Nannie BLEVINS
Nannie "Big Mommy" Blevins, 86, of Heidrick, passed away Monday, Jan. 22, 2007 in Knox County Hospital. She was the widow of the late J.D. Blevins. Services will be held at Hopper Funeral Home Thursday at 2 p.m. Visitation will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Doolin Cemetery. HOPPER FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements. Nannie BLEVINS

Nannie Blevins, known to us all as "Big Mommy," age 86, was born on March 26, 1920 in Knox County, Ky. She was the daughter of the late Gilbert Abner and Ada Trent Abner. Mrs. Blevins died Monday, Jan. 22, 2007 in the Knox County Hospital. She was a member of the Highland Park Baptist Church at Heidrick. She worked as a cook at Knox Central High School for 27 years before retiring. On Nov. 23, 1938, she united in marriage with J.D. Blevins. along with her parents and husband, J.D., she was preceded in death by an infant son, Ray; granddaughter, Lynn; a sister, Lucy Trent; her brothers, Walter, Abner, Lewis, Chris, and Jack Abner and a son-in-law, Frank Merida. Mrs. Blevins is survived by her beloved children, Faye Hammons and husband Don of Heidrick, Claudia Sue Merida of Heidrick, Brenda Root and husband Johnny of Girdler, Jennifer Cobb and husband Robert of Barbourville, Don Blevins and wife Kay of Bimble, Burchell Blevins and wife Rita of Artemus, Ersel Wayne Blevins and wife Ruth of Artemus, Gary Blevins and wife Kathy of Barbourville, Sidney Blevins and wife Loretta of Heidrick, Ricky blevins and wife Novella, all of Heidrick; her sisters, Georgia Mills of London, Ky. and Geneva Valentine of Ypsilanti, Mich.; Her grandchildren, Dina Hammons, Jeff Blevins, Floyd Blevins, Michael Blevins, Susie Blevins Campbell, Rev. Duke Hammons, Sheila Terrell, Dean Merida, Gina Terrell, Charles Wayne Blevins, James Burchell Blevins, KIm Marsee, Jennifer Powell, Tracy Jones, Belissa Croley, John Blevins, Donrick Blevins, Jessica Blevins, Amy Stewart, Robbi Cobb and Kristina Cobb; great grandchildren, Whitney Hammons, Kori Hammons, Hayley Hammons, Zachary Blevins, Eli Blevins, Bob Blevins, Samantha Blevins, Sadie Blevins, Dillion Blevins, Holly Elder, Hannah Campbell, Blevin Campbell, Tiffany Jones, Tabitha Jones, Jonathan Hammons, Shaunda Mills, Shannon Mills, Toni Terrell, Taylor Terrell, Tori Terrell, Tessa Terrell, Ty Beth Terrell, T.J. Terrell, Teddi Sue Terrell, Chad Merida, Alec Merida, Dallas Merida, Cassidy West, Lindsey West, Hannah Blevins, Micah Blevins, Austin Marsee, Morgan Marsee, Winston Marsee, Justin Powell, Lauren Powell, Kelsy Powell. Bradley Jones, Sydney Jones, Jacob Jones, Nate Croley, Josh Croley, Sarahann Croley, Ethan Blevins, Johna Blevins, Jaxon Stewart, Bailee Stewart, Jayce Stewart; great great grandchildren, Jazmine Blevins, Cody Blevins, Colton Elder, Timberly Frederick and Aubrey Jones. Funeral services for Nannie "Big Mommy" Blevins were Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007 at 2 p.m. in Hopper Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. William "Mann" Cobb, Rev. Jeffery Branum, Rev. Tommy Frazier, Rev. Ted Satterfield and Rev. Donnie "Duke" Hammons officiating, Interment was in the Doolin Cemetery at Heidrick with Nannie's beloved sons, Don, Burchell, Ersel, Gary, Sidney and Ricky serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Nannie's grandsons, Doug Johnson, Jimmy Hudson, Harry Mays, Bill Swafford, Dr. Tom Ashburn, Dr. Steve Toadvine and all staff at Knox County Hospital. Arrangements were under the direction of Hopper Funeral Home.
