He is a son of Clifton, son of Robert, son of John II). Births: 1st. John Rodes, Sr., the first of whom we know anything, grandfather of Robert Rodes, was born 11/6/1697. 2nd. John Rodes and Sarah, his wife, and the issue: John Rodes was born 11/6/1729; Sarah Rodes born 5/24/1736, and the[y] intermarried 9/9/1754. Their descendants: Mary Rodes 2/14/1759; Robert 3/11/1760; Henrietta 3/26/1761; Anne 7/22/1763; John, Jr 6/2/1766; Clifton 8/8/1768; Tyree 12/24/1774; Sarah 7/3/1777. Great snowfall Wednesday, 1/29/1772. John Rodes (II) married Sarah Harris, daughter of Robert Harris of Ablemarle [sic] Co., Va. of whom we have given some data. Her brother was Tyree Harris. Robert Rodes (I) 3/11/1759; Eliza Delany (Dulaney) 1/29/1758 intermarried 5/30/1782. Robert Rodes (I) has been authenticated by his descendants as a Revolutionary soldier.
