Barbara Pauline PHILPOT

Mrs. Barbara Pauline Bain Philpot, 81, of Oak Ridge, Tenn., was born on May 4, 1925 in Wheeler, Ky., to the late Mae and Anderson Bain and departed this life on Wednesday, July 5, 2006 in Jasper, Ga. She and her husband Dee moved to Oak Ridge in 1948 and were co-owners of Philpot Dry Cleaners, where she worked as a presser and checkout clerk at the main plant, and pickup office. Her last years were spent in the Mountain Health Care Center in Jasper. In addition to her parents, her husband, Dee Philpot, three brothers: Anderson Bain Jr., Fred Bain and Eugene Bain preceded her in death. She is survived by two daughters: Brenda Gass and husband Lewis of Ranger, Ga. and Peggy Gregg of Dandridge, Tenn.; a sister, Gunnell Maples of Siler City, N.C.; three brothers: Jim Bain and wife Anna of Butler, Ky., Pete Bain of Barbourville, and Bill Bain and wife Sharon of Louisville, Tenn.; grandchildren: Amy Humphrey and husband David of Jefferson City, Joel Gregg of St. Neot's, UK, Tobie Gass of Belgrade, Serbia and Carrie Bette Bretz and husband Justin of Orofino, Idaho; great grandchildren: Sarah and John Anderson Humphrey; special life long friends: Edna Wheeler and Elaine Whittaker of Oak Ridge, and a host of other relatives and many friends to mourn her passing. A graveside service was conducted at Swan Pond on Sunday, July 9 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Jerry Vaughn officiating. Hopper Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
