Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 5th ed., 1887, Woodford Co. H. D. WILSON was born in Woodford County, June 26, 1849, and is the eldest son of H. H. and Rebecca (Dangel) Wilson. The father was born in Woodford County also, and was a farmer and distiller all his life. H. D. Wilson's paternal grandfather, Samuel, was born in Virginia. H. D. was reared on a farm and educated at the common schools. He married in July, 1867, Mary Carroll, of Woodford County, daughter of Mathew and Martha (Dean) Carroll; five children blessed this union--Charles D., Mattie., Virginia, Gillespie and Joe C.S.B. In 1877, Mr. Wilson opened a general store in Clover Bottom Precinct, and have been in the business every since; he also has farming carried on.
