Doris Marlene Gambrel Buchanan, age 63 of Barbourville, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday October 10, 2007 in Central Baptist hospital in Lexington. Doris was the daughter of the late John Henry Gambrel and Elizabeth Gray Gambrel. She was born on October 3, 1944 at Flat Lick, Kentucky. Doris was a Homemaker and a member of the Liberty Missionary Baptist Church. On January 1, 1978, she united in marriage with William Robert (Joe Tom) Buchanan. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Isaac William Buchanan, and two sisters, Mabel Gray and Lovella Gambrel.

Doris is survived by two sons, William Buchanan and wife Cherie of Artemus, and Denver Cox of Little Brush Creek. One daughter, Tammy Gibson and husband Bill of Fayetteville, Ohio. Three brothers, Glendon Gambrel of Flat Lick, Kentucky. John Gambrel of Pineville, Kentucky, and Sam Gambrel of Erlanger, Kentucky. Three sisters, Evelyn Bishop of West Virginia. Peggy Zimmerman of Michigan, and Mary Williams, of Corbin. Her grandchildren, James Denver Jr, Travis Aaron, Jacob Aaron, Alicia Michelle, and Haley Nicole. One great granddaughter, She also leaves behind several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral Services for Doris Buchanan will be conducted in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday October 13, 2007 at 8:00pm with Rev. James Bargo and Rev. B.F Jackson officiating. A graveside service will be conducted on Sunday October 14, 2007 at 10:00am in the Nelson Gray cemetery with Brian Osborne, Jerry Baker, Harold Fuson, Johnny Gunter, Terry Gray, and Billy Partin serving as pallbearers. The Buchanan family will receive friends at Hopper Funeral Home on Saturday after 5:30pm until the funeral hour at 8:00pm. And on Sunday at the Nelson Gray Cemetery prior to the graveside service at 10:00am. Arrangements are under the direction of Hopper Funeral Home.
