This indenture made and entered into this the 15th day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty two between William Davis of the County of Hickman and Commonwealth of Kentucky of the one part and Joseph W. Davis, James E. Davis, Daniel H. Davis and Elizabeth Jane Davis, heirs and legal representatives of the aforenamed William C. Davis of the same county and commonwealth aforesaid of the other part, Witnesseth, that the said William C. Davis for and in consideration of the love and affection which he bears for his aforesaid four children Joseph W. Davis, James E. Davis, Daniel H. Davis and Elizabeth Jane Davis has this day given and by these presents do give unto his aforesaid four children the following named Negro slaves now in his possession, to wit: Francis, a Negro boy aged eleven years, Lovena, a Negro girl aged twelve years and Nan, a Negro girl aged eight years and their increase to be equally divided between said four children to have and to hold the same to them and their heirs forever. In Witnesseth whereof the aforesaid William C. Davis has set his hand and affixed his seal the day and date above written.

Kentucky, Hickman County, To wit, I Henry L. Edington clerk of the court for the county aforesaid do hereby certify that the foregoing deed from William C. Davis to Joseph W. Davis, James E. Davis, Daniel H. Davis and Elizabeth Jane Davis was this day produced to me in my office and acknowledged by the said William C. Davis to be his act and deed, hand and seal for the purposes therein contained and ordered to be recorded and therefore the same together with this certificate are hereby recorded in my office in testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 2nd day of January 1833.
