Mrs. Clarence Jackson

Obituary Donated by Terry McDaniel

From the Barbourville Mountain Advocate January 26, 1923

The numerous friends of Mrs. Clarence Jackson will be made sad to learn of her untimely death which occurred January 19, 1923, due to pneumonia after a short illness. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Hampton, born August 7th, 1896, being at the time of her death 26 years, 5 months, 12 days old.
She was married to Clarence Jackson December 29, 1922. She leaves a bereaved husband and a dear little daughter, Mildred Helen Jackson, three months old, a father and mother, five sisters and four brothers besides a host of friends to mourn her death.
She was for several years a successful teacher in the public schools and made lasting friends wherever she went because to know her was to love her. She always had a pleasant smile and a kind word for everyone. Hers was a beautiful Christian character.
Fully reconciled to go home, she feasted on her favorite passages of scripture and songs which told of her trust in the Heavenly Father, and beggered her husband and dear ones to not grieve for her for she was going home to Jesus. Everything that earthly hands could do to save her was done, but God had called and she must go. We can only say, "His will be done," and we know that our loss is her eternal gain.
The funeral services were held on Sunday, January 22, at 2:30 p.m. at the residence on Manchester St., by the Rev. John Owen Gross. The music was rendered by the Union College quartette assisted by Mrs. J. W. Hughes. The remains were interred in the City Cemetery.
