Daniel Jackson - Affidavit of Slaves - Deed Book E Page 182

 

 

 

I Daniel Jackson do solemnly Swear that I did on the 17th day of December 1839 purchase Bonafide for my own use and benefits one slave named Lewis and not for merchandise audit. That I at the time of purchasing said slave was wholly and totally ignorant of the act of February 2nd 1833. So help me God This June 17, 1844.

This is to certify that the above oath was taken before me the undersigned in due form of law given under my hand this 17th June 1841.

WH Taylor Clerk of the county court for the county aforesaid do certify that the foregoing affidavit of Daniel for the purchase of slave Lewis contrary to the act of Feby 2 1833 was on this day produced to me in my office as requested to be recorded whereupon the foregoing affidavit together with this certificate hath been duly admitted to records in my office given under my hand this 24 day of June 1841.
