| Mr. Robert Baker, Jr., age 64 of Barbourville, departed this life on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at his home. He was the widower of Betty Jean Baker and the son of Robert Baker, Sr. and Carrie Jackson Baker born to them on November 8, 1943 in Bell Co., KY . Mr. Baker was a member of the Artemus Baptist Church and had been a janitor at the Flat Lick Elementary School. Robert enjoyed working, spending time with his grandchildren and all his family, watching TV , especially racing and wrestling and he also enjoyed fishing. He loved to make people happy and his family always came first. He is preceded in death by his wife Betty Jean Baker, his parents, Robert, Sr. and Carrie Baker and two sisters, Viola Blanton and Ruth Beddow and a nephew Nicholas Frederick. Survivors include, two sons, Jerry Baker and wife Bonnie of Artemus, KY and Danny Baker and wife Angela of Corbin, KY, three daughters, Karen Baker and friend Charles Warfield of Artemus, KY, Wanda Baker and friend Kenneth Miller of Danville, KY and Brenda Smith and husband Earl of Ramsey Branch, one brother, David Baker and wife Violet of Dewitt, KY, three sisters, Mary Burnett and husband Ronnie of Chatsworth, Georgia, Alene Mullins and husband H.A. of Artemus, KY. and Kathleen Chavies and husband Elmer of London, KY. Mr. Baker also leaves behind 18 grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren and special friends, Karen Baker, Tonya Hatfield, Paul Hatfield, Linda &Phillip Hatfield, Ernest Barton and Roxanne &Danny Hatfield along with many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. Funeral services for Mr. Baker will be conducted on Sunday, September 21, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Collins, Rev. Roger Medlin and Rev. Haskel Mills officiating. Pallbearers will be, Haskel Mills, Earl Smith, James Hensley, Charles Warfield, Sherman Lawson, Kenneth Miller, David Smith, Aaron Warfield, Phillip Hatfield and Jim Stewart. Honorary pallbearers will be Dustin Smith, Cody Baker, Chris Miller, Skylar Baker, Robert Miller, Austin Millikan, Steven Warfield, Lonnie Wayne Smith and Eric Smith and everyone at the Flat Lick Elementary School. Burial will be in the Baker Cemetery at Ramsey Branch. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
