James L. SCALF

James L. Scalf, 69, of Barbourville, passed away Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006 at his home. He was a son of the late Will and Cora Smith Scalf. He was a self-employed mason and was of the Holiness faith. He served in the U.S. Army. He united in marriage with Mary Lou Helton and one son was born.

He is survived by one son, Jimmy Lee Scalf and friend Melissa Hembree; four sisters, Joyce Leggett and husband Ricky, Wandy Mongony, Flossie Wiles and husband Bob and Loma Messer; one brother, Claude Scalf and wife Linda; longtime companion, Della Hutchinson.

Services were conducted in Knox Funeral Home Chapel Sunday, Jan. 29 with the Revs. Denvil Taylor and Bobby Lawson officiating. Burial was in Tanyard Cemetery with military graveside rites by the American Legion. Arrangements were under the direction of Knox Funeral Home.
