Shelt Maiden

SHELT MAIDEN 81, of Walker Park Road, Barbourville, the son of the late Wesley and Nerva Maiden, was born on October 11,1919 in the Knox County Hospital. Mr Maiden was a retired coal miner and member of the Swan Lake Baptist Church. On December 1, 1942 he united in marriage with Minnie Bays and to this union four children were born.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by one son, Jerry Maiden, one sister and two brothers.

He is survived by his wife Minnie Maiden of Walker Park Road; Carl Maiden and wife Geraldine; and granddaughter Joy, also of Walker Park Road; two daughters, Cathy Maiden Smith of Girdler, Ky., and Betty Maiden of Walker Park Road; three brothers; Filip Maiden and wife Pauline of Bryant Store, Ky.

He is also survived by seven sisters, Melissa Mayne of Barbourville, Betsy Smith and husband David of Williamstown, Manerva Partin of Barbourville, Lois Smith and husband Leroy of Williamstown, Marie Hyden and Sara Logan, both of Barbourville, and Jean Burch and husband Jim of Sharonville, Ohio.

Mr. Maiden also leaves behind many other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

Funeral services for Mr. Shelt Maiden were conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday-June 9, 2001 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Harold Lawson officiating. Burial was in the Evans Cemetary at Kingtown. Hampton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
