| Elizabeth Gladys Peace, 92, of Barbourville, was born on October 15, 1914 in Knox County, Kentucky. She was a daughter of the late Hattie Evans. Mrs. Peace died Tuesday, November 14, 2006 in the Barbourville Nursing Home. She was the oldest member of the Advent Christian Church in Barbourville. Mrs. Peace worked at Nell's Dress Shop in Barbourville for over 40 years before retiring. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Juanita June Peace Stephens; her brother, Ted Evans and brother-in-law, James Williams. Elizabeth is survived by her beloved grandson, Gregg Stephens and wife Sandra of Knoxville, Tennessee; her great grandchildren, Casey Benjamin Stephens, Justin Edmond Stephens and Madison Elizabeth Stephens; her sister, Mary Williams of Barbourville; several beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and her church family at the Advent Christian Church in Barbourville. Funeral services for Elizabeth "Lib" Gladys Peace were conducted in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel Saturday, November 18 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Leonard Lester officiating. Interment followed in the Evans Cemetery at King in Knox County, with Casey B. Stephens, Justin Stephens, Weldon Lester, Jim Tye, Eric Evans and Steven Chaffin serving as pallbearers. |
