Amon Burton MATLOCK

Mr. Amon Burton Matlock age 84 of Barbourville, Ky., formerly of Golden�s Creek departed this life on Tuesday-June 27, 2006 in the Knox Co. Hospital. He was born on June 20, 1922 in Whitley Co. the son of Wesley Matlock and Neal Carpenter Matlock. Mr. Matlock was a coal miner and a saw mill worker during his life. He was also a WWII Army Veteran having served in Japan. He was a member of the Locust Grove Baptist Church at Golden�s Creek. On September 29, 1941 he united in marriage with Clara Shelton and to this union twelve children were born. Later in life he married Marie Russ. Mr. Matlock enjoyed being with his family and especially loved fishing in his spare time. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Clara Matlock, his parents, Wesley and Neal Matlock, two sons, McKinley and John Wesley Matlock, one great granddaughter, Melissa Hopper Davis and five brothers, Riffie, Asa, Jerome, Elihu and John Lee Matlock. Survivors include: His wife: Marie Matlock of Barbourville, Ky. Three sons: Charles &Trula Matlock of Goldens Creek, Ronnie &Jackie Matlock of Goldens Creek and Bobby Matlock of Flat Creek Seven Daughters: Alma and Charles Carriveau of Bailey Switch, Barbara &George Peace of Barbourville, Connie &Rick Eastridge of Goldens Creek, Karen &Ronnie Gibson Of Flat Creek, Peggy &Gary Helton of Flat Creek, Mary &Les Brown of Boone Height and Debbie Lawson of Flat Lick One sister: Dessie Head of Goldens Creek Twenty Three Grandchildren, Thirty One great grandchildren and two great great Grandchildren Six step children: Zelma, Ruth, Matt, Don, Larry &Elmer Mr. Matlock also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. Funeral services for Mr. Amon Matlock will be conducted on Friday June 30, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at the Locust Grove Baptist Church on Golden�s Creek with Rev. Arnold Petrey and Rev. Ronnie Rose officiating. Pallbearers will be Mr. Matlock�s grandsons, Chuck Matlock, Bobby Hill, Chris Peace, Shaun Partin, Brad Helton, Sam Hill, Tommy Eastridge, Brian Matlock, Joey Hill and Sam Eastridge. Honorary Pallbearers will be all friends &neighbors. Burial will be in the Wilson Cemetery on Golden�s Creek. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements. The family would like to send a special Thank You to all his caregivers: Glenda Hibbard, Barbara Henson, Vivian, Betty, Helen, Mrs. Jackson and Neva along with Dr. Maria Atienza and staff, Dr. Vora and staff, Professional Home Health Staff and the Knox Co. Hospital Nurses and staff. READ THURSDAY: Friends will be received for one hour at Hampton Funeral Home This evening from 4:00 until 5:00 p.m. Mr. Matlock will then be taken To the Locust Grove Baptist Church where he will lie in state after 6:00 p.m. this evening until the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. READ FRIDAY: The Matlock family will receive friends today at the Locust Grove Baptist Church today until the service at 1:00 p.m. To the Matlock family, the staff of the Hampton Funeral Home would like to offer you our heartfelt sympathy during your time of bereavement.
