Laura Mae Hicks (January 15, 1907 - January 14, 2008) Laura Mae Hicks age 100, formerly of Big Richland, was born on January 15, 1907 in Barbourville, Kentucky. She was a daughter of the late William Smith and Sarah Gilbert Smith. Mrs. Hicks died Monday, January 14, 2008 in the Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin. Mrs. Hicks was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church. She united in marriage to Leonard Hicks. Her Husband, Leonard; one Son, Charles Edward Hicks; two Grandchildren; Allen and Connie Hicks; all Sisters and Brothers; and a Daughter-in-law; Joan Hicks all preceded her in death. Mrs. Hicks is survived by her Sons; Leonard Hicks Jr. and wife, Mary of Troy, Michigan; Claude Wayne Hicks of Los Banos, California; Her Grandchildren; Brenda Forrest of Sterling Heights, Michigan; Sherry Roark, Janice Hicks, Randy Hicks, Larry Hicks, Dale Hicks all of Las Vegas, Nevada and Susan Hicks of Troy, Michigan; Fifteen Great Grandchildren and many other relatives and dear friends. Funeral Services for Laura Mae Hicks will be conducted at the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, Friday, January 18, 2008 at 11:00 a.m, with Rev. Dennis Chesnut officiating. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery in Corbin, with Grandsons and Nephews serving as pallbearers. The Hicks Family will receive friends at the Hopper Funeral Home Thursday, 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and after 9:00 a.m. Friday until the funeral hour at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements will be under the direction of Hopper Funeral Home. |
