John Mott to James Jones - Deed Book B Page  268

This indenture made and entered into the 24th day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & Thirty four between John Mott of the county of Hickman & state of Kentucky of the one part and James Jones of the county and state aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said John Mott for and in consideration of the sum of six dollars in hand paid the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged hat this day sold unto the said James Jones his heirs or assigns forever the following tract or parcel of land known & designated on the plan or map of said county as apart of the southwest quarter of section seventeen township two range two west as follows (viz) beginning at the North west corner of said quarter and running East seventy yards thence at right angles and due south one hundred & forty poles to Hugh Arns line thence due west to the North & South line of said quarter thence to the beginning containing Eleven acres be the same more or less together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to have and to hold the land hereby conveyed unto the said Jones his heirs or assigns and every other person or persons whatsoever. In testimony whereof the said John Mott together with Eliza Mott his wife who hereby relinquishes her right of dower in and to the land hereby conveyed hath hereunto set their hands the date above written.

I  Henry L Edrington clerk of the county court for the county aforesaid do certify that the foregoing deed from John Mott & Eliza his wife to James Jones was produced to me on the 24th day of January 1834 and acknowledged by the said John Mott to be his act and deed and the said Eliza Mott being examined by me privily & apart from her said husband declared that she did and freely & willingly seal & deliver the said writing and wishes not to retract it and the same being again shown and explained to her she acknowledged it to be her act and deed and consendeth that the same may be recorded whereupon the same together with the foregoing certificate hath been duly admitted to record in my office. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 28th day of January 1834.   HL Edrington
