Mr. JAMES 'Dooley' ADAMS, 78, of Boone Height, passed away Sunday April 21, 2002 at his home. He was the son of the late Shan and Mae (Sams) Adams, born to them in Knox County on August 23, 1923. On April 11, 1955 he untied in marriage with Opel Genara Miller. Mr. Adams was a member of the Roadside Baptist Church and was a World War II army veteran. He also drew cartoons for the Barbourville Mountain Advocate. He is survived by his wife, Opel Adams; eight children, Shirley Brown, Norman Miller, Connie Smith, Lonnie Miller, Donna Throckmorton, James Timmy Adams, Gary Adams and Kimberly Bingham; and one brother, Ernest Adams; twenty grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. James Dooley Adams were conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, April 24, 2002 with the Rev. James Mooneyham and the Rev. Doug Smith officiating. Mr. Adams was laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery. Hampton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
