EG Smith (May 18, 1943 - August 7, 2007) EG Smith, age 64 of Barbourville, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday August 7, 2007 in the Knox County Hospital. He was the son of the late Milton Smith and Edna Bargo Smith. He was born on May 18, 1943 at Salt Gum, Kentucky. He was a welder in the maintenance department for the Marion Fabricating plant at General Motors in Marion, Indiana for 33 years. He was a member of the SunnyCrest Baptist Church in Marion, Indiana. On October 4, 1958 he united in marriage with June Walters. EG was a member of the Masonic Lodge # 17 in Hamilton, Ohio. He was also a Kentucky Colonel. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Glenda Sue Smith,a Brother-in-law, Buster Warren, and a sister-in-law, Pat Smith. EG is survived by his wife June Smith of Barbourville, Kentucky. A son, David Smith of Fairfield, Ohio. His daughter, Donna Kramer and husband Scott of Pace, Florida. Three grandchildren, Jeremy, Taylor, and Dylan Smith. One sister, Brenda Faye Warren of Barbourville, Kentucky. Three brothers, R.P Smith and wife Imogene, Otis Smith and wife Carol, and Jerry Smith and wife Wanda all of Barbourville. He also leaves behind many other dear family and friends. Funeral services for EG Smith will be conducted in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday August 11, 2007 at 2:00pm with Rev. Roger Jordan officiating. Burial will follow in the Helton Cemetery at Paint Hill with Friends and Family serving as Pallbearers. The Smith family will receive friends on Friday after 6:00pm until 9:00pm, and on Saturday after 9:00am until the funeral hour at 2:00pm. There will be a Masonic Service held at 8:00pm Friday evening. Arrangements are under the direction of Hopper Funeral Home. |
