Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 5th ed., 1887, Woodford Co. JAMES C. JOHNSON was born February 4, 1844, and is the third son of Jacob and Elizabeth (Mitchell) Johnson. Jacob Johnson was born in Woodford County, in July, 1805, and was a son of Isaac Johnson of Virginia, was a farmer all his life and died in 1855. James C. Johnson was reared on a farm, and educated at the common schools of his native county of Woodford. For seven years was a distiller, but has been engaged in farming the balance of his life. August 15, 1872, he married Miss Mary, daughter of W. C. and Georgianna (Holloway) Willis, of Woodford County, and to this union six children have been born: Iva E., aged twelve years; Georgianna E., ten; George Francis, eight; James Clelland, six; Hettie Willis, four; Marion Felix, eight months. The maternal grandfather of Mrs. Mary Johnson was Capt. George Holloway. Mr. Johnson is the owner of 240 acres in Millville Precinct, and is engaged in general farming and stock raising.
