JOHN ARNETT was born November 23, 1835, and is the second son of William
L. and Sallie (White) Arnett.  William L. was born in Woodford County, 
Ky., and was the son of James Arnett, a native of Virginia.  Mrs. Sallie
Arnett was born in Fayette County, Ky.  John Arnett, a native of 
Woodford County, was reared a farmer, which vocation he followed until 
September, 1862, when he joined Company A, Second Kentucky Cavalry, 
under John Morgan, served in all Morgan's fights until 1863, when he was
captured with Morgan at Buffington Island, was held a prisoner of war 
fifteen months, under somewhat rough treatment, and then exchanged; he 
then rejoined his regiment and served until July, 1865.  On his return 
home he re-engaged in farming on 150 acres in Woodford County, of which 
his is the owner, and on which he still resides.
