KIMMEY is a native of Circleville, Pickaway Co., Ohio, and was born February 20, 1837, the son of Peter and Margaret (Barnhill) Kimmey, natives of Delaware and Ohio. Andrew J.'s grandfather, on the paternal side, was a native of Ireland; his maternal grandfather came from England. Andrew J. Kimmey learned his trade in his native town, serving apprenticeship of six years; he began business in Circleville, continuing a short time, and then established himself in Columbus and other points. In 1872 he came to Versailles, where he has since remained and has prospered. He was partner with John Amsden from 1872 to 1875, then he bought Amsden's interest. He was married, in December, 1871, to Miss Alda C. Hammel, of Circleville, Ohio, and to this union have been born three children: Leslie, Maggie and Blanche. Mr. Kimmey is a member of the I.O.O.F. He has built up a good trade at Versailles in the manufacturing department, and is one of the most practical tailors in the country.
