CRAB ORCHARD - George Thomas "Bud" Adams, 93, of Crab Orchard passed away on Friday, March 28, 2008, at the Rockcastle County Hospital.

Mr. Adams was born on May 21, 1914, to the late Charlie and Carrie (Moore) Adams in Lincoln County, Kentucky. He was a Army veteran having served in World War II.

He is survived by three daughters, Georgia Gilbert of Hendersonville, North Carolina, Connie French of Crab Orchard, and Clydia Akins of Lawrenceburg; a son, Phillip "Buddy" Adams of Crab Orchard; a sister, Betty Fields of Crab Orchard; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Kenny Adams and George Arthur Adams; his parents Charlie and Carrie Adams; four sisters, Josephine Kendall, Mary Brown, Mattie Magee and Alberta Noeth; and three brothers, Peck, Joe and Carlton Adams.

Pallbearers will be Ricky French, Anthony Carpenter, Shayne Adams, David Osborne, John Holcomb, Chris Carter, Randall Carter, Joe French and Larry Pettit.

Funeral Service are 2 p.m. Monday at McKnight Funeral Home Chapel with daughter Clydia Akins officiating. Burial will be at Crab Orchard Cemetery with military rites by Caswell Saufley American Legion of Stanford Post No. 18.

May 12, 1925 – March 23, 2008

STANFORD - Margaret Goggin Ashley, 82, of Crestview, Fla., formerly of Stanford, died Sunday.

Born May 12, 1925, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Harry G. and Elsie Morris Goggin. She was a math teacher for 27 years, mostly in Crestview, Fla., and a member of the Florida Education Association. Margaret was a member of First United Methodist Church and a graduate of the University of Kentucky math department and Stanford High School in 1942.

Survivors include two sons, Eugene D. (Linda) Ashley of Richmond Hills, Ga., and J. Stephen Ashley of Annaheim Hills, Calif.; a daughter, Denise (Richard) Tuck of Katy, Texas; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Arthur Ashley; and three brothers, Carl, Bob and John Goggin.

Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Buffalo Springs Cemetery with Jeremy James officiating.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at Spurlin Funeral Home.

BECK, Charles E.

STANFORD Charles E. Beck, 86, formerly of Danville, died March 14, 2008.

A native of Lincoln County, he was born April 5, 1921, to Lena (Lindholm) and Charles E. Beck Sr. He was a graduate of McKinney High School.

Just prior to World War II, Mr. Beck was a student at Berea College majoring in agriculture. In 1942, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps, rising from cadet to B-29 captain. By the war's end, he flew bombing missions in the Pacific theater.

At the conclusion of the war, he began his business career in Detroit as a cost analyst at Murray Corp. While attending Wayne State University part time in the evenings, he joined the Ford Motor Co.

In 1949, he married Ruth Evelyn Sintay, who predeceased him in 2000.

In 1959, he was appointed director of the business planning office, where he engineered mergers and acquisitions for Ford. Upon Ford's completion of the Philco acquisition in 1961, he was elected president of Philco-Ford in Philadelphia.

In 1964, he was elected president of American Bosch Arma Corp., later renamed AMBAC Industries, of Garden City, N.Y. The added titles of chairman and chief executive officer were awarded to Mr. Beck in 1965. Mr. Beck continued to serve in these roles until AMBAC's acquisition by United Technologies in 1978. Mr. Beck also was a director of New York-based Anchor Savings Bank in the 1970s.

Mr. Beck received honorary doctors of law degrees from Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Ky., and LaSalle University in Philadelphia. He earned B.S. and M.S. degrees from Wayne State University, Detroit. He was a trustee of Berea College in Kentucky for several years in the 1960s and 1970s.

Mr. Beck principally resided in Florida after 1978. He also was the owner of Roselawn Farm of Danville until 1984. After 20 years in Boca Raton, he and his wife relocated to St. Petersburg, Fla., in 1998.

He is survived by three children, Robert of Denver, Colo., Susan and husband Clinton of St. Petersburg, Fla., and David of Dallas, Texas; and three grandchildren. His sister, Helen Joyner, a lifelong resident of Lincoln and Boyle counties, predeceased him in 2000. Two other siblings died many years earlier.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Buffalo Springs Cemetery, Stanford. Fox Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

CRAB ORCHARD - Plese Brock, 83, of Copper Creek died Tuesday.

Born June 4, 1925, in Harlan County, he was a son of the late Amon and Susie Caldwell Brock. He was a retired coal miner.

Survivors Include his wife, Nora Gross Brock; three sons, Sammy Brock, Plese Brock Jr. and Jackie Ellis; two daughters, Betty Ann Sparrow and Gail Cochran; 17 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Brock was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen Greer.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at McKnight Funeral Home with Bro. Leslie Bently officiating. Burial will be in Crab Orchard Cemetery.

STANFORD-Martha Davis Camenisch, 84, died Saturday at her residence.

Born in Lincoln County to the late Nancy Meeks and Clay P. Davis Sr., Martha leaves behind a husband, five sons, a daughter, a brother, a sister, a sister-in-law, and a host of great-grandchildren and grandchildren.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents as well as a brother, Clay Davis Jr.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1 p.m. tomorrow at Stanford Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Gruenhiem Cemetery.

Visitation will be held tomorrow at the church from 11 a.m. until time of service. Fox Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

WAYNESBURG - Randall Carman, 56, of the Walltown community of Casey County, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2008, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Born on Monday, March 26, 1951, in Boyle County to the late Roy L. and Mary Clemens Carman, he was an employee of Hinkle Contracting for 32 years and a member of Walltown Christian Church.

Randall leaves behind a daughter, LeeAnn Turpin of Middleburg; and two sisters-in-law, Juanita Carman of Kings Mountain and Loraine Carman of Irvine.

Randall was preceded in death by two brothers, Beck and L.T. Carman; and two sisters, Lucie Ellen Falconbury and Wanda Polly Estes.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Brown officiating. Burial will be in Dunham Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. on Monday, March 17, 2008, at the funeral home.

STANFORD - Mildred Sprinkles Carter, 77, of Stanford died Thursday.

Born Aug. 7, 1930, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Arch and Nannie Mastin Sprinkles. She was a telephone operator for GTE and a member of First Baptist Church in Danville.

Survivors include a son, Brad Carter of Stanford; a brother, Archie K. Sprinkles of Santa Clara, Calif.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

HUSTONVILLE - Luvian W. Cochran, 85, of Hustonville died Tuesday, March 18, 2008.

Born Sept. 6, 1922, in Casey County, she was a daughter of the late Theodore and Mattie Baird Whitis. She was a homemaker, school teacher and an active member of Hustonville Baptist Church where she also taught Sunday school for many years.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas B. Cochran of Hustonville, to whom she was married for 61 years; two sons, Joseph L. (Beverly) Cochran of Oak Ridge, Tenn., and William T. (Holly) Cochran of Clermont, Fla.; two sisters, Alma (Jack) Canada of Hustonville and Jean Ann (Tommy) Case of Danville; and two grandchildren, Luke Cochran and Rachel (Jamie) Cochran Stokes, both of Knoxville, Tenn.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Ralph and Tommy Whitis.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Hustonville Baptist Church by Bro. Jonathan Grizzell and Bro. Bill Julian. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Barry, Gary, Tim and Scott Whitis, Bob Canada and Chuck Stallard.

STANFORD - Phillip "Dave" Davis, 52, of Stanford, passed away Friday, Feb. 29, 2008, in Lincoln County.

He was born Wednesday, July 13, 1955, in Lincoln County, to the late Joyce Smith and Phillip H. Davis Sr. Dave was a member of Highland United Methodist Church, American Legion Post No. 18 and former superintendent and youth leader at Locust Grove Baptist Church. Dave served our country in the Air Force, formerly worked at Lincoln County Ready Mix, and was an avid model diorama enthusiast and Alabama football fan.

He will be missed by his wife, Karen Morgan Davis; two daughters, Rebekah Taylor and her husband, Eric, of Stanford, and Lindsey Johanson of Stanford and husband, Nathan, of Danville; three grandchildren, Hannah and Blake Wamsley, and Kristin Taylor; a brother, James Davis; and sister, Hope Davis. Dave was raised by the late Henry and Madeline Volle.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 3, 2008, at Fox Funeral Home with Bros. Don Scilley and John Dean officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Methodist Cemetery with military rites by Caswell Saufley Post No. 18 of the American Legion.

Born Jan. 28, 1947, in Casey County, she was a daughter of the late Mike and Rene Peavley. She was a member of Mount Salem Baptist Church and worked at Brake Parts in Stanford for 14 years.

Survivors include her husband, James Derry; a son, Flix Bayless; three daughters, Tammy Lay, Regina McDowell and Patricia Odom; and four brothers, Noah Lee, Merle Eugene, Paul Daniel and James Garnett Peavley.

William “Billy” C. Elam, 60, of Crab Orchard, died Monday, March 10 at the Veterans Administration in Lexington.

A native of Crab Orchard, he was born April 9, 1947 to the late James Earl and Pearl Mae Kidwell Elam. He was a carpenter, an Army veteran, member of the National Muzzleloaders Association, and loved to fish and hunt.

He was also preceded in death by companion, Billie Jean Jones; a brother, James Earl Elam, Jr.; and a sister, Barbara June Elam.

Survivors include daughters, Edna Faye (Jeff) Cain and Billie Regina Elam (fiance Scott Lakes) both of Sand Gap; two sons, Jason Carl (Stephanie) Elam of McKee and James Paul Elam of Sand Gap; special friend, Brian Roth of Crab Orchard; four brothers, Eugene, Eddie, Mike and Leon Elam; four sisters, Rosella Holcomb, Sue Lamb, Betty Lou Todd, and Lona Embree; and nine grandchildren.

WAYNESBURG — Janet Lynn Sapp Faw, 45, of Waynesburg, daughter of Ralph and Shirley Parrett Sapp of Eubank, died Saturday, March 29, 2008, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

She was born on Sept. 7, 1962, in Covington. She was a homemaker and a member of Pilot Baptist Church. She also enjoyed selling Avon products in the past.

She is survived by her husband, Jacob C. Faw, who she married on Sept. 18, 1992; a brother, Michael Sapp of Science Hill; four sisters, Brenda Lowery of Somerset, Marcha Mayfield of Science Hill, Neta Brock of Nancy and Diane Bennett of Gash City, Ind.; her in-laws, Wiley and Geneva Faw of Waynesburg; and several nieces and nephews.

STANFORD - Maxine Floyd, 84, of Stanford died today.

Born May 22, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Ed and Sallie Estes Adams. She was co-owner and operator of Floyds Cycle in Danville for 44 years. She was a member of Stanford Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald (Cora) Floyd of Stanford, and Randall (Rose) Floyd of Danville; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Floyd.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Spurlin Funeral Home with the Revs: Dale Denton and Johnny Thomson officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Robert “Bobbie” Gooch, 77, died Wednesday, March 5 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

Born in Kings Mountain, he was a son of the late Lloyd and Grace Trimble Gooch. He was self-employed in the home improvement industry, a member of Faith Baptist Church in Versailles, and the widower of Mary Ivy Gooch,

He was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara (Sam) Zena; two grandchildren, Brad (Megan) Story and Angela (Gary) Johnson; two great grandchildren, Hunter and Jaeden Story; two sisters; five brothers; and several nieces and nephews.

STANFORD - Leona "Lee" Harshbarger Grisham, 92, of Norwood, Ohio, died Friday. She was a homemaker and member of Floral Avenue Church of God in Norwood.

Born Sept. 24, 1915, in Milton, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Nell Thomas Guinn Harshbarger.

Survivors include two sons, Dallas Smith of Norwood and Ron Smith of Fairfield, Ohio; a sister, Anna Lee Jones of Waynesburg; two nieces, Lavern Medows and Roena Harshbarger, both of West Virginia; two great-nieces, Linda Rhodes and Barbara Guinn; and six grandchildren.

Born July 17, 1925, in Laurel County to the late Thomas E. Meadows and Mae Harris, he was a retired employee of The National Casket Company.

Survivors include three sons, Clarence Ray Harris of Amelia, Ohio, Roger Dale Harris of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Raymond Harris of Berea; a daughter, Rhonda Gay Harris; and nine grandchildren.

Garry R. Hart, 65, of Stanford, died Saturday, March 8 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

A native of Corbin, he was born May 2, 1942 to the late Paul and Ersie Norman Hart. He worked in construction.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Norman Hart.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Oney Hart; three sons, Garry G. Hart of Middleburg, Tony Hart of Versailles, and Bryan R. Hart of Stanford; one daughter, Sandy Marie Hensley of Moreland; two brothers, Dean Hart of Ohio and Larry Hart of Shepherdsville; three sisters, Faye Slucher of Richmond and Cleta Jones and Linda Bradford both of Corbin; three grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

CRAB ORCHARD - James Ray Hatfield, 73, of Crab Orchard died Sunday.

Born Oct. 3, 1934, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late John Hatfield and Dollie Hawley Hatfield Shepherd. He was the husband of Faye Helen Scheffler Hatfield, whom he married on April 23, 1955.

Ray was a member of Watts Chapel Baptist Church and Brodhead Masonic Lodge of F&AM 566. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of Lincoln County Cattlemans Association and National Rife Association. He was a retired journeyman lineman, formerly working for InterCounty Energy, Davis H. Elliott Co., Phelps Brothers and M&R Power Co.

Other survivors include a daughter, Debra L. Hatfield of Crab Orchard; his aunt, Annie Brent of Stanford; and a host of cousins and friends.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at McKnight Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dan Gutenson officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Church of Christ Cemetery.

WAYNESBURG - Paul Hoseclaw, 79, formerly of Waynesburg, died Tuesday.

Born Nov. 4, 1928, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Howard "Uncle Bob" and Dana Norris Hoseclaw. Paul was a construction worker and served our country in the Army.

Survivors include two sisters, Mary Calla and Ruth Demore, both of New Jersey; and cousins, nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home with Bro. Cecil Roundtree officiating. Burial will be in Jacobs Hill Cemetery with military rites by the Caswell Saufley Post No. 18 of the American Legion.

CRAB ORCHARD - Lula Mae Howard, 76, of Pine Grove Road, formerly of Perryville, went to be with the Lord at her home on Sunday, March 30.

Born March 28, 1932, in Crab Orchard, she was a daughter of the late Willie J. and Myrtle Hinds Adams. She was the wife of the late Joe Edward Howard, whom she married on Nov. 11, 1949, in Crab Orchard. She was owner of the former H & H Produce in Perryville and Family Cuts and More in Stanford. She most recently was co-owner of Circle H. Farms in Crab Orchard. She was a former employee of Palm Beach Co. and had worked in private duty care for many years. Darrell B. Hubbard, 81, died Thursday, Feb. 14 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.

Born in Wise, Va., he was a son of the late John and Goldie Bryant Hubbard. Mr. Hubbard was a World War II Navy veteran, retired Greyhound bus driver, and member of the American Legion Post #8 and Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.

A native of White County, Tenn., she was born May 2, 1925 to the late William Mack and Vina Steele Edmonds. She was a housewife and a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church in Center Point, Tenn.

She was also preceded in death by five brothers, Becher, Richard, Earl, Walt, and Mack Edmonds, Jr.; and two sisters, Florene Davis and Ersie Carter.

MORELAND - Ada McCauley, 82, of Tulsa, Okla., formerly of Danville, died Wednesday in Oklahoma.

Born Aug. 18, 1925, in Casey County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Virgil and Pearl Clarkston Hill. She was retired from Philips Lighting (Corning) in Danville and a member of First Baptist Church, Danville.

She was married in 1943 and had a son, Joseph McCauley, and a daughter, Gwynn Wallace. She had been living in Tulsa, Okla., with her daughter and son-in-law for 5-1/2 years. Now, she is coming back home to rest. We will be celebrating her life here on earth and her life as she crosses over to the promise land with our Lord Jesus Christ. She is walking on those streets of gold. How wonderful that will be! We give Him all the praise and glory.

Born Sunday, March 20, 1910, in Pulaski County to the late Winfield Scott & Clara Ann Losey Calhoun, she was married to the late Hubert Wesley Meece. Lena was a homemaker and charter member of Calvary Hill Baptist Church and also was active in Lincoln County Senior Citizens.

Lena leaves behind two daughters, Mary Jewell Pinkston of Lexington and Anna Meece Murphy and her husband Charles E. of Lancaster; three daughter-in-laws, Regina Meece of Stanford, Irene Meece of Harrison, Ohio, and Wanda Meece of Dry Ridge; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

Lena was preceded in death by three sons, David Franklin Meece, Arthur Wesley Meece and Charles Edward Meece; a son-in-law, William Pinkston; a brother and five sisters.

WAYNESBURG - Hazel Vaughn Hatter Moran, 76, of Kings Mountain died Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at her home on Hatter Road.

Born Nov. 11, 1931, in Casey County, she was a daughter of the late Lewis Cash and Betty Allen Vaughn. Hazel was preceded in death by her first husband, Arlis "Mitch" Hatter, in 1978 and her second husband, Paul Moran, in 2003. Hazel was first and foremost a mother and grandmother, and loved her family. She worked for 24 years at Cowden Manufacturing Co. in Lancaster. She faithfully attended Mount Olive Christian Church.

Hazel leaves behind a host of friends and most importantly family, including a son, Michael Hatter and his wife Teresa of Kings Mountain; four daughters, Phyllis Harris and her husband Phillip of Cincinnati, Ohio, Marketta Woods and her special friend Sonny Tucker of Liberty, Marilee Monroe and her husband Greg of Sunbright, Tenn., and Kathy Kelley and her husband Steve of Stanford; a brother, Raymond Vaughn of Richmond; and a sister, Geraldine Meiners of Milford, Ohio. CRAB ORCHARD - Dottie Ray Ping Poynter, 55, of Crab Orchard died Monday at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington. She was the wife of Cliston W. Poynter, whom she married on April 6, 1985.

Dottie was born on Aug. 5, 1952, in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Claymon Ray and Dorothy Mae DeZarn Ping. Due to her mother's death during childbirth, Dottie was raised by her grandparents, Joe and Vernie Ping. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and Women's Missionary Union. Dottie also was a Sunday school teacher and custodian at Liberty Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Cliston W. Poynter of Crab Orchard; a brother, Terry and wife Katy Ping of Fenton, Mo.; aunts, Pauline and husband Don Gentry of Brodhead, and Patsy Mihalek and friend Tom Pyle of Mason, Ohio; and a cousin, Connie and husband Marvin Harness of Crab Orchard. Dottie also was survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claymon Ray and Dorothy Mae Ping; grandparents, Joe and Vernie Ping; a brother, Tim Ping; an uncle, Joe Vernon Ping; and two aunts, Wilmoth Mae Ping Hawkins and Peggy Ann Ping.

Funeral services will be noon Friday at Liberty Baptist Church with Bro. Zandell Hasty officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.

Born May 21, 1939, he was a son of the late Andrew Jackson Pullam and Myrtle Jane Broadhurst Pullam. He was a process engineer in the plastics division of James River Corp.

Survivors include two daughters, Vonnie (Daniel) Smallwood of Junction City and Jana Beth Wamsley of Craigsville, W.Va.; two sons, Floyd Pullam of Indiana and Steven Pullam of Galax, Va.; a brother, Alford Orville Pullam; and a sister, Veda Howard, both of East Alton, Ill.; 15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Born May 5, 1906, in Wayne County, she was a daughter of the late George and Mary Lou Barker Rankin and a retired school teacher for the deaf in Montana.

Survivors include four nephews, Russell Rankin of Covington, Julian Rankin of Stanford, James Thomas Rankin of Preachersville and Clarence Lee Rankin of Stanford; three nieces, Jo Ann Grow of Lancaster, Roberta Thompson of Florida and Lucille Kirkpatrick of Hustonville; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Nancy Jane Rice Reynolds, 72, of Parksville died Saturday at Danville Centre for Health and Rehabilitation.

Born July 21, 1935, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Essie Thomas Rice. She was a retired nurse's aid for Eastern State Hospital and also formerly worked at Kentucky State Hospital. Nancy was a founding member of the Parksville Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed caring for others and playing Rook.

Survivors include her husband, whom she wed on Oct. 6, 1951, Leon Elwood Reynolds; two sons, James Dallas (Susan) Reynolds and Richard Leslie (Marcia) Reynolds, both of Perryville; a daughter, Martha Faye (Freddie) Turner of Alum Springs; four brothers, Howard and David Rice, both of Parksville, Joe Rice of Danville and Freddie Rice of Fulton, Ind.; a sister, Lillian Allender of Hustonville; seven grandchildren, Tharen, Chris, Jamie, Lisa, Jason, Landon and Leslie; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Otis, Michael and Douglas Rice, and a sister, Norma Rice.

Services will be 11 a. m. Tuesday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home with Bro. Junior Fields officiating. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.

Born June 30, 1937, in Waynesburg, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Grace Burleson Leach. She operated a produce stand in Stuart, Fla., for 30 years and was a member of Olive Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Donald H. Smith of Waynesburg; two daughters, Rebecca Lynn Bruner and Teresa Gail Barbour, both of Stuart, Fla.; a son, Donald H. Smith of Waynesburg; four brothers, Raymond Leach Jr. of Stockbridge, Ga., Freeman Leach of Hampton, Calif., Jerry Leach of Waynesburg and Gary Leach of Somerset; three sisters, Dorothy Fisher of Waynesburg, Lily Faye Ginn of Mountain View, Ark., and Lucy Alderman of Canton, Ga.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

STANFORD — Raymond Earl Smith, 73, of New Salem, died Sunday, March 9, 2008, at Fort Logan Hospital.

Born July 5, 1934, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Edgar and Lillie Fletcher Smith. Raymond Earl was a retired state highway employee and a United States Navy veteran, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid U.K. Wildcat fan.

Survivors include his wife of almost 47 years, Mary Jo Martin Smith; three daughters, Rita Ellis of New Salem, Jenny (John) Edwards of Hustonville, Kimberly (Tim) Raikes of Bradfordsville; two sisters, Peggy (Johnny) Coffman of Geneva, and Wilmoth (Jim) Cain of New Salem; three brothers, Ollis (Shirley) Smith of Lancaster, Bennie (Louada) Smith of Stanford, and Lester (Betty) Smith of New Salem; eight grandchildren, Ashley King, Zach, Ryan and Dylan Ellis, Jake and Ethan Edwards, Justin Lark and Kelsey Raikes; two great-grandchildren and Kayden and Bryce King.

Raymond Earl was preceded in death by a grandson,

Gary Lark; six brothers: James Lee, Lloyd, Dennie, Hollis, G.W. and Edgar Smith Jr.; and a sister, Opal Smith.

Myrtle Christine Nave Swegles, of Moreno Valley, Calif., died Saturday, March 29.

A native of Stanford, she was born September 1917 to the late Louis and Fannie Boain Nave of Lincoln County. She attended McCormick Christian School, Hubble School, graduated from Stanford High School and Covington School of Nursing, was a school nurse in California, part owner of a rest home in Moreno Valley, a licensed cosmetologist, owner of Beauty Supply House and Company and a salon, a Seventh Day Adventist, and widow of John (Jack) Swegles.

She was also preceded in death by five brothers, Walter Nave of Dayton, Ohio, Elwood, Hughie and Roy Nave all of Lincoln County, and Earl D. Nave of Paint Lick; a step sister, Lillian Russell of Stanford.

Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Berry and Christine Smith of California; two sons, John (Sonny) Swegles, Jr., and Charles Louis Swegles of California; one sister, Essie Lee Nave of Lancaster; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at Victory Christian Church in Lancaster for the Nave family and friends within the next two weeks.

CRAB ORCHARD - Loretta Braley Woodall, 62, of Danville, formerly of Stanford, died Saturday at her home. Loretta was born May 23, 1945, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Ottis Bradford and Fredia Corba Reynolds Braley.

Survivors include two sons, Curtis Clayton Hampton and Charles Edward Hampton, both of Stanford; a daughter, Lisa Fay Coleman of Stanford; two brothers, Ed Braley and Hershel Braley, both of Crab Orchard; eight sisters, Alline Bryant, Cat Adams, Lorene Casada and Lillian Wilson, all of Crab Orchard, Barb Elder of Eubank, Sharon Burton and Sara Brown, both of Somerset, and Hilda Wilson of Irvine; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, Brad and Corba Braley; the father of her children, Buddy Hampton; four sisters, Joyce, Ina and Ida Braley and Eula Taylor.
