releford; a son, Terry Releford; two daughters, Tena Grizzell (Robert) and Rhonda Silverthorn (Neil), all of Stanford; a brother, Dallas Releford of Cincinnati, Ohio; two sisters, Carol Walls and Brenda Releford, both of Danville; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

STANFORD - Russell Richie Jr., 77, of Stanford, Ky., died Saturday, Nov. 22, following surgery at University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington, Ky.

Born Oct. 11, 1931, in Cynthiana, Ky., he was the son of the late Russell Richie Sr. and Daisy Peddicord Richie. He was a 1950 graduate of Cynthiana High School and a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a 1960 graduate of University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy and owner of Richie Drugs Inc. He was a former Stanford Chamber of Commerce president, a Kentucky Colonel and Soil Conservation director.

Mr. Richie was inducted into the Harrison County Football Alumni Association Hall of Fame in August 2007, as a member of the 1949 Cynthiana Bulldogs.

Survivors include a son, David Lane (Tammy) Richie of Waynesburg; a sister Georgia Lee Long; three brothers, Gene Ross (Marilyn) Richie and Stephen Todd (Cathy) Richie, both of Cynthiana, and Ronald Keith (Terumi) Richie of Virginia Beach, Va.; two nieces, Janet and Megan; and three nephews, Ronnie, Josh and Nicholas; several great-nieces and nephews, and several cousins. He was preceded in death by a son, Russell "Rusty" Richie, and a brother, David Allen Richie, who died in infancy.

Jerry Rutherford, Jr., 21, of Crawfords Lane, Stanford, died Sunday, Nov. 2 at the Fort Logan Hospital.

A native of Pulaski County, he was born Sept. 25, 1987 to Jerry Rutherford, Sr., and Lesa Rutherford Kirby. He was a construction worker and a member of Redemption Road Church.

Other survivors include his fiance’, Jessica Matherly; one son, Sean Rutherford of Stanford; and one sister, Rebecca Durham of Stanford.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today (Nov. 6) at Spurlin Funeral Home in Lancaster with Pastor Gary Yocom officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

STANFORD - Donald H. Smith Sr., 75, of Waynesburg died Tuesday at home.

Born Dec. 30, 1932, in Fleming County, he was a son of the late William Ocal Smith and the late Gladys Harris Smith. He was self-employed and a member of Redemption Road Church. He was a Korean War veteran and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars in Florida. He was the widower of Geneva Smith.

Survivors include a son, Donald H. Smith Jr. of Waynesburg; a daughter, Rebecca Smith Bruner of Stuart, Fla.; two sisters, Doris Cook and Deloris Stuttle, both of Swayzee, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Barbour; a sister, Dixie Thurman; and two brothers, Buford and Raymond Smith.

Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Olive Baptist Church by the Rev. Gary Yocum. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

CRAB ORCHARD - Earl Kilby Smith, 82, of Lancaster passed away Sunday, Nov. 9, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

Born April 13, 1926, in Lincoln County, Ky., he was the son of the late George and Fannie Mae Bustle Smith. Earl was a member of Preachersville United Methodist Church and a former blacktop plant manager for Danville Construction Co. He also was a veteran of the United States Army.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Starnes Smith, and his second wife, Betty Fredrick Sutton Smith; his brothers, J.H., Robert, James, Jesse and Roy Smith; and a sister, Sallie Lucille Price.

Survivors include a brother, Harmon Smith of Lancaster; a sister, Jewell Anderson of Cincinnati; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at McKnight Funeral Home by Bro. Jamie Hamilton. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery with military rites by Caswell Saufley Post 18 of the American Legion, Stanford.

STANFORD - Clinton R. Stringer, 70, of Stanford died Thursday at his home.

Born June 6, 1938, in Stanford, Stringer was the son of the late Willis Green Stringer Jr. and Mini Payton Hasty Stringer. He was an electrician; a member of Calvary Hill Baptist Church; a former member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Carlisle, Ohio, for 38 years; a past president of the Lions Club in Franklin, Ohio; a Kentucky colonel; and an avid supporter of the Lincoln County Patriots.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Shirley Adams Stringer; three children, Kevin W. (Kris) Stringer of Charlotte, N.C.; Lisa (Jim) Lemaster of Fairborn, Ohio; and Clinton Stringer Jr. of Greensboro, N.C.; two brothers, Bobby Stringer and Jesse Griffin, both of Danville; two sisters, Alice Barnhart of Somerset and Eva Compton of 29 Palms, Calif.; three grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Billy, Jim, Teddy, John Thomas and Willis Green Stringer Jr.

Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Monday at Spurlin Funeral Home. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Roger Williams and Johnny Adamson. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Raymond C. Tucker, 87, died on Nov. 11, 2008, in Baton Rouge, La.

He was the son of Robert L. Tucker and Mabel Smith Tucker of Stanford, a captain in the U.S. Army during WWII and worked for Greyhound for 45 years.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Fleming Tucker of Baton Rouge, La.; son, Robert L. Tucker of Arlington, Va.; daughter, Linda Tucker Gamble of Gonzales, La.; and grandchildren, Sarah Beth Tucker Cain, Thomas Gamble and Lainey Beth Gamble.

Born Oct. 9, 1919, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Less and Evelyn Baugh Reed. She was the widow of Charlie E. Young.

Survivors include her daughter, Doris Ann Scilley of Lexington; a son, Charles G. Young of Nicholasville; two sisters, Gladys Carrier of Indianapolis and Annie Barker of Danville; a brother, Harold Reed of Mississippi; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Highland Methodist Church.

Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be at Highland Methodist Chruch Cemetery .
