George W. Jones: According to the Handbook
of McCulloch County History, Volume II, George W. Jones, born May 1, 1832 in
Hickman County, Kentucky; died at Rochelle, Texas on September 22, 1910, married
Laura E. _____ in Kentucky in 1854. She was born at Clinton, Kentucky on October
3, 1842, and died at Crothers (Rochelle), Texas on June 12, 1906. The gravestone
of G.W. Jones shows him as the Rev. G.W. Jones." The McCulloch History book
also references a Capt Thomas Jones -

I am looking for the parents and siblings of George W Jones born May 1, 1832 in
Hickman Co and died Sept 22, 1910 Rocelle, TX He was a Teacher, G W went
to college in Clinton. G W Jones migrated to TEXAS first in 1850, returned to KY
to marry in 1854 a Laura Emma ---- They went to MO where I assume he taught
school. Then migrated to Texas in 1867. He served in TX Civil War but I have
found out information before McCulloch Co period which began 1867 when he
settled there.
George W and Laura E Jones.
George W was involved in early establishment of McCulloch Co in Texas in 1867,
he was a teacher, Baptist minister and is buried in Rochelle Cemetery TX. He was
the counties first Judge and helped found the county seat in Brady TX.
