CHARLES ALEXANDER was born November, 6, 1830, and is the only child of James and Elizabeth (Hurst) Alexander; James was a native of Montgomery County, Ky., and Elizabeth, a native of Virginia. The father was born February 18, 1807, and died April 1, 1885; the mother was born August 3, 1805, and died September 16, 1867. David Alexander, the paternal grandfather, lived and died in Woodford County, but was a North Carolinian, and served in the war of 1812. Charles Alexander was born in Woodford County, reared near Versailles, and educated at Pisgah Church Academy. He was married February 5, 1857, to Miss Mollie A. Daniel, a daughter of William P. and Agnes (Lowens) Daniel, natives of Jessamine County, but who moved to Woodford County, where her father died. Charles Alexander owns 247 acres, was once United States revenue collector, and is a member of the Presbyterian Church.
