The Herr and Rudy families were prominent landowners in Louisville, Kentucky in the 1700s-1800s. The Herr and Hite families intermarried. This cemetery is on the property of the Edwards-Herr House, which was the home of Alfred Herr. Later, this was the Robert Hite farm. The house is still standing, and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The house and the cemetery are under conservation and historic preservation easements, so the cemetery is in good condition.
