Paula Marie Messer (August 18, 1972 - June 4, 2007)

Paula Marie Messer, age 34 of Barbourville, passed away on Monday June 4, 2007 in the UK Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Nevel Smith and Lydia Gray Smith, born to them on August 18, 1972 in Bell County, Kentucky. Paula was a Homemaker. She was a Christian and Attended the New Girdler Holiness Church. On November 17, 2001 she united in marriage with Truman Scott Messer. Paula was preceded in death by an Infant, Farrah Danielle Hinkle. A Sister, Linda Kay Smith, Nephew, Robert Adam Hinkle, her Maternal Grandparents, Billy and Gussie Gray. Paternal Grandfather, Lloyd �Cal� Smith, and her Sisters-in-laws, Angela Messer Sanders and Tonya Sue Messer.

Paula is survived by her Husband; Truman Scottie Messer of Walker, Kentucky. A son; Billy Lloyd Smith of Barbourville. Her daughter; Shiann Kay Fuston of Barbourville. A Granddaughter; Kylie Madison Smith. Her Mother; Lydia Bailey and Stepfather Jim of Gray, Kentucky. Her Father Nevel Smith of Hammond, Kentucky. Paternal Grandmother; Ruby Smith of Barbourville. Her Mother-in-law and Father-in-law; Geraldine Taylor Messer and Truman Wayne Messer of Walker, Kentucky. Her Sister; Lisa Messer and Curt of Mills, Kentucky. Two half Sisters; Tammy and Tina Smith. She also leaves behind many beloved Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, and Nephews.

Funeral services for Paula Messer will be conducted in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday June 7, 2007 at 2:00PM with Rev. Charles Bright, Rev. John Whitehead, and Rev. Jerry Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Henry Mills Cemetery at Roadfork with the Kentucky National Guard, Jeff Patterson, Mike W. Mills, Tony Merritt, Charles Jones, Rob Adams, and Reid Corey serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are the Kentucky National Guard ( Mountain Warriors Battalion) presently serving in Iraq. The Messer family will receive friends at Hopper Funeral Home this morning after 9:00am until the funeral hour at 2:00pm. Arrangements are under the direction of Hopper Funeral Home.
