Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 5th ed., 1887, Woodford Co. EDMUND M. WALLACE is a native of Beaufort District, S. C., and was born July 10, 1846, the second son of Samuel B. and Anna (Taylor) Wallace, natives of South Carolina. His grandfather, Samuel McDowell Wallace, was a native of Woodford County, Ky. S. M. Wallace's father, Caleb Wallace, was one of the pioneers of Woodford County, and was one of the first judges of the court of appeals of Kentucky, from 1792 to 1813. Edmund M. has lived in Woodford County all his life, and was reared on the farm. In 1864 and 1865 he was a student under B. B. Sayre of Frankfort, and afterward taught school one year. In 1868 he began the study of law under Gov. Thomas P. Porter, began practice in 1869, and was elected county attorney in 1878, serving one term. He was married, June 27, 1876, to Miss Lucy Graddy, daughter of W. Henry Graddy, of Woodford County. To them have been born two children: Anne and Henry G.
