| Andrew R. Eickhoff Jr. On July 23, in the presence of family, Andy Eickhoff Jr. lost his courageous four year battle with cancer. A service to celebrate Andy's life was held Friday, July 27 at 2:30 at First United Methodist Church, Jackson, with Rev. Ted Leach and Rev. Paul Clayton officiating. Visitation was Thursday, July 26, from 6 to 8 at George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home North and one hour prior to the service in Disciple Hall at the church. Andy was the son of Joan D. Eickhoff and the late Andrew R. Eickhoff Sr. He was raised in Peoria, Illinois and Barbourville, Ky. before making Jackson his home. Andy graduated from Lambuth University where he met his wife of 32 years. He received his Masters of Social Work Degree from the University of Tennessee. While at Lambuth, he was active in student government and a member of Kappa Alpha Order. In his adult life, he served the Order as Chapter Advisor for Gamma Omicron Chapter at Lambuth and as Province Commander for Feller Province. He also was a member of the Court of Honor. He was always an avid supporter of all Lambuth activities, especially the basketball and football programs. He served on the alumni board and as president of the Alumni Association. He was named Alumni of the Year in 2004. Professionally, he began working as an alcohol and drug counselor. He then pioneered the field of employee assistance programs in Jackson and surrounding area through the Jackson Counseling Center and later through his own company, REACT/EAP of Tennessee. He was involved in the state EAP Organization and on the state EAP Board, recently being awarded the title of Chairman Emeritus by gov. Phil Bredison. He also served on the executive board of his national organization for four years. Through his association with the companies who contracted with REACT andy touched thousands of lives and helped people in so many ways. Andy was an active member of First United Methodist church having served as past chairman of the Council on Ministries, on various committees and as an usher. He was instrumental in beginning the monthly First Friday Forum program which is still sponsored by the church today. Family members who will cherish his memory are his mother, Joan D. Eickhoff; his wife, Amy Eickhoff; his two daughters, Amanda Eickhoff Jackson of Jackson and Audra Eickhoff of Memphis; a grandson, Cody Jackson of Jackson; a sister, Jordan Scott (Kerry) of Jackson; father-in-law, Tommy Tackett (Peggy) of Humboldt; brother-in-law, Danny Tacker (Lynda) of Henderson; and three nephews, Aaron Smith of Jackson; Andy Nicholson of Fort Benning, Georgia; and Jason Tacker of Murfeesboro, Tennessee.In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Lambuth University/Andy and Amy Scholarship Fund or to First United Methodist Church. |
