Schools To Open Sept. 2

1,000 Pupils Return To Grade and High Classes

More than 1,000 students are expected to march to the Paintsville Public school building Tuesday, September 2 for enrollment in the 1941-42 scholastic activities.

Superintendent R. G. Huey has announced that enrollment will begin at 1 o’clock Tuesday afternoon. Also that all pupils entering the eighth and ninth grades are requested to be at the school office Saturday of this week (August 30) for enrollment.

Children who will be six years old by September 30 may enter school, otherwise they cannot enter, it was announced.

Besides Superintendent Huey, other members of the faculty are:


First Grade:  Claudia Butler, Mayme Tackett Dyer and Elizabeth Pack.

Second Grade:  Christine Murray, Mavis Patrick and Miriam Thomas.

Third Grade:  Lois Brand, Elizabeth Jenkins and Lillian Williams.

Fourth Grade:  Helen Thomas and Mrs. Roger Stewart.

Fifth Grade:  Betty Kirk and Mary Louise Stafford.

Sixth Grade:  Ila Beatrice Conley, Mrs. Fred Holbrook and Imogene Mayo.

Seventh Grade:  Jesse Chandler Porter and Hannah Jean Ward.

Eight Grade:  Edward Cooley and Mary McClafferty.

High School Grades:  Alphretta Archer, Cecil Preston, Ruth Adams, Mont Weaver, Lorraine Wiley, Lillian Walker, Jane Howard Dusza, Anna Louise Preston and Norman Lewis.
