Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 5th ed., 1887, Woodford Co. JOSEPH E. SHROPSHIRE was born in Bourbon County June 8, 1830, and is the youngest son of Edward and Jane C. (Porter) Shropshire, the former a native of Kentucky and the latter of Welsh origin. His paternal grandfather, Joseph, was born in Virginia, and was of English descent. Joseph E. Shropshire is a farmer in Clover Bottom Precinct, Woodford County, and the owner of 140 acres of excellent land. September 22, 1854, he married Miss Sarah J., daughter of Hugh and Kittie (McKee) Paul, and there have been to this union five children, of whom four are living: C. L., Sarah C., Emma J. and Josephine A. Mr. and Mrs. Shropshire and Sarah, Emma and Josephine are members of the Baptist Church, and Mr. Shropshire is a member of the I.O.O.F.
