Cyndia Hopkins Saylor

Mrs. Cyndia Hopkins Saylor, 102, of Barbourville, passed away Monday afternoon, Sept. 26, 2005 at her home. She was the oldest child of the late Columbus and Martha Collins Hopkins, born on Sept. 29, 1912 at Copper Creek in Rockcastle County.

Mrs. Saylor was a former homemaker and a member of the First Christian Church of Barbourville. She was a past president of the Tuesday Club. She enjoyed growing flowers and sewing.

She united in marriage with Grant Saylor and to this union one son was born.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Grant in 1984 and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her son, Donald Keith Saylor and wife Debbie of Midway, Tenn.; a sister, Dorothy and husband Alex of Germantown, Ohio; four grandchildren, Dennis Saylor and wife Robin of Peachtree City, Ga., Larry Saylor of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mary Candace Saylor of Johnson City, Tenn. and Douglas Saylor and wife Cathy of Richmond Hill, Ga.; seven great grandchildren; a special friend, Vickie Pridemore of Barbourville; among other loved ones and dear friends who mourn her passing.

Her funeral service was conducted in Knox Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Marvis Pridemore officiating. Mrs. Saylor was laid to rest in Resthaven Cemetery at Loyall Thursday, Sept. 29 at 1 p.m.

Casketbearers were family and friends. Honorary bearers were Ted Howard, Bill Don Howard, Dr. Charles Stargel, Bert Scent and Conley Congleton.

Arrangements were under the direction of Knox Funeral Home.
