April 1973 William B. (Bill) Hubbard: William B (Bill) Hubbard whose editorial comments and letters to the editor were a feature of the Westside for many years died last Thursday in St. Joseph's Hospital. Mr. Hubbard came to the Westside in 1941 from Barbourville, KY. A native of Kentucky, he was 77 when he died. He was employed briefly in the drafting department of Goodyear Aerospace Corporation, and then managed the Goodyear Trailer Court at the corner of Western Avenue and Litchefield Road for 19 years. he then moved to 118 East Rose Lane Avondale where he lived for the past 10 years. Mr. Hubbard was active in Westside Boy Scout work, serving Goodyear and Avondale troops as an advisor. An ardent hunter and fisherman, he loved the outdoors. He was a member of the Church of Christ of Goodyear. Services were held Monday in Cannon funeral Home with internment in Greenwood Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Virginia; a daughter Mrs. Evelyn Tillman, Avondale; five grandchildren; Rusty Tillman of Tucson and Fairfax VA; Linda Lamphere, Phoenix; William S. Fulks, with the Armed Forces in Germany; Cherrie Fulks, Florida; and Diane Tillman, Avondale. Also Surviving are three sisters, Edna Zurmehly and Marie Bryant, both of Covington KY, and Mary of Kentucky; three brothers, Charles, James and Finely all of Knox County, KY; and five great grandchildren. submitted by Julie Hammond |
