Fred JONES

Fred Jones, age 83 of Barbourville, was born on December 26, 1923 at Cawood, Kentucky. He was a son of the late Thomas Jones and Sarah Jane Swanson Jones. Mr. Jones died on Friday November 23, 2007 in the U. K Medical Center in Lexington. He was a member of the Beacon Baptist Church. Mr. Jones was a retired federal mine inspector. He was a United States World War II Veteran, and was a member and mason of the Barbourville Mountain Lodge # 187 F&AM. On January 15, 1950, he united in marriage to Nancy Caudill. Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, Nancy Caudill Jones of Barbourville; His children; Anthony Jones and wife, Sheila of Fairfax, Virginia; Robert Davis of Barbourville; Thomas Jones and wife, Sandy of Corbin; John Jones of Barbourville; Don Jones of Paintsville, Kentucky; Jim Jones and wife, Marcie of Bimble; Sharon Hembree and husband, Dennis; and Cindy Jones all of Barbourville; Joy Jones Mittower of Cedar Valley, Utah and Jennifer Jones of Barbourville; His thirteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren; His Sister; Nelle Miller of Dayton, Kentucky; and his Brother; Eldon Jones of Cawood, Kentucky. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by three sons; Bill, Tim and Ernie; a grandson; Michael; a granddaughter; Rebecca; A sister; Eva Burkhart and two Brothers; Calvin and Lawrence. Funeral Services for Fred Jones will be conducted in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, Monday, November 26, 2007 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Dennis Chesnut and Rev. Mike Collins officiating. Interment will follow in the Barbourville Cemetery, with, Martin Ray Burkhart, Boyd Wayne Burkhart, David Lee Burkhart, Keith Miller, Mark Miller and Michael Jones serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Don I. Bingham, James Turpin, Gary Leddington, David Lundy and Herb Johnson. Friends will be recieved at the Hopper Funeral Home Sunday after 6 p.m. Masonic Services will be conducted Sunday evening at 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Vistation, Monday, will be after 10 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1 p.m. Arrangements will be under the direction of Hopper Funeral Home.
