Mrs. Magalene Tate Mills, 67, of Barbourville, the widow of George Tate and Mitchell Mills, passed away Tuesday afternoon, November 6, 2007 in the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. She was a daughter of the late Jim and Mary Jane Redford Smith born on July 4, 1940 in Knox County.

Mrs. Mills was a homemaker and enjoyed collecting things. She believed in the Holiness faith.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Leda Owens and Telitha Earls and her husband, Harold, and a brother, James Smith.

Survivors include four children, Paul Tate and wife, Lynn, of London, Billy Ray Tate of Barbourville, Ricky Lee Mills Sr. and wife, Donna, of London and James Michael Mills of Barbourville; five grandchildren, Brandon Tate, Rochelle Rice, Dustin Mills, Ricky Mills Jr. and Dereck Murphy; a special friend, Brenda Sears of Barbourville; several nieces and nephews; among other loved ones and dear friends who mourn her passing.

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Friday, November 9 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Roy Eversole and Rev. Tommy Frazier officiating. Mrs. Mills will be laid to rest in the Henry Mills Cemetery at Hammond.

Casket bearers will be Gary Smith, Ronnie Smith, Ricky Smith, Tommy Hubbard, Johnny Hubbard and Jason Mason. Honorary bearers will be Dr. West and the staff of Knox Family Medicine.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
