24 Feb. 1876: J. W. Walker & wife to deed Hilary Davis. Recorded in deed book S, page 394, tax .50, fee for recording $1.25 with a receipt marked paid. This indenture, made 24 Feb. 1876 between James W. Walker & his wife, Rachael W. Walker of the County of Hickman & the State of KY of the first part and Hilary Davis of the county & state aforesaid of the second part. Witnesseth, that the parties of the first part in consideration of the sum of Seven hundred & sixty dollars with Four hundred fifty five dollars in hand paid & Three hundred & five dollars in three payments; one One hundred & fifty dollars due the first of March, next One hundred dollars due on 25 Dec. next Fifty five dollars due on 25 Dec. 1877, have bargained & sold and by these presence do convey and confirm unto the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns forever, a certain tract or parcel of land lying in the county of Hickman and the state of KY and described as follows, viz: "A part of the N. W. quarter of section nine (9) T. 1 R. 2 West beginning twenty four poles South of the N. W. corner of said quarter section of land, thence East one hundred and four and two thirds poles to a stake and two Birch trees, thence fifty nine poles thence West one hundred and four and two thirds poles thence North fifty nine poles to the beginning containing thirty eight acres, more or less. And the said James W. Walker together with Rachael W. Walker, his wife, who hereby relinquishes her right of dower and homestead in and to the above described tract of land. To have & hold said property, with it appurtenances, thereunto, belonging; unto the said grantee, his heirs, assigns forever. And, the said party of the first part do further covenant with the said party of the second part that they will warrant generally the title to the property hereby conveyed. A lien is hereby retained upon the property hereby conveyed, and security for the payment of the said notes for unpaid purchase money. In testimony, thereof, the parties of the first part have here unto subscribed their names the day and the year aforesaid. Signed J. W. Walker & Rachael Walker, State of KY , County of Hickman. I, S. R. Taylor, Clerk of County Court for the County & State aforesaid, do certify that the foregoing deed of conveyance from James W. Walker & Rachael W. Walker, his wife, to Hilery Davis was on the 25th day of Feb 1876, produced to me in said County and acknowledged before me by James W. Walker & Rachael W. Walker, his wife, parties thereto to be their act & deed. Where upon the same, together with this certificate has been duly admitted to record. Given under my hand this 25 day of Feb 1876.
