Rosa KINDER SMITH
Rosa Kinder Smith, 80, of Barbourville, passed away Sunday morning, January 7, 2007 at the home of her daughter, Gladys Walsh, in Fraser, MI. She was a daughter of the late James and Fannie Hammons Kinder born on November 23, 1926 in Knox County. Ms. Smith was a homemaker and a member of the Barbourville Church of God. She enjoyed fishing and crafts. On January 7, 1942, she united in marriage with Sterling Smith in Barbourville and to this union eight children were born. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Ray Smith; five brothers; and three sisters. Survivors include her children, Phronie Hamilton of Dayton, OH, Gladys Walsh of Fraser, MI, Linda Jackson of Roseville, MI, Mary Garza of Shelbyville Township, MI, Abe Smith and George Smith both of Barbourville and Michael Keith Smith of Columbia, SC; a sister, Effie Smith of Barbourville; 20 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; among other loved ones and dear friends who mourn her passing. Her funeral service was conducted at the Barbourville Church of God Friday, January 12 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Jeff Warren officiating. She was laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery. Casket bearers were family and friends. Honorary bearers were Don Bertram, the staff of the Guardian Angels in Michigan and the staff of the South Carolina Oncology Association. Arrangements were under the direction of the KNOX FUNERAL HOME.
