Doris Gilbert Schakel, 74, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, of lung cancer. Doris was born in Tedders, Ky., on Sept. 16, 1930, and she spent her life caring for family and friends. She had a generous spirit, a keen intelligence and a deep love of her family. She enjoyed adventure and learning, liked to hunt and fish, traveled extensively around the world, and loved gardening and creating beauty in her home. Doris joins her husband, Karl Schakel, who passed away in 2002. She is survived by many loving family members, including children, sister Ruth, brother Paul, 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, numerous aunts and cousins and a multitude of friends. We will all miss her deeply. A funeral service was held on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005 at Allnutt Drake Road Chapel, 650 Drake Road, Fort Collins, Co.
