Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 3rd ed., 1886. Warren County. WILLIAM TURNER was born in Garrard County, Ky., in 1849. He is a son of William and Rolinda (Hurt) Turner, and is of Scotch origin. His paternal grandfather was a native of Virginia and came to Kentucky as early as 1800. The father of Mr. Turner was born in Garrard County and his mother in Adair County, Ky.; he was a farmer and died in 1873. Mr. Turner was reared on a farm, where he remained until his sixteenth year. He then entered the Male Seminary at Lancaster, Ky., and in 1869 entered the junior class at Center College, at Danville, Ky., and graduated from that institution in 1871 and subsequently taught in the preparatory department for two years; then taught one year in the Louisville Ward School. In 1875 he engaged in the drug business in Danville, Ky., and there remained a short time, then came to Bowling Green and continued the business. In December, 1884, he removed to his present place of business. He has the only modern furnished drug store in southern Kentucky, and is one of the leading druggists of Bowling Green. His marriage took place in 1872, with Mildred S. Fry, a native of Danville, Ky., daughter of Gen. S. S. Fry. To this union were born four children: Joseph S., Nannie O. Bannon, William S. and John; the two latter only are living. Mr. and Mrs. Turner are members of the Old School Presbyterian Church. He is a Republican.
