Kentucky: A History of the State, Perrin, Battle & Kniffin, 2nd ed., 1885, Webster Co. G.W. BAILEY was born in Hopkins County, Ky., April 4, 1848, and is a son of G.W. and Elizabeth (Winstead) Bailey. The Bailey family came originally from Virginia, and the ancestors of our subject settled in Hopkins Co, Ky., where the father lived until just before the war, when the family removed to Webster County. G.W. remained at home and helped his father on the farm until his twenty-second year, when he went to Hopkins County, and commenced farming for himself. He remained in that county five years, then came to Webster County, and continued farming for four years, then sold his farm and engaged in the livery business in Sebree, to which place he had removed. He ran his business for some time, then abandoned it and took up his present business, dealing in fine wines and liquors. As a farmer he was successful, and the same may be said of him as a business man. Mr. Bailey was married, May 7, 1873, to Miss Mattie Moore, of Hopkins County, Ky. They have five children: William, Floy, Linnie, Claude and Myrtle. Mr. Bailey is a Democrat. Bailey Winstead Moore = Hopkins VA http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygenweb/kybiog/webster/bailey.gw.txt
