Baker, 62, of Rt. 1, Crab Orchard died Saturday, June 20 at the Fort Logan
Hospital due to an apparent heart attack.
She
was born in Fayette County on September 5, 1924 to the late Charlie and Sarah
Wallin Denney. She was a housewife. A son William Baker preceded her in death.
Survivors
include her husband, Glen Baker of Rt. 1, Crab Orchard; three sons, Jimmy Baker
of Myrtle Beach S.C., Gary Baker of Cincinnati, Ohio and Dennie
Baker of
Hamilton, Ohio; two daughters, Glenda Dewald of Cincinnati, Ohio and Roxetta
Ball of Fairfield, Ohio; three sisters, Ella Mae Locknane of Lexington, Pearl
Bunch of Hamilton, Ohio and Ruby Hickey of Barbourville, Fla.; 11 grandchildren;
nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral
services were 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 24 at the Martin Funeral Home with
Harold Carter officiating. Burial was in the Bethel Cemetery.

were Rick Dewald, Tim Deward, Charlie Dewald, Todd Baker, John Locknane and
Jerry Bunch.

Home, officiated by Rev. Bill Hawkins. Burial was in the Lancaster
Cemetery.

Ballard.
He
was a farmer, an employee of Sugar Knoll Horse Farm and former employee of
Canada Dry Distilling Company. He was a member of Bryantsville United Methodist
Church,
a member of the DAV and was an Army Veteran of World War II.

for 23 years in the Lincoln County system.
He was a member of Geneva Baptist Church, a
World War II Army veteran and
a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Medical Center, after having been ill for about a year.

in Minneapolis, Minnesota to the late Anna Mauer and Marcus Mauer on Jan. 25,
1926.
Mrs.
Baugh had lived in Waynesburg for about three years, having come here from
Chicago, Illinois. She was a housewife. She married Lonnie Baugh on August 25,
1946, whom survives her.
Survivors
include 2 sons, Dan and Leonard Baugh, both of Waynesburg; 3 daughters, Mrs.
Susan Cress, Mrs. Adele Padgett and Miss Diane Baugh, all of Waynesburg; 8
grandchildren;

Mary
Elizabeth Carson Baughman, a Stanford resident for all but a handful of her 95
years, died Monday, Aug. 21, 2000 at the Christian Health Center in Louisville.
A
nurse, teacher, wife and mother, Mrs. Baughman is best known to many Lincoln
Countians for her polite kindness that began with sending care packages to local
soldiers during
World War II and continued after health forced her to move to
the Christian Home in Louisville in 1990.
Mrs.
Baughman would scour the Interior Journal weekly and drop notes of
congratulations to youngsters whose names appeared on school honor rolls or
other noteworthy endeavors.
Born
Sept. 25, 1905 in Stanford to the late James Thomas and Susie Belle Carter
Carson. Mrs. Baughman attended Centre Collage and graduated from Georgetown
College in 1928.
She
taught nursing at Norton Hospital in Louisville and Good Samaritan Hospital in
Lexington before moving back to Stanford in 1936 when she married William Henry
Baughman,
Sr., a farmer and avid tennis player. In Stanford she was active in
the Stanford Christian Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, PTA, the
Stanford Garden Club,
various church circles and was active in the Red Cross
during the war. She also served as a substitute teacher.
Mrs.
Baughman is survived by two sons, Dr. William Henry Baughman Jr. of Smithfield,
Ky., a retired college professor, and Dr. James Carson Baughman of Stanford,
a
retired minister of the Christian Church; three grandchildren and seven great-
grandchildren.
Funeral
services will be led by her son, James Baughman, at 10 a.m. Thursday at Fox
Funeral Home with burial in Buffalo Springs Cemetery

G. Bowling, 94, of Rt. 1, Stanford, died Tuesday at the Veteran Administration
Medical Center in Lexington following a lengthy illness.
Bowling
owned and operated a grocery store at Walnut Flat for over 51 years. Just last
year he had a shoot out with some would-be burglars and drove them away.
Bowling
was born in Laurel County on Dec. 4, 1892 to the late Jesse and Eliza Cloyd
Bowling.
He
was a veteran of World War I, a member of the Caswell Saufley Post # 18 of the
American Legion and was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons.
Survivors
include four nephews, Jesse A. Bowling of Versailles, Charles Hackley of
Stanford, Dr. E. C. Bowling, Jr. of Lebanon and Clifford House of Crab Orchard;
three nieces, Ann Wyler of Stanford, Edith Hoskins of Stanford and Dorothy

Joe Craig and Laura Lee Hardin Magee. She was a waitress and a member of the
Crab Orchard Christian Church.
Her
husband, Bowen McRobert Butt, and two children preceded her in death.
She
is survived by three sons, Bobby Lee Butt, Ann Arbor, Michigan, Ronald Naper
Butt, Lansing, Michigan and William McRoberts Butt, Detroit, Michigan; one
daughter, Virginia Sue Castonguay,
Detroit, Michigan; one brother, Lee Magee,
Crab Orchard; 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and several nieces and
nephews and cousins.
Funeral
services were held Thursday, at 2 p.m. at the Crab Orchard Christian Church,
with Derrel Cone Officiating.

has been received here of the death of Robert Butt, a native of Lincoln County
who was residing in Wyandotte, Michigan at the time of his death.
Robert
Butt, 65, died unexpectedly of an apparent heart attack at his home Feb. 2,
1979.
He
was born May 14, 1912, in Highland, Kentucky, the son of U. O. (Cap) and Cora
Cook Butt. but had spent his adult life in Michigan.
He
is survived by his wife (Elsie Carlson Butt), and
four Children. Burial was in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, Flat Rock, Michigan.
Mr.
Butt was a cousin to Mrs. Marie Reed, Mrs. Violet James, of Lincoln County and
Mrs. Betty Austin of Somerset.
