RODES
(Extracts from an old Rodes Bible, now owned by Judge Rogers Rodes, of
Bowling Green, Ky.  He is a son of Clifton, son of Robert, son of John
II).  Births: 1st. John Rodes, Sr., the first of whom we know anything,
grandfather of Robert Rodes, was born 11/6/1697.  2nd. John Rodes and
Sarah, his wife, and the issue:  John Rodes was born 11/6/1729; Sarah
Rodes born 5/24/1736, and the[y] intermarried 9/9/1754.  Their
descendants:  Mary Rodes 2/14/1759; Robert 3/11/1760; Henrietta 3/26/1761;
Anne 7/22/1763; John, Jr 6/2/1766; Clifton 8/8/1768; Tyree 12/24/1774;
Sarah 7/3/1777. Great snowfall Wednesday, 1/29/1772. John Rodes (II)
married Sarah Harris, daughter of Robert Harris of Ablemarle [sic] Co.,
Va. of whom we have given some data.  Her brother was Tyree Harris. 
Robert Rodes (I) 3/11/1759; Eliza Delany (Dulaney) 1/29/1758 intermarried
5/30/1782.  Issue as follows:  Mary Eddius Rodes 8/27/1783; Sarah Harris
Rodes 6/7/1787; Elizabeth Rodes 2/20/1789; John Rodes 1/4/1792; William
Rodes 2/24/1794; Nancy Rodes 2/3/1796; Clifton Rodes 8/26/1798 died at
Danville Ky. 1879 or 81, aged eighty-one, father of Judge Robert Rodes of
Bowling Green, Ky.  Robert Rodes (I) has been authenticated by his
descendants as a Revolutionary soldier.  Clifton Rodes and Amanda, his
wife, and their issue:  Clifton Rodes 8/26/1798; Amanda Ousley 6/24/1805
and intermarried 12/23/1823.  They were the parents of Robert Rodes II
9/28/1894 of Bowling Green, Ky.; Elizabeth Ousely [sic] Rodes 4/23/1826;
Amelia Anderson Rodes 12/24/1828; Annie Eliza Rodes 3/13/1830; William
Ousley Rodes 3/14/1832; twins, males 8/16/1833 which died at birth;
Clifton Rodes 8/9/1834; Boyle Ousley Rodes 4/6/1837; Almyra Rodes
2/27/1839; Sallie Robbins Rodes 4/30/1842; John Rodes 10/11/1845; Charles
Henry Rodes 3/15/1848.  Marriages of the children of Robert Rodes (the
first), son of John II, and Eliza his wife:  Mary E. m. James Estill
7/10/1800; Elizabeth m. Wallace Estill 12/20/1807; Sallie H. m. Anthony D.
Rollins 4/18/1811; William m. Pauline S. Clay 11/3/1819; Nancy M. Samuel
