BARBER, Warren County, was born in this county in 1852, and is a son of Jesse and Lucinda (Anderson) Barber, of French and Irish descent. The father died when subject was a boy of twelve years; his mother, now quite old, makes her home with her son, who superintends and manages her farm, together with one of his own in the neighborhood. James G. is the fifth son in a family of eleven children - eight of whom are living. He received a good common school education, and now, at the age of thirty-five years, is still a bachelor, disregarding the divine injunction that it is "not well for man to be alone." Mr. Barber is a man of charitable inclinations and benevolent disposition, and contributes to all worthy enterprises. He is an Odd Fellow and a Democrat.
