MARY JANE LAWSON MAYS, 91, Barbourville, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2002 at the Knox County Hospital.

She was a member of the Locust Grove Baptist Church at Goldens Creek. Survivors include five daughters, Jewell Fugate of Lancaster, Alma Jean Centers of Williamsburg, Zona Carpenter of Williamsburg, Shirley McKiddy and husband, Lawrence of Girdler and Mildred Slavey and husband, Jim of Barbourville; three sons, Carl Mays and wife, Janice of Poplar Creek, Johnny Mays and wife, Sherry of Hartford and Paul Mays and wife, Shelia of Poplar Creek; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 9 at the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel with her grandson, Rev. Billy Carpenter officiating. Burial was in the Wilson Cemetery at Goldens Creek.
