CHARLES J. MOORE, 82, of Corbin, was born on September 4, 1917, at Tedders, Kentucky to the late Richard L. Moore and Rebecca Taylor Moore. Mr. Moore died in the Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin, Monday, July 3, 2000. He was a retired technician for The Department of Defense. Mr. Moore was a United States Air Force Veteran, having served during World War II. He was a member of the Ham Radio Operator Club in London. On November 28, 1945 he united in marriage to Vera H. Owens. He is survived by his wife of over 54 years, Vera H. Owens Moore of Corbin; his son, Charles D. Moore and wife Helen of Barbourville; his granddaughter, Mindy Elizabeth Moore; his sister, Lucy Childers and husband Fount of Muncy, Indiana; two brothers, Clayborne Moore of Clio, Michigan and Richard L. Moore and wife Lois of Pinehurst, North Carolina; his sister-in-law, Louise James and husband Richard of Barbourville; his brother-in-law, Charles Owens and wife Louise of Shreveport, Louisiana; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Moore was preceded in death by three sisters, Dorothy Cobb, Eula Mae Moore and Ortie Cottongim; and one brother, Elton Moore. Funeral services for Charles J. Moore were conducted in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, Friday, July 7, 2000 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Barry Howard officiating. Interment followed in the Barbourville Cemetery. Pallbearers were family members and friends: Charles Owens, Steve Owens, Harold Miracle, Charles Smith, Garrett Smith and Dean Cottongim. Honorary pallbearers were the Stonegate Neighborhood in Corbin. Hopper Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
